Denver Health's School-based Health Centers: What You Need to Know (TV Interview)
Denver Health physician assistant Kelli Shanahan sat down with the TV program "Great Day Colorado" to talk about the 19 school-based health centers (SBHC) located inside of Denver Public School (DPS) locations throughout Denver.
The SBHC's are outpatient primary care pediatric clinics run by Denver Health, available to all DPS students and their siblings, offering services such as well child checks, immunizations, management of chronic conditions, mental health, dental and more.
SBHC's help remove barriers to access for families, making health care more convenient, making for less time spent away from class for a doctor's appointment and making it easier for parents in that they do not have to take time off work for their child's appointments.
SBHC services are available at no cost to families and there are no co-pays; if families have insurance, their insurance will be billed for services. Financial assistance is also available.
