@@dennylaine8735 I’m 60 now and started listening to Denny when he was in Wings around mid ‘70’s. That band along with the late great Jimmy McCullough was fantastic.

Imagine being a young guy in a nightclub in the early '60s, and John Lennon and George Harrison come in and rehearse their newly-written songs in front of you, before the rest of the world heard them. You could literally watch history being made.

MIKE PINDER TOLD US A STORY OF A HOUSE IN SURREY THE MOODY BLUES LIVED IN & THE BEATLES COMING DOWN TO HANG OUT. SHE DID COME THRU A BATHROOM WINDOW & A SONG CAME OUT OF THAT.

Not a very productive interview in regards to his time with the early Moody Blues. It would be more interesting to know what he thought about leaving the group before they really started to create great music and a legendary sound.

MikeRobWil my guess is, he kicks himself in the ass for leaving, but pride would never let him admit it.

I think he makes it pretty clear how he felt: He was fatalistic. Of course I’m talking about the subsequent commercial success of the Moody Blues, not the “great music” and “legendary sound” (whatever that’s supposed to mean). That stuff is you, not Denny Laine. In any case, Laine wasn’t the only one to leave. Rod Clark left with Laine, and Clint Warwick left shortly before. Their replacements, Justin Haywood and John Lodge, were chiefly responsible for the group’s new direction and subsequent success. It wouldn’t have happened, at least not in the same way, with the old members.

@MikeRobWil

@@warriorempathshealingfromn5625 Yes, I'd heard that he was included. Were any of the other early members also included in the HOF induction? With only one hit song, "Go Now" to their credit, it's hard for me to understand why any of the early members (who later left the group) were included.

If it wasnt for touring with Wings, im not sure the Moody Blues would have ever made it out as a bar band!

Your comment makes no sense. The Moody Blues made some of the most innovative music of the 60s since 1964. Denny just sang one hit sing for them in 64. Go Now. He played guitar for them from 64 to 66. The Moody Blues best work was after 66. Denny was a member and sometimes co-writer of the Wings and Wings songs in the 70s. He and the Moody Blues toured with the Beatles in 64.

Too much about drunken idiocy, and not much about the early Moody Blues. He missed out on their visionary period. Seens obvious why.

@@kenrussell1093 Indeed, I'm sure he has! Just saw a documentary where Denny says he knew he would never be as famous as him because he wasn't in The Beatles "as Paul". Very interesting choice of words from Denny there 😉

OldSchoolVibes 1978 well, the more I read, the more videos I watch, and the more photos I see, I become more and more convinced that the PID conspiracy is valid. Hell, I don't even think of him as Paul anymore. But the one thing that truly amazes me, is how incredibly talented Faul is. But another thing, with all the incredible Beatle songs produced since '66, there has to have been a whole stable of ghost writers in the mix. But it's all good 👍

@@kenrussell1093 Yes Billy is a very talented guy and a workaholic with a massive amount of stamina. Suppose he's just making the most of the situation though, being picked out of obscurity to become of the most famous people in the world? It must hurt him not be recognised as his true self though? Hoping the truth comes out sooner than later anyway!

OldSchoolVibes 1978 Paul is replaced.all the Beatles are replaced.denny could have been any of them at any point.The reason he said “as Paul” is because he knows it’s all just role play.Paul is not dead however,he reappears pretty often.There is no “billy”.there have been many Paul’s but the “billy” you refer to is Phil Ackrill from Denny and the Diplomats.
