Denny, you're not my favorite driver, but I do enjoy listening to your takes with the races and explanations of events on your Actions Detrimental. Kudos to you 😊
Whoever made the call to rain out the Coca-Cola 600 needs to be fired. Its a slap in the face to fans in the stands and at home. If its a TV issue you guys should drop some names.
It's probably more to do with the city. Most don't allow events after a certain hour, especially if they involve loud noise ie racing and concerts. Indy had to be done by 8:15 due to city policies.
As someone at the race, in the grandstands, myself and everyone around me waited until they finally called it…we would have stayed come hell or high water to see the race finish. As you said, it’s the night before Memorial Day for Heaven’s sake!! And you hit the nail on the head, allowing us to wait for over an hour (PACKED in the concession area) thinking they would get the track ready and restart, that was the most irritating move made!!
It was a holiday weekend I was still watching on tv.. I agree with denny it's a crown jewel race it should have been ran.. at least more than just barely halfway.. there was still over 200 miles of racing.. that's an xfinity race!!!!
I am wondering if local law enforcement / local officials had concern for a super late finish and having that many people on the roads at 3am and asked them to call it… but if that were the case, I think it would have been communicated widely
Hell, I remember leaving and the road near the track were almost totally dry. The track looked dry, aside from like turn 3 but they only went over it once. It was crazy they didn’t try harder. It’s a crown jewel, day before the holiday and all the teams are like 5-30 minutes away. Just dry it and finish at 2-3am.. OR being a crown jewel, in the home of nascar. Make a rule to finish it Monday
Talking in circles about the 3 charter cap. Smaller teams in terms of spending aren’t going to be buying 4 charters to begin with. Phase jgr and hendrick’s 4th charter out by setting a time frame they need to sell the 4th charter by if you want to create smaller teams
I remember when I l was like 14or so I'm 35 now my parents took me the Pepsi 400 in Daytona for the nite race we had a rain delay and I remember but the time the race was over we got a taxi but besides that with the traffic driving urself or s taxi we didnt get back to our hotel and we was on the beach we didn't get back to the room till like 4 in the morning there was no reason in my eyes to call the race esp when they started drying the track and it they pretty much had it dry and to have the fans to sit there threw the rain then watch them dry the track so sat there for what 2 hrs just to be told it's done is bad on nascar they knew how long it would take to dry it dont make the fans sit there just call the race like they always do after halfway and its a nite race and rains for a hr call the race that race ended poorly for the fans that sat around watching them dry track and the fans like me to stay up for 2 hrs and then cancel it id say if they pull the air dryers out like they did and it don't start raining again then u go race no matter how long it takes they pretty much teased us for 2 hrs i wish i would of went to bed and i bet fans wished they left when it started raining because i also thought when it started raining it was over and then sat there to watch them dry it and then cancel it lol wtf😂NASCAR really starting to be joke every year they just do dumber and dumber stuff and wonder why they are loosing fans
Did nooooottt know the 23XI drivers sat in the JGR competition meetings 😭 nascar def shoulda finished the race tho, I think tv put the pressure on to call it 🤷🏾♂️
There is always Plenty of criticism for NASCAR on how they handle weather, but I don't think rain shorten races are a problem. If the race passed the halfway mark, call it and move on. Rain delay races ratings are historically abysmal, and logically, problem a nightmare to maneuver.
@@mattthacker9120 Possibly when the forecast is rain, dont wait until way after schedule of 6pm to drop the rag maybe don’t wait atleast 30 minutes after rain stops before you bring out a suction truck and an hour for you to start blowing and 1 jet dryer. That would help. Duh
They did it, because of the rain and because Kyle Larson would not get any points. As he did not start the race, he got no points. So in their heads it would not have the impact that they wanted. WAAWAAAWAA poor Kyle, but worse I was like wow that raced sucked big time.
As a fan who drove 700 miles to watch that race I would’ve liked to have gotten my moneys worth. It was amazing for the first 250 laps. My problem with the call is they said “hey we’re gonna race then 2 drying laps and boom no race.
Drove 500 miles and spent 1000 dollars in hotel rooms to watch the race. Then to have them call it was pretty fkn shitttty! Then to get back to the hotel .5 mile away and the parking lot was dry at 11:00 even made me more pissed
this was likly a pure business decision based on sponsorship /advertising by Fox and not related to the time of day, they just want you to think that it had to do with it beeing "to late". BS
Denny you have a new fan. You are refreshingly honest. This is the first podcast I have listened to of yours and I am now. a fan for life. Good luck on the rest of the season.
“ For Sure “ is a positive listening phrase. It’s his way of saying “ I’m listening”. You can’t get more genuine a response. Say it a hundred times. It just means he’s in the moment actually listening and contributing.
I was there and sat in stands as they started drying, and it was more and more dry with every pass. There were so many people still hanging out and ready to watch. Such a shame. Would've loved to see it go on.
The first day I watched NASCAR was the first day Jeff Gordan raced in the top series. And have been a dedicated fan every since(Jeff Gordan Fan from start to finish). Now days I'm not a fan of any single driver, Just a fan of the sport. as Hendrix is the team I root for every week Sorry Denny) I also root for individual (yes you being one of them Denny.) from time to time I want to thank Denny and your team. Between you, Dale Jr. and Kevin Harvick. I get a great understanding of behind the scenes of NASCAR. you as a current driver/owner,(and your Podcast) Kevin as an commentator/ex driver of the current car(and his podcast), and Dale Jr. with his extensive understanding of NASCAR's past and present and being an owner(and his Podcast) I get a full understanding of the ins and outs of NASCAR from the viewpoint of 3 different people that really know the sport. I hope you get that Championship, weather it is this year or next, you will get it, and I will be rooting for you for that alone.
Actions Detrimental is my favorite show of the week. Denny and Jared are hysterical. Not only is Denny my favorite driver (A11IN). but his boldness and honesty are changing the sport. NASCAR 101 helps newer fans to understand the sport and appreciate all that goes into NASCAR racing. If you are a NASCAR fan, Even if you are not a fan of Denny (which BTW makes you rather stupid), listen to AD!
Us average Joe's have to stay after work sometimes until 3 AM for a very small fraction of what you make so I'm sure you would be okay working overtime for one night.......smh. Monday was a holiday so there was no reason not to finish it but I guess fox thought paid programming would make them more money than a live Nascar race.
We used to race until 2am-5am depending on the weather/how big the race was/how full the pits were at short tracks, why do we get away from the roots the higher up in NASCAR we go?
definitely disappointing when they don't run all the laps i know a lot of nascar fans including myself, we always want the laps weather its 300 miles or 1100 miles the Coke 600 is a gem race bc the 600 miles you drivers and teams have to endure may the best man win!
Denny, I like listen to your podcasts because I learn something new about the sport as a new fan. This time I learned the importance of pit selection and how the racing order impacts getting into and leaving pit stalls.
i have a slight feeling nascar called the race because they were pissed Kyle Larson chose to run the Indy 500 instead and made sure he didnt get to compete in the coke 600
The waiver should be pretty flexible. The rule is there for preventing some of these road course ringers, or maybe a fluke rain shortened race where a 1 or 2 race team stays out and wins and takes a position in the playoff. It should be full time cup drivers. Something happens to one of those drivers, should be pretty lax on giving those waivers. Injury, or like Kyle, he intended on being there, but mother nature had other ideas. I mean, if he decided he has a couple wins, "screw it, I'm going to go race a dirt track next Sunday because I don't need to be here", that would be different.
i just luv the words Denny comes up with without even knowing it isn't an actual word. "pronunciate", i'm not even sure how to spell that actually, haha. The words would be either, "pronounce " or "enunciate", so funny to watch that little bit!!
I prefer 1 Charlotte Oval race and 1 Charlotte Roval race. Everyone cares about the Coca-Cola 600. Bringing back the Charlotte 500 would be pointless. I know the Gen 7 cars are great on intermediates, but let's keep the oval for the 600 only. But even if they do get rid of the Charlotte Roval, NASCAR should race at Charlotte just for the 600 only. Keep Charlotte even special
Hey New Leader 👍 you are in front by points now now it's time to stabilize the situation always focus on the goal Temperature down head up you'll made it, Let's get the next step. Your's MikelKOne from Germany 😘
After RFK adds that third charter and puts Haley in it people will find out how talented he really is...Buescher is overlooked and undervalued as well...
The story you’d have at the end of the race would’ve been great. 20 v 6, plus guys like the 24/11, 45. And most of all Larson going for broke to come from the back, Justin had the car up to 13th so it was clearly fast enough
Bad Bad Bad day for Nascar. First the indy 500 ran long over the 600, I imagine most people watched until indy was over...that was 100 laps into the 600, and then they only get to 250....I cant imagine ratings wise how bad of a night they had. it was best put by Denny " What does it matter, the people were there"
I like Denny and I appreciate him giving inside information to how the sport actually works. It’s a total nightmare and a joke. Nascar is ran by Gibbs and Hendrick. Just get rid of everyone else.
F1 has been doing stuff well after 1AM, Le mans they driving for decades in the freaking dark for 24 hours even in rain! but NAscar cant even run on a DRY track run til 3AM?? even when its a holiday the day after ?? what an insult to fans! and even if we all do agree to it beeing to late wich i dont, why not just shorten they race to like Hamlin say 500 miles ? then atleast u give all drivers a chance to fight for a proper ending /finish and not have someoen been handed the win in the garage when many left or is not even wathcing the race anymore. this was PR disaster for Nascar!
They could have finished the race...it was a night before a holiday sold out crowd and yeah....they committed to drying the track...and yes Denny 12:15a.m cars would have been rolling 59:02
The new road course you’re talking about is going to be for a neighborhood hoa racetrack. I just read about it on a concord news page. It’s kinda crazy.
Denny some fans drove more miles than y’all did on the track. You talk about attendance every week, you get a sold out crowd and the longest race of the year is the shortest. When you charge 1k for a family of 4 to sit in the first 50 rows. NASCAR knew rain was in the area and did nothing to prepare or try and save this race. They screwed Larson, the fans, and literally half the drivers. Waste of a night
To Jareds point, how can you do a point penalty in a exibition race that doesnt award points, makes no sense, which is why Ricky only got a fine, if it was an actual points race that mattered Ricky would have probably gotten a points penalty on top of the fine, i know Jared is afraid to speak his mind around Denny but you all know this is exactly what Jared was thinking, why? Because it makes perfect sense, but common sense and Hamlin dont mix
I didn’t pay a lot of money for camping ,tickets and everything else not to get my money worth. I’ll guarantee you that I’ll not invest it again at Charlotte to leave it to another Nascar bad decision making….period….🤔🤔
Denny - you do not need to threaten to "fight" as you did over the radio at Charlotte - that is below you..... I am one of you many fans, and you need to stay above the other drivers and show people which includes the younger drivers how to maturely act. You need to take the lead with your experience and age - like it or not...
everything he was mad about was his own fault. Gabeheart even kept telling him to stop short and he had an open pit right before his. Not only was he screwing himself but also the 3 drivers in front of him. Clown shit right there. Dennys mouth always writing checks his ass can't cash.
Not disagreeing with anything Denny says it's just he likes to ramble on too long in a whiny fashion about everything. Kinda like hearing a 12 year old girl complaining about tampons not fitting right for 2 hours.
Just Like in the NHL, you need to let players police the game and themselves. It’s not you were going to create some serious dangerous situations. This is what sports are about. This is what rivalries are about. This is what you need in sports. Let them go at nothing wrong with it
Thanks for being honest about the rain/track conditions denny. Thats how i seen it as well. Track was damn near ready when they called it. Nascar made a bad call, hopefully they learn from this.
If you watch it, Ricky is talking. Then crew members come out as he walks buy. It was a planned ambush by a team against 1 driver . As soon as RIcky swung, his team was on Kyle. Just like Ricky planned. He knew his dad was there as he called him for help after the first swing without looking back as he knew he was there. Planned attacks by a group are different.
Planned attack NASCAR said they want the drivers personality to come out it comes out than it’s a NO NO! Bush planned wrecking Ricky and he used his car as a deadly weapon, he could have wrecked more than Ricky yet he gets away with it! A little lop sided yet they fine Ricky $75,000! They used excuse premeditated HELLO naturally you will work up more and more anger waiting to talk to that jerk Busch! Then Childress threatens Ricky!!! Hello where is that fine???
