I hope that Sophie is living a happy & healthy life today. I know what this family is going through my grandson was born with hydrocephalus & he had a stroke in utero. He had two brain surgeries by the time he was 2 weeks old & he now has a shunt placement. The first brain surgery was ETV/CPC but it didn’t work so then they did the shunt placement. The medical staff at Advent Health were amazing, caring & saved my grandson’s life. I understand this families’ concern about these extensive surgery’s for children with hydrocephalus have to go through. It would be a blessing & a dream come true if science did come up with a way to keep these children alive without having a shunt placement but in the meantime I am grateful for the shunt placement because it is what’s keeping my grandson alive. God bless all the medical staff out there that are helping these children.
SURGERY WAS THE ONLY WAY MY DAUGHTER LIVES TO THIS DAY BECAUSE OF BRAIN SURGERY. CONGENITAL HYDROCEPHALUS WAS PRETTY MODERATE TO SEVERE FOR HER. The surgery saved her life.
My son is 8 months old and has had 5 brain surgeries due to Hydrocephalus. We knew he had it since his 20 wk scan. He's had 2 brain bleeds. 2 seizures. But is doing great otherwise.
