Man what a race, I've been a Denny fan since 21 and it's been the best decision I've ever made, he's funny, great racer, and funniest man in the garage
Awesome comment. Same here. I got into Nascar with my wife, I think back in 2018 through the NBC predictor app...I instantly had a feeling Denny was the guy to root for.
Not a fan of Denny but mad props to this man. He’s a great driver & I know he will give my favorite driver a run for their money this year. Let go William! Congratulations Denny!
Sidebar....The room they do the podcast in at Denny's house is so badass. Like an old time back room in a bar. Would be cool to one day do an episode going over some of the spots he has. I knew NASCAR paid well, but I wasn't expecting that home from the Netflix show ha. Good for the Hamlin family! I guess when you win 54 times that will add up!
Heck of a race for Denny and Larson, 2 of the best in the sport. Chase fan here, just wanted to say great job Denny getting the w, last driver you want gaining time on you in the closing laps is Larson/Denny, great win. I think denny didn't have long run speed but could smoke em in short runs. He managed his tires and gap to larson to perfection to win.
I really like this show and the honesty (including opinions and Denny’s view of his own place in the sport) always on display. Agree or disagree, I think you get a pretty straightforward glimpse into how racing works from his perspective. Generally, I think racing coverage focuses a lot on negative stuff and complaining but he just tells you how he plays the game - fair enough. I’m a lifelong fan of all forms of racing, starting with weekly shows at Langley Speedway in the 80s. It’s all right if every race isn’t a classic; that makes you appreciate the great moments even more and gives hope that you might see another one soon. Keep up the good work!
I have been to several races, and I've never seen Denny win while attending the race. I suppose I'm bad luck 😂... It's on my bucket list to witness a win in person!
Don't feel bad I been pulling for denny since 05 when he drove Rockwell Automation car in Busch Series n I've never been to one that he won. Saw him lead the first 381 laps at Richmond n blow tire with 19 to go back in like 2008. N I live near Darlington but somehow I miss the ones he wins.
Aero blocking is the new fancy term for protecting the lead. 2nd place car’s job is to run where the leader is not, to get clean air on the nose for downforce. 1st place car’s job is to block the 2nd place car’s line and not let him get clean air. It doesn’t matter what generation car they’re running. Aero will ALWAYS be a factor. I’m a Larson fan and Denny did an amazing job keeping Larson behind him for the win. Perfect execution.
Well I am a JGR fan since DJ but my guy was Bobby Labonte and was lost when he left....wife liked Tony, I was like well Denny is o.k. way back then....dude your success and fan hating has won me over for 3 years...go get them....due for sure...lol
Same here Labonte/JGR fan that was lost when Bobby went to Petty, combined with I couldn't stand Logano and JJ Yeley and my mother in law at the time worked for Rockwall Automation.
Denny, congrats on another win! I was there. This is the 6th win in person. That made my day already as I was walking down the road after the race, someone in a gray 4runner pulled in front of me. They gave me a hat they said was from Victory Lane. Would love to know if it's true and if you have any appearances at Pocono to get it signed.
Another great win for the A11IN team!! So fun to watch! More more more!! 😊 Might’ve missed it in a previous podcast, but what’s up with the Larson sticker on Jared’s laptop? His second favorite driver?? ❤
I’m all for softer tires/more tire wear but I think then we are back to fires with this next gen. Higher Ride height plus a smaller softer tire at certain tracks may be the ticket.
Keep up the great work Denny. My girlfriend and I were at Pocono last season when you got the win, and we were also just at Dover as well. Each time, I was in the crowd making sure everyone knows I’m your #1 fan. F*** your driver, Denny’s my driver!!!! 🏁🦍
I've never been a Hamlin fan!! But I can't take away the fact that he's a hell of a driver and will definitely be one of the greatest drivers of all time!! Great job Denny!!
Bowman fan here…. But however I too thought during the race mostly Truex had the best car then Bowman came on during second stage… but yes Larson had passed so many to get up front. So like you say whoever got the lead was likely to WIN! Congratulations Denny you were absolutely in the mix and Bush at times…
While watching the final run, I always thought Denny and Larson had about the same cars but I found it frustrating seeing Denny be able to drive so easily compared to Larson. I could physically see on tv that Denny wasn’t trying as hard to go fast and I think that’s what made me not like the race as much. Like as a fan I want to see both drivers go all out to win and I felt like I only saw one of them doing that.
To put it into perspective how many wins will denny get just a reminder hamlin is 6 wins away from catching harvick and 9 away from tieing kyle busch on the all times wins list he can absolutely have like a 5 win season this year
Been a DH fan since 2006 and love to see you racing well. Also why haven’t people been talking about having the scoring pylon at the track this week? You have to praise nascar about the pylon for them to come back.
North Wilkesboro was never known as a track with great racing. It's a historic track and glad its back but not too many memorable races there over the years.
Aero blocking is intrinsic in racing. However i think the point that matters is that the Gen7 car seems to be more reliant on it. More effective. The car makes it less likely a faster car can overcome it. Or at least that's what feels has been the case in the last handful of years.
People are def complaining because Denny won lol had it been reversed and Larson held Denny off, folks would be saying it was one of the best Dover races ever 😂
Denny is honestly trying to say he was holding off Larson not by looking at his camera which he can do in a millisecond, he was waiting on his lap times to come in to know if he can hold him off🤣🤣🤣🤣
the cynic in my thinks the allstar race is just a way for GY to test different tire compounds, instead of forking up the cash to actually test new compounds.
The car IS the problem. You can say “people just like to complain” but nobody is complaining about the xfinity car. You can say “I had more left in the tank” but you didn’t speed up to win, you just blocked. Stop being overly self-conscious. You did what you had to to win. Nobody is blaming you. This car can not drive up to the back bumper of another car because of air, and it really makes for bad racing. The next gen car so far is less-safe, catches on fire, can’t get to the pits with flat tires, and the racing is sorry. The old xfinity car puts on a better show every week.
Look it aint nascar if there's no cheating. hehe! What great housewarming gift for Jared. Congrats to both one for winning and one for getting a house. Yay!
Well i just hope the 3 wins so far this year will keep you satisfied enough so you do feel the need to wreak the leader to win like You did last year at Kansas .
He didn't call anything unless he called being handed the first position coming out of the pits which gave him the win. He should have waited for bowman and larson pass first.
