Troy wasn't a real man that deserved any respect. he was an abusive father to Corey. he basically abandoned his first son Lyons and wonders why his son's life is in chaos and why he acts the way he does. if you're an absent parent or just a God-awful parent, and your children grow up and their lives are disaster zones, it is your fault. Troy was cheating on his wife. then brings his child from the side chick home and expects Rose to raise the baby with him and to help him clean up his mess. Troy was very selfish. Troy was also very jealous of his son's athletic abilities and couldn't stand knowing that Corey would be able to have the success that clearly eluded him. now I ask you, does that sound like a good man who deserves respect?
Hell no but Troy did give his son the life lesson he needs to learned the speech the dad gave on why he doesn't like him that second only good thing he did for his son
I would've loved Rose to resd him for flith telling Troy thst she hopes Corey succeeds in becomes high ranking just so he can boast about going farther thsn his dad ever did
I agree my father did this to be and when I finally snap and we went at it and I mean went at it, he really try to pull a gun on me, and realize it’s not loaded he really pulled the triggered and you best bet my mom saw it, my siblings it and now I know he’s a piece of shit. And I was living with my grandparents my grandpa wanted to shoot my dad. But he taught me no let god deal with him not you. And now I’m with a woman I love and have 2 sons twins and I tell them I love them and proud of them, everyday and god bless them. Never heard my father told me he’s proud of me just threatens and blames and try to justify his behavior and actions but no. Your a piece of shit human being
@@miagrassTroy wasn’t even right on that facet either. Nobody said you have to be your kids friend but you should show compassion, empathy, and just be there for them. The result of tough parenting usually ends up in estranged relationships
@LuckyNeuron-ys8sy I believe he does love his son however I don't believe he knows how to show love bc obviously he wasn't brought up that way so his way is feeding, making sure he is cloth and educated and driving lesson getting his son ready for the world and the last lesson is that speech which is the greatest lesson a child would have to learn " everybody ain't going like but that doesn't not matter what you should care is are that person doing right by you"
From what I understand of this movie, this wasn't the older guy's way of teaching respect, rather it was him wanting to make his son continue to fear him and feel justified about doing. After all, what kind of father pushes a kid to the point they have to pull out a weapon to defend themselves them?
@@Vex-iy8zmI can understand following your parents lead bc they have more experience and wtv but if your parent happens to be an insensible prick like Denzel (excellent acting btw) you have every right to do so.
@@blackcrow3718the problem here is that Denzel is this movie is an actual pos. I rlly hope y’all don’t have kids. Doing exactly what your grandpa did to your dad and so on so forth. Show compassion it’s not that hard
