I finally passed my DAT exam after all the stress.I thank God for the great opportunity and my tutor Thomas 🎊🎊🎉🎉 All my prayers to those struggling to pass through DAT cause it hasn't been easy.I hope y'all make it some day too Amen🙏
I have a cousin who never studied much,we studied together but she gives most of her time to her phone than studies after writing DAT last month, she passed and I failed😣, I asked her how she did it, just found out she got her help from Mr Thomas ..
Her video condensed into notes: 1. Scrubs are expensive - Certain schools have requirements on color - Save money on Scrubs 2. Dental School is VERY detail-oriented - for example, every depression, curve, crevice of a tooth has a name 3. Dental school is challenging - the first year is lecture based, rest of the years are more hands on and more clinic based 4. Dental school is very hands-on - in your third year, you’ll have your own patients because you can’t just learn it from a book, so you need to practice on someone - By the time you graduate, you need to have done a certain amount of crowns, fillings...etc. 5. When you graduate from dental school, you will be a doctor - You learn about other parts of the body part aside from learning the mouth when you are in dental school - it will be hard work but it’s also why you end up with the doctor title.
Fiona Luo Hello!, uhm I live in albania and this month ill start my first year of university (dentistry), but im not so very suree of my choice. Im in between dentistry or law school, do you think law school is more easy and rewarding too?😩
It depends. If you are more about rights and you can get easly Info in your head and memorize it, then law school is A good choice, but it will be hard to get well laid job, you have to be one of the bests to get clients and well paid. If you like helping people and make them smile, and if you don't want to read docoments all the time when you are studying and, when you finished school. Then dentist is great option
I have been searching for my dream job for so long, and I know I’m in middle school, and things can change. But a Dentist man, I’m so excited! I’ve been researching about this all day and I can’t believe my luck at finding this. I’ve been to a dentist before but now I’m just realizing that the dentist that made me have a confident smile could be me someday!
Hello. I'm so happy to see a black woman in dental school such an inspiration. I plan on going to dental school and I'm so excited! you're so pretty btw good luck! Also, what is your career choice? Mine is an Oral and maxillofacial surgeon
queen b aww thank you so so much! I’m pursuing General Dentistry, but that’s awesome you’re interested in specializing!! Best of luck and keep me updated !
this video is so motivational..honestly i made a mistake by taking business studies in my a levels... and i had really mixed feelings about it.. so now all i want is to be a dentist and now im working so hard every single day to get a really good GPA and get accepted in dental school
I am only a sophomore in High School but this was definitely worth it to watch the video, it allowed me to see that this is what I want to pursue... can you maybe do a video on what you took in undergrad, and what are the most common courses that are pre-requisites for dental school?
Currently completing my undergrad courses before applying to Dental School and this video has restored my faith. Ultimately I want to be a dentist but I saw soooo many negative things about dental school that I started to question my decision. You make it seem totally doable. Thank you!
Liked & subscribed. My daughter will be attending ECU as a Biology major to pursue dentistry. I will share this video with her. Your information was very informative & you are a jewel. I appreciate you sharing such a wealth of knowledge and love how “real” the content is. As I tell my daughter; you will be a doctor. You must speak it as though it were. Prayers up for you & her. God Bless❤️
Thank you so so much! This means so much to me. I pray your daughter has an amazing experience in undergrad as well as dental school that will equip her to become an amazing dentist!
Automatic subscribe! I’m so glad I found you!! It’s rare seeing current dental students on RU-vid explaining their experience etc and on top of that a woc! Haven’t finished this video because I’m omw to work but i will be binge watching 😭❤️
Firstly I want to say how great this video is. It made me feel so much more inspired to get into dentistry. I know I’m commenting quite late, but can you specialise in cosmetics in dentistry. As in you focus more on the aesthetics of the tooth rather than illness. Im really interested in helping people achieve teeth goals in terms of aesthetic pleasing to them and hoping I could specialise in this.I tried researching but I couldn’t find much.
Aw thank you!! So cosmetic dentistry isn't an official specialty, but yes, once you graduate, you can decide that you want to see more cosmetic patients and/or work in a cosmetic dentistry office.
Watching this instead of studying for Technology of Operative Dentistry-4 Quiz in 3 hours 😄. procrastination feels great sometimes, and nothing beat the adrenaline rush of finishing chapters in a small amount of time.
Working is near impossible during dental school. Everything is paid for with government loans (rent, gas, trips, etc). I also do private tutoring once or twice a week on the side.
I loved this video! I'm starting dental school this coming September and I'm stressed! I don't know if I should start learning dental anatomy and practicing basic hand skills (by doing Art or other things). I just want to make sure that I can hit the ground running.
Honestly I’d just take a break. There’s no rush at all. Dental school is the beginning of a lot of work and stress. I really enjoyed my last semester and summer of undergrad. I had soo much fun! Art sounds great though! If you reallllyyy wanna start studying, Maybe download the “dental lite” app. It’s really good for beginners tooth identification. Congrats on your acceptance!
I am having a hard decision in deciding dental hygienist or becoming a dentist. And the reason for that is bc of the expenses On becoming a dentist. How do you handle that ?
I Soo Soo soo bad want to be a dentist , it's my passion , I always watch this type of videos thank u very much for this one it is just what I needed 😍🙏
I'm going to dentist school to when I finish high school in 2023 🙏🏼🥳. Question if I may ask how old are you? And what requirements did u need to get in
i want to be a dentist its been my dream for a long time im in highschool now but i just thought about when im gonna practice on a patient and im gonna be so shaky and so nervous what if i make a mistake im scared byehhnddjhnjsnk
1. You do not need to buy $50 scrub sets. This is so wasteful and not economical. I bought a weeks worth (5 full sets) on a clearance rack at Uniform City for $100 that have lasted me 5 years now. Plus, once you graduate you'll probably be in formal wear at your office so you won't need to wear scrubs all the time.
Be Debt FREE that’s awesome to hear that you found that deal! Please share where you found it so others (including myself) can benefit. I also have found very good deals on scrubs, but in this video I was speaking on my experience and those of my classmates in general. Thanks in advance for sharing!
I’m so happy to have come across this video! How hard or challenging was dental school? How complex is it and how we’re you able to memorise everything?
I never see anyone take the AA (associates degree at community college) route when it comes to dental school. I was going to join Collin dental hygiene program. Especially since I just want to be a dental hygienist (no specialization) Whats your thoughts?
Hi! I love your video and find it very insightful!! If a student struggled with biology but is considering dentist school - do you think they should still consider dental school?
Your videos really inspire me. I'm going into college as a Pre-dental wish me luck! What did you major in, in college? Does a particular major really matter?
I honestly can't say because I've never been to medical school. I have heard that they're both equally difficult from some people that have attended both.
I'm thinking of becoming a dentist but the thing is that I actually fear blood, do you think that becoming a dentist is right for me and do you know how I can overcome it because I can't find anything that makes be overcome blood
My mom used to be terrified of blood, now she's going on 15 years as a nurse! It becomes easier when you are not treating family or friends. If I see my brother get a scratch, I'm lightheaded lol
@@DoctorKrysten oh wow that's actually inspiring so like now I actually have hope to enter dental school!! thanks a lot and don't forget to tell your mom that I said thank you for letting me have faith in going to dental school :3
How did you take the prerequisites for dental school with a sports medicine degree? Did the undergrad degree satisfy all your prerequisites needed for dental school?
I am a dentist going to Dental School is NOT a good investment! No one in admissions will ever tell you this. Most graduate and think they can repay their loans in 5-7 years. That is near impossible. It will be almost impossible for the next gen of dentist to pay off their debt in less than 25 years. If you are smart enough to get into dental school GO do something else you will be relatively better off.
I'm sorry that has been your experience, but thanks for sharing your view! I just hope that no one was discouraged from pursuing something they're really passionate about because of your comment. Best wishes!
@@DoctorKrysten well I never said there wasn't any passion. It wasn't meant to discourage it's reality. Ask anyone that's been out less than 4 years. You'll understand once you get out there and see. Passion is half the equation. Just saying numbers don't make sense anymore. Best of Luck.
Thank you for these videos they really help me because I really want to be a dentist although I have a question I’m allowed to pick my subjects next year should I go for physics oder chem?
Do you secretly wish you went to medical school, suffer from the usual dentist inferiority complex when compared to physicians? Any plans to specialize?
Nope! Dentistry is so much fun to me. And it gives me soooo much flexibility in what I want my career to look like in the future. And if I wanted to have a more “MD hospital experience,” I could just work at a hospital as a General Dentist or specialize in pediatrics or Oral Maxillofacial Surgery. Really good question! And yes, I’m thinking about specializing 🤔

I want to go to a university can I take 2 years of dental hygienist and then go to dental school like you I'm just not sure where to go because my university nau only has dental hygienist and my other one doesint have any??
In order to get into dental school, you have to take all the required classes that are listed on the school's website. Yes, you can go to dental hygiene school, but that alone won't make you meet the requirements to get into dental school. You have to take the required courses. Hope this helps!
Hello, i really like your channel. I found it helpful and interesting to know about dental school. But i have a question is it really important to to dental students to be very social with other students or? And how long is it take students to be social ? Thank you
Hi! And thank you so much. I'm glad you like it! I'd say it's not necessary, but it will make dental school a lot more enjoyable. Also, it's important to be sociable with your patients so having solid social skills will help a lot with patient relatability as well as patient retention later on when you are working in dentistry. Hope this helps!
Im a freshman and not next year but the year after we have something called a career center. Me and my friend are thinking abou taking a dental class there when were old enough, but I don't think im smart enough . Is it really difficult to learn about every single tooth?
It varies slightly between most schools, but for the most part they require general and organic chemistry + lab, biology + lab, biochemistry, physics, english. If you want to attend a specific dental school, I'd recommend looking on the schools website for their requirements. Here's a link that will give you a more detailed description for what you're looking for. Hope this helps! www.ada.org/en/education-careers/careers-in-dentistry/be-a-dentist/applying-for-dental-school

I’m glad I came across this video! I’m actually changing my major to dentistry and interested in the Texas A&M dental school located in Dallas! I originally went to Texas A&M in college station for meteorology but life changes! I’m either doing dental hygiene, dentist or orthodontist
I’m only 13 but I feel pressured to figure out what I’m going to pursue when I get older,my parents say they’d love for me to be a dentist and I’ve been thinking about it alot and I think I’m a bit interested now
You have plenty of time to wrestle with the idea of what you want to do. I'd suggest exploring many different options (including dentistry) and seeing what you gravitate the most to!
Hey Alyssa, thanks for your video about dental school that will help so much students for their choices. I wanted to know if you have advice to succeed in practice .. We usually don't have more time than practical work to improve our abilities. Any advice?
