Thanks for your detailed review. I am aware many haters rant about the speakers, but honestly... I love them! When doing outdoor mixes and jams 4 fun, you have the monitors always with you. No hassle with extra speakers, stands and cables. For $1300, including the full SDJ Pro unlock, this is a sweet all-in-one package. I only miss a slightly bigger screen and RGB deck indicators.
Thanks very much for this review, as usual, you have knocked the ball out of the park, really, really excellent work . I have been using Denon standalone gear since the legendary Dn Hd 2500 which even today is a phenomenally good unit. It's great to see how Denon continue to deliver brilliant tech.
Since i am a mobile DJ the SC Live 4 was a dream come true for me. I was going to upgrade from the Numark Mixstream Pro to something, regardless. But the Prime 4 is too big and bulky once you put it in a case. The Prime 2 is discontinued. And the Prime Go isn't a justifiable upgrade from the Mixstream Pro. The SC Live is the HUGE upgrade that I was looking for.
I loved this review and I've finally decided to get this instead of the Prime 4+. I prefer the mixer layout on this to the Prime and even though the 7 inch screen is way smaller than the Prime's 10 inch, the trade off with the mixer layout, and the fact that it's 50% cheaper, makes it feel like the right choice for me. Thanks for helping me decide.
@@grahamkelly8662 yes, I bought it. And yes, I would say it was worth it. The only things that bother me about it is that all the lights don't always come on when I turn it on, so I sometimes have to restart it. And it records my mixes at way to low a volume. But other than that, I really love it. I would recommend spending the extra €60 on the decksaver, which is really sturdy.
@@rochederekmartin085 are you able to mix like you would on a vinyl turntable? Hit start, hold the record with hand or in this case the jog wheel, hold the beat and drop it, just like I would with actual vinyl? To mix like a proper dj? And does it feel like using a technics 1210 direct drive, when using jog wheel to mix? Or does it feel nasty like a cheap beat drive turntable? If this thing handles like belt, I absolutely can’t buy it. I need to mix my songs juat like I would with vinyl. This is doable? Also, do you know if it’s possible that stems may come to this device? I kinda wanted the prime 4 plus for stems, so I can take the beat away and just mix vocal on to another track but at double the price, I’m hesitant and especially because it has non club layout and I’m used to a sim 600 and the Denon live 4 has same layout. And would you say the built in speakers on Denon live 4 are good enough to have fun mixing in bedroom? Decksaver? Is this a protective carry case? If so, I already searched on Amazon and they have 1 for Denon sc live 4. It’s expensive at £90 or about €100 but will be worth it . I don’t need to move it anywhere but I do want to protect against dust. Do you think it’s possible that you are recording your mixes wrong and just need to mess with settings to get to record correctly? If you work this out, could you get back to me? Thank you. Long story short. I’ve not been able to mix in 10 years. Living situation and if I buy this Denon live 4. I can simply turn on and mix my digital songs no need for laptop, speakers, leads etc and the built in speakers may work for me because I can’t play loud music and if they sound good enough, I’d finally get back to mixing. I’d probably rip all my vinyl and just mix the MP3’s via usb stick on Denon live 4 and not have family moan about noise.
Correction: The Xdj screen you are comparing the sc live 4 with isn’t better. Yes The sc live 4 screen is smaller. As a matter fact it is the same size as the sc5000 the sc live 4 is a multi-touch screen whereas the xdj is a plastic screen.
So just for mixing for fun, you don’t really need to be able to read what’s on the screen with the smaller 7inch display? The jog wheels show anything you need, right?
Can you switch decks 3 & 4 off entirely somewhere in the menu so they won't take up space in the screen? Also, can you do a track seek with the jogwheel somehow?
Don’t really know what the big fuss is about the speakers being a gimmick. Yes you are not going to use them professionally. But what’s the problem? I love the speakers on there. I use them for cueing and prepping my tracks and when I DJ, I use proper speakers. Makes my life so much easier instead of plugging in a 2000w speaker or clamping down my ears with headphones for 2 hours. Guess people are just spoilt and love to complain. This is designed to be apart of a bedroom setup and maybe house parties where your uncles will be too drunk to notice that your mix was shit, so what does it matter? 😂
Totally agree. The speakers are infinitely convenient, and you really start to miss them when you move to a regular DJ controller or standalone system.
I love them for outdoor mixes as well. People forget, that you can drive the whole unit with a 12V powerbank, it doesnt get even more mobile than this (okay and the new Mixstream Pro Go)
Very good explanation! As far as overall feel, which one feels better to work with, Sc 2 or mixstream? If they were equally priced, do you think the denon would be superior? Thank you, I have subbed your channel 🙏🏼
Any1 know if it’s possible the sc live4 may get stem support in an update? I ask because it’s either Sc live 4 at £1000 Prime 4 plus £1900 The only real feature the prime 4 has that interest me is stems and possibly hooking up 1 or 2 turntables. I’m leaning to the live 4 but stems sounds incredible to me but also I’m worried prime 4 may feel too big. It’s 1 or the other or maybe I’ll buy the live4 and if I like it A lot, I can use for maybe 1 year, sell for few hundred less then I paid and buy prime 4. Any1 have any input? Thank you in advance .
Just wondering, why all youtube videos about these “android devices” are just hours and hours of bla-bla and not a single video of a sterling life performance? Does it even working or it’s just some future prototype?😁
What Android device are you referring to? To answer your question, it’s because this is a review video and not a performance video. We have PassionateDJ.com/music for that. Thanks for watching :)
No, not at all. Everything remains the same. You can simply put the very same USB/SD you have used so far into your new unit without any additional preparation. They all run the same OS :)
