I know this is what you are being taught, however it is very sad that students and doctors don't realize if one has to be careful in the disposing of mercury (heavy metal), would it make sense that this is something that does not belong in a persons body, especially in their mouth. So many people suffer from mercury (amalgam) poisoning. Most people don't know this. I know you can't challenge your teachers on this, however, I would encourage you to do some research on your own. It is not only mercury, it is also other metals and materials that go into peoples mouths. Read a book called It’s All In Your Head, by Dr. Hal Huggins. He was one of the first dentist who did research and experiments on this. There are many other alternative dentist and doctors who have good knowledge on this topic, as well. This maybe something you can discuss with other classmates of yours. Root canals can cause health problems for people, as well. God be with all of you in you studies!
