What I love even more than his incredible ability on the instrument is that you can see how much he enjoys what he does! Very few people can say that they make a living doing what they love!

If someone didn’t know who Paul was, they’d see this video and think, “wow, I didn’t know Charlie Sheen could play an instrument like that!”.

@amrein I am pretty sure this comment just shows that you are oblivious to the fact that musical eras do not just start, they are transitioned into. I do not remember too many middle age pieces that have so many variations.

@amrein its also that different people have different tastes in music. No need to bag on something just because you dont like it. Also I dont pertically like modern stuff, I like performing which is kind of wierd =). But we dont go on your vids and make fun of why it sounds that way. Just different prefances. Just get along with everyone =)

I realize DPP is a big advocate of the Bb/F/G/Eb tuning these days, but this horn look an awful lot like a Bb/F/Gb/D horn with the Gb slide pushed in. Which I can't even imagine getting a middle if the staff D with in first (like Blair Bollinger's tuning). Idk, curiosity killed the cat I guess. Just wondering.

It's an Edwards. Paul is now a Courtois artist. While most bass trombonists have their valves in F and Gb, Paul has his in F and G.

just hum while playing. Do it on a mouthpiece first then translate that into the instrument. Pretty easy.

@amrein I think your trying to please other people, not yourself, play music that you want to experiance/like, its not about what other people want.
@gmmiddleton
@gmmiddleton 14 лет назад
I find your value judgment of this music disappointing. People like the music they like. From your videos, I think you of all people would understand this. To answer your initial question, the reason for such a piece is that it is an ENCORE. Go to 5:15 and you will hear the reason for this piece.

He gets a little lazy with the triggers
@dyllonross3714
@dyllonross3714 5 лет назад
Do you expect him to pay many thousands of dollars for an instrument with triggers and then seldom use them? That's like saying someone is "getting lazy" for using a remote instead of getting up and walking every time they wish to change the TV's volume
@jessecohen4517
@jessecohen4517 3 года назад
@@dyllonross3714 I disagree with his use of triggers but if it sounds good then that is all that is important
@tromboneman4517
@tromboneman4517 2 года назад
If he’s lazy, then why is he one of the world’s greatest trombonists? That would not happen if he were lazy about any aspect of his playing.
