It’s hard to understand the data about safety, and whether Denver is a safe place to live or not. Here are my honest thoughts.
Honestly: how safe is Denver, Colorado?

as someone who grew up near philadelphia, lived in denver for 4 years and is now back in philadelphia, i personally think denver is extremely 'safe'. but i can certainly understand why someone from wyoming or rural colorado would think otherwise.

Downtown Denver has gone to hell. Tent cities popping up everywhere. People drive like shit. That's what you get for being a blue state.

Don’t forget the buses of migrants. Denver has never had a skid row but we surely do now

Sam, definitely agree Denver is not as bad as many crime-ridden cities listed lower in the ranking. Most of the time it is easy to feel safe walking around downtown. The "But" to the statement is more regarding the general trend to the opposite. Public transportation, riding the lightrail specifically, can be a terrifying experience with people doing drugs and tweaking on the train right in front of you. The ever increasing amount of tents and homeless on the streets has significantly detracted from any desire to go downtown. This is not strictly a Denver problem though, more a major US city at large problem.

100% agree and very well put. It’s been a rough few years for our country, and cities in particular. I definitely see some things that have gone the wrong direction in Denver. Hoping we can turn those around sooner than later!

Hi Sam 👋🏽😄 my question is, does Denver (specifically) receive alot of snow (or any at all) around Christmas time ? Like do ya'll get to have that full on White Christmas where you get to wake up on Christmas day to snowfall & the city being covered in a blanket of snow ❄☃️ ? Or does the snow usually hits later on into the new year completely missing the hoildays ?

denver in december can really run the entire gamut of weather. one day it could be 75 degrees and sunny and the next day you could be looking at 2 feet of snow out your window. and if it does dump that much snow on you, it's probably going to be melted away by the sun within a day or two after the storm passes.

We usually get more snow during the spring (March stands out in my memory). As Rabidgoon mentioned, it is not at all uncommon to have highs of 70+ in December in Denver. This year (2023), we also got down to -10F or so for several days in February. So it's not like we don't get snow... it's just perhaps not when you would expect.

Hey Mellz! These guys did a really good job of summing it up. I don’t remember too many fully white christmases, but it can happen at any time through the winter!

It’s filthy in comparison to what it was 3 years ago. City is in a total decline, live outside of the city if you want a peaceful life
