Dentex from 35m - dive time  

In deep spearfishing "relaxation is the key" and freediving plays a very important role. Time stands still when we hunt for Dentex in the deep blue abyss, but no other fish can drive you as crazy as a moody Dentice when it starts to negotiate its reluctance to approach. That's why most Med spearos consider this Mediterranean Snapper as the highest prize to catch. Regardless of his "game" we need to focus on our own. We must keep our calm, be patient, stay sharp and most importantly - let it go and head back to the surface when our bottom time is up.

1. Dive safe
2. Spearfish sustainably
Freediving is the mother of spearfishing.
Without possessing the basic freediving knowledge and skills any underwater activity on a single breath of air can easily lead to tragic consequences. Therefore it's highly recommended to complete a dedicated freediving course with a qualified instructor.
Once you learn the essentials and master the basic feediving skills you will be able to enjoy this amazing sport in a safe and enjoyable way by simply respecting your own body and the rules and safety protocols of freediving.
As for spearfishing itself - if you are just starting out then you really want to get some proper mentoring from an experienced spearfisher in order to kick-start and minimize the risks involved. Also, you want to be 18 years of age or older in order to handle a speargun. Make sure to check this with your local laws and regulations before indulging in spearfishing activities.
