I kind of disappointed that the go to opinion on this channel is "where is the new hardware" At a time when companies in the DJ space are releasing new controllers every month, I think it's refreshing to see Denon prioritising software updates to existing hardware, over new units entirely. Not everyone has the cash to dump £2k on a new unit every 3-4 years, especially at the moment too, just to be able to access a couple of new features. Kudos to Denon.
That’s always been the strength of Engine, and one of the reasons it’s so good as an ecosystem. But inMusic DO want to sell hardware - if it was up them, every Prime 4 user would trade up to a 4+. And I’m saying that this hardware is not enough to make that happen. Everyone who owns a Prime 4 should update that to 3.1 and continue to enjoy it with all those new features.
I get that, but why even discontinue the Prime 4 to begin with? In my opinion, the Amazon music chip is not a great selling point to warrant a re-release of the same hardware. If I bought the Prime 4 used two weeks ago, I'd be super upset.
@@chinuarichardson8350 What does that have to do with discontinuing it or not? What specifically would yo be upset about, the prime 4 still gets all the updates.. What you said makes no sense.
@frank6013 what I'm basically saying is why go through the trouble of releasing a "new" piece of hardware that that's basically the exact same piece of hardware that was just discontinued not too long ago.
Just upgraded my SC6000s to 3.1 and am VERY happy to see the Touch FX are on the standalone decks as well. AWESOME! I have a Xone 96 with an Eventide H90 on my FX loop, but having these on-deck FX is sweet. Reminds me of the Kaoss Pad days. Great job Denon!
The only thing Denon can do right now to get rid of this version of the prime 4 is to give it spinning jog wheel i am waiting on that thought it would come dot no still waiting 😂 Who says spinning jog wheel??
I still have the SC5000s + X1800 and more recently a Prime Go.. The ever evolving Engine OS is making the strongest argument for hardware that CAN stand the test of time (and competition) as a result of a feature set that meets the evolving needs of today's DJs.
I was stunned to realize they added touch FX to the SC5k players. I have the x1850, but having x/y fx on each player independently is pretty damn amazing. So yeah, not bad for gear that came out almost 6 yrs ago.
same here. i just powered on my sc5000 & was grateful for bug fixes with an update, but when i saw the filter added, my brand loyalty went even further through the roof - the fact they're still updating their older hardware. i use an a&h mixer with my own external effects but having that on their for additional flavor & fun had me giddy.
@@audioel whoa wait. So you have effects in the players themselves now? Can you use the effects from the players while using another mixer that doesn't have effects? That would be tits
I don't think there will be any new hardware this year. The software needs updating much much more first and the new owners at NI clearly made this their priority.
The reason I moved to serato about for years ago. Before that, I was an hardcore traktor user for 15 years. NI just seem to completely lose interest in Traktor and it's customer base.
Thanks again for the excellent review! Would love to see the ability to rate songs directly on the players so you can easily fill a smart list with ratings filter.
i run sc6ks with a mastersounds radius 4 and having fx on the players is a massive increase in capability for me. There's really no decent auto bpm 3/4 echo from guitar pedals or even the mastersounds fx unit. Free fx upgrade for my setup. Thank you Denon!
stems for my prime 4 without using the laptop and or serato or virtual dj. thats what i wanna see. im waitting for it. because the prime 4 does everything else. stems Stem STEMS! Denon, Stems! then i think the prime 4 would be the killer stand alone...i mean to me it already is but if we add stems to the stand alone...no need for laptop and or serato. i love not having to lug around my laptop but ive been intrested in the stems feature and so ive been playing with that. But i dont like the wave forms for serato...really confusing to me since ive gotten use to engine os and now i have to get use to serato! ughhh. PLease Denon i beg for stems.....Mojack, put in a good word for me please. thanks again bro..just updated and gonna go play around! lol
Hi thx for your nice review as usual bro... what i would like to see next on my prime 4 is to have the ability to copy tracks from a usb stick or sd card inserted to it to my integrated ssd on the go through the unit itself without using the laptop to do it... and vice versa... 😊😉🤩
Broo everything aside I've been watching you since you were healthy and recently you're starting to get skinny i hope you're okay just checking up on you.i hope you're healthy and fine with you all the health in the World. ❤❤
Hoping to see the new FX hit the X1850 too! Pioneer really needs to update the Opus Quad to include streaming services and onboard analysis, especially at a $1000 premium over the Prime 4+
Pionner will put everything in an update! Equipment upgrade kkkkk! Opus Nexus! Kkkkkk. Where have you seen Pioneer update the firmware of a device included new things? I've never seen it!
The ability to play with stems in standalone would be amazing. To be clear, I'm asking for playing stems, not the ability to derive them. In the same way that music can be prepared on a computer and exported to a USB stick, whereby the analysis is done ahead of time, I see no reason this couldn't be expanded to include (where the user wants it) stem separation. The hardware would require some sort of user interface to allow the user to solo/mute the stems, and obviously sufficient processing throughput to play, manipulate and mix more tracks of audio.
It is still the best. I get the marketing and reason for adding the +. This unit is a really good pro-gear that was only missing a new chip which the + has. That will make future enhancements possible that are not on the Prime4. On the other hand I understand the dissapointment of not seeing a brand new design which could be "Prime 4 Pro" or another Prime name with larger wheels. But as it is..there is nothing much this cannot do and they are leading ALL competitions already so why waste $ on designing an already great product. Love the updates..
the only thing missing as lighting already was implemented to create the perfect Streaming Controller is mb a Coop with Blackmagic to create a Prime4 Stream! with HDMI Inputs and Outputs for Twicht and live Video Streaming Sessions. That would be a Killer. But i think thats not realistic sadly as willbe too expensive and BM is not part of the Inmusic Company. In Opposite to that i could imagine as they bought Arkaos that there will be a live Feature to control Arkaos or even do it live inside the unit with an external HDMI Out Box or something like that. That would make sense and make a difference on the market. Sadly they didnt develop further the Resolume Coop which is obviously the much better Software then Arkaos in many Points. Just the CPU in the + then need to be massivly stronger then in the P4 and im not sure if that makes sense from a Bussines Stanpoint about Production Costs.
I own a Denon Prime 4 since February 2020. I absolutely love it. This has been my main controller since January 2021. I did love to get the Denon Prime 4+ , but I can’t justify buying it now just to add one new feature. I use Amazon music, which will be very convenient for weddings. But I rather wait for the next one. The things I will like to see in the next generation Denon standalone controller is: Toggle switches to activate effects Stems feature Spinning platters (maybe) Bigger jog wheels (definitely) Ability to playback videos
Denon is innovating through updates which in this day is a massive bonus for buyers until Denon NEEDS to implement a newer console thank god we have a company that's not bending us over like other companies using same outdated internals but adding something you have to pay a premium for.
I literally just got the SC Live 4 - just placed the new package and ready to unbox today when all of a sudden, Mojaxx, Cleveland Terry, Phil w Digital DJ Tips videos drop for the Prime 4+. I knew this unit was going to come out based on my investigation weeks prior but any new gear drop can cause that fear n shock. In the end, I think I need to sit well with my decision for going with the SC Live 4 for $1300 vs a soon to be posted $2200 Prime 4+ which may or may not (most likely may) include stem features. I think with the money saved, I can wait for the Prime 4 mk3 a few years down the line if I get mileage out of the SC Live 4 and find myself looking for that upgrade. I can do Stems in Serato so ...yeah I'll live.
@@djason_music for sure! I just opened the new unit and super happy with everything! It's a great size, not too cramped but also smaller than my numark ns7iii that I will be selling off. The speakers are so convenient too! Not at all worried about jumping to a flagship prime 4
The sc4 is a completely different product due to its light weight. For the prime 4 with flightcase you need a truck, not something you carry around without preparation.
It wouldn't surprise me if the new update for the Denon prime 4 plus Will be standalone stems as Denon has been in the forefront of the latest technology for DJ gear. I currently have the Denon prime 4. But if this will be the update I'll be more than happy to buy the plus as stems gives the DJ the ability to remix songs like never before.
I hope the update Mojack is talking about will be for both the 4 and 4+. Ive owned my prime 4 since march 2020 plan-demic and I love my controller...just with i didnt need a laptop to play with stems...Besides my laptop barely can keep up with stems I5 5200 processor, Max of 12 gig Ram and 1T SSD hard drive. she barely gets the job done and i dont have the money to invest into a Mac with M1 right this moment. SO Denon, please please please give us prime 4 users stems. Prime 4 already a pioneer killer, lets input the fatality. Finish em!
@@Mojaxx Great job on getting healthy. People don't understand, good health, great dj. A lot of dj's need to work on their health. I Eat one to two meals a day and those meals are between 12 and 8. I go to the gym 4-5 days a week unless i have an event and can't make it. That meal is usually salmon or chicken with veggies. NO sugar. One day a week i eat what ever i want including sugar. That's how i survive the week of eating healthy. Just one day of unhealthy and it's great. Everyone is different so do what works for you.
And I need a billion dollars because my 500 million is not enough me. Fuck, we got the best gear on the market right now, for the ridiculous price of $2,300. There's never been anything like it in the past. You get all the Engine OS upgrades for free. But it's not enough for you... you want all the whistles and bells at once and immediately. A lot of customers are just plain ungrateful idiots.
@@djmartinsk 1) Tag system is not a whistle or bell, it's the main navigation if you are a truely flexible dj - for many age groups and preferences. Not all of us stay in the club and bounce between 2 genres only. I see people who constantly buy new music but don't even use what they have because they don't know how to tag music. It is not wrong to say that selection can be up to 90% of all the dj work in a live-situation. Doing the selection live is what makes me feel alive and that feeling is delivered to the people. Clubbing is not the only way for dj-s, the world is much wider, take your time and have a look.
I just want to search the playlist not the entire library like how you can do it in serato. My next feature is to switch between standalone and laptop seamlessly like on the pioneer xdi rx3
I can't help but be disappointed. The Prime 4 was a great release, but it was missing the Standalone Sampler function and split cue button and after they added it to engine 3.0, I was really hoping to see a Sampler button to replace the Slicer Loop on the next piece of hardware they released. I'll stay on the fence until they release the new unspoken feature. Again to recap, great Standalone, just barely missing the mark to begin with, and a reskin with an Amazon music chip doesn't even have the wow factor of the original.
Split Cue button is in the center next to the Sweep FX. Accessing Sampler is to double-tap Roll twice, which occupies an empty inventory slot where otherwise Slicer Loop is accessed by double-tapping Slicer button twice.
IMO, we'll need to reevaluate our opinion on the P4 vs P4+ debate once the new "P4+ only" features are released. Is it really just the exact same hardware?... or have Denon added more power to the chips/electronics that will allow the new unit to do, for example, Stem Separation (which is beyond the P4's capability). If that's the case, then Denon would have the only laptop free stems in the industry, and a standalone with that capability would definitely be a game changer. Of course, maybe the new feature(s) will be something completely different, but equally exciting. The next few weeks should prove interesting.
On the standalone aspect… The one thing that’s stopped me from being a standalone veteran is stems. I was just about to go full USB when stems dropped in 2020 (VDJ), and until that can be implemented on standalone gear, I really can’t see me moving away from my laptop as it’s become fundamental to my workflow. It’s the one thing I wouldn’t have now.
Well who saw that coming so quickly…? SC6000 series next. Would be nice if they could add mixer controls for blend adjustment when linked, but not sure how that integration might work.
I currently use a Prime 2 and I fell in Love with it. I’ve been wanting a Prime 4 for a while, so im excited I waited. This definitely will be my new upgrade!!
You and me both! Denon is smart because us Prime 2 users wanted the Prime 4, they made us hungry for it by discounting it, and NOW they have us excited for the Prime 4+ !! I HATE Smart DJ companies 😂.
Having done the 3.1-update on my Prime 4 I don't hear the SWEEP FX on my headphones any more (when the fader is turned down). If you can’t hear the low pass filter or high pass filter on the headphones (with fader down) I would call that a really bad result in terms of transitions with the filters. Is there any way to fix that? Thanks in advance!
For standalone future something with moving platters or incorporated into a mixer for dvs/rane 12 input Alternatively, given what in music have accomplished creating a great standalone experience across the board on relatively cheap hardware, full blown serato/engine/rekordbox on a dedicated hardware tablet. I.e. a bolt on to make any controller standalone
I thought the added Sampler would allow you to Record Samples on the fly. That would’ve been so much better since no other Controllers offer that feature.
Really glad to see a ¾ roll -- I've been wanting a ¾ loop feature forever so I can do this trendy house to dnb transition I've seen all over youtube, seems like that could do the job.
Great video, very well explained! I need help. For many years, I have owned pioneer(s) with serato, I do mobile DJ, clubs, and events (pool parties and festivals where they always provide equipment) I see Denon Prime 4, Pioneer Xdj xr3, and I am debating which to buy, I see Denon works with Serato and Engine standalone, Xdj xr3 with, Serato Rekordbox and is standalone. I keep hearing that Denon Prime 4 is one of the best in the market now, but I don't know if it will be an easy transition from Pioneer equipment to the Prime. My question is, which one do you guys recommend buying, because it is time for me to upgrade my equipment.
The first Standalone to NAIL the Stems is going to be very disruptive. Engine dj would be smart to make this happen . Being able to load a STEM FILE and make stem files on the fly would be dope as hell . Maybe the making part gets done on the computer. Oh ya and just give us the RGB on the tracks … everyone has it .. its pretty standard at this point .
If Native Instruments would actually utilize the stems system they developed years ago rather than kill the most effective ways to use it on their platform they would've had a major leg up...
@@TheBraveBlaze the issue why NI failed is that they put the cart in front of the donkey…. Had they nailed a STEM making algorithm that allowed users to make their own stems from stereo tracks and then released the STEM player I think it would of been a real game changer. But NI has the bad reputation of making things that have potential that are left to die . Look at the maschine plus as a big example … it’s an overpriced midi controller at the end of the day . For it to be effective you still need to complete tracks with a computer attached… bake (vst ) all the tracks as audio back out them back into the unit for it to be a viable live playback instrument. Fred again makes that thing look like the best thing since slides bread . When in reality it’s under powered and hasn’t been popular enough for them to even have rumours of a MK2 in 3 years . And even when they have hit gear they just move on to the next thing. The Kontrol D2 was a favourite amongst tons of DJs … Carl cox … chus & ceballos are still playing on those units and yet NI hasn’t made a new version since it’s launch date in 2015 ! I was a NI fanboy for the longest time they just pivoted too hard into their toy controllers for new djs . And I hear rumours that NI is looking to sell the DJ division. So I’m not really paying attention to NI . It’s too bad
goddamn, just upgraded the 6k, and the FX is gooooooood. Denon got a customer for life with how good the hardware is and how good the software has become....
Considering how on point InMusic has been with their brands lately, It wouldn't surprise me if the next update is gonna be amazing. They're killing it with Akai, Denon gear has been improving in leaps, i like how solid their hard and software is to a point it has replaced all the Pioneer gear in my studio. I'm very curious to see what's coming next.
I was hoping to hear something at NAMM 2024 in regards to a New Prime 2+ or anything Denon DJ gear related. Bummer.. Still going to hold out this year to see if my wishes come true. If not, I have a few options. 1. Prime 4+, Pioneer Dj RX3. Rane 4 or DDJ FLX10. Wallet is standing by
I really need to see better quality hardware. We are all familiar with the drama surrounding the 3000s, and the screen issues with the x1850 has me scared to buy one. Gear is insanely too expensive for them to be having these issues.
yo tengo las sc5000 con el mixer x1800 ya las actualize y muy muy brutal me quedo con denon sc5000 que pioneer 3000 estas maquinas con esta actualizacion dejan lejos las pioneer
@Mojaxx will you be posting a video on the FX implementation for the SC6000 players? Really curious how that works. As for standalone, I think Denon has nailed it, for Pioneer they need to fix their terribly outdated browser and search, it's so bad they almost force you to create playlists which is not how I play.
They should of added the stems on all denon product.Whats the use of getting the prime 4 plus when u got a prime 4 already..When they update to 3.1 that stems should of been added as well..Also They could of had the samples where u can use a sample as a dj tag or while playing your music instead u can only use the sample like u playing music..
Unfortunately I followed advice and updated, well last night had a wedding and what a failure it was froze 3 times, screen issues, playing with no visuals at one point played 3 songs at once while all were off.
Oh I forgot to add, it’s in the setup options to reduce the noise generation so the Noise Gate effect can have the level you’d like. Try reducing that a little.
Im using prime go and prime 2, i would like to have a feature where u will be able to Annalise the whole hardrive with folders instead of creating playlist.
Mojaxx, would like to see the stand alone to have their version of stems. I thought the new update would give me the option to have serato control but I want the option at lest or give me stems…
I currently use a Pioneer DDJ 800 at home and take my DDJ 400 to hang out with on the road. I'm close to making the move to stand alone and I'm about ready to pull the trigger on an XDJ RX3. I've always been a fan of the Dennon DJ Prime 4 and now with this somewhat updated Prime 4+, is it worth the upgrade in hardware to switching from Rekordbox to Engine software
my feature request list for standalone with a battery and detachable decks, kind of like a nintendo switch, so that when you take it home you can plug some bigger player controllers into in like the lc6000 a standalone with big rotary mixer controls a rane standalone with moving platters how about pioneer decks that don't cost 3500usd or aren't 7 years old I want to see a standalone by native instruments but in white i want to see denon pivot from blue and green into a more pink and purple brand opus duo with 8 inch screen those big rubberised jog wheels and less of batman maybe more wonderwoman a standalone with phase support and no jog wheels a standalone by denon DJ that had no branding at all, to beat opus quad with one mention of Pioneer DJ a standalone with a monthly subscription for it to turn on algoriddem djay standalone in partnership with reloop with like Apple Vision support so you can see people dancing in your bedroom a Serato DJ standalone that represents version 4 of their software where they only support standalones that they make.
