Denzel Washington's name has become synonymous with Hollywood box office blockbusters. In 2005, he spoke with Ed Bradley about his acting career - both in movies and theater. "Acting is not work; acting is a privilege and it’s a craft," he told 60 Minutes.

The woman that Denzel talks about at the beginning of this interview in his mother's beauty salon when Denzel asks his mother who is this woman making these predictions. She is my grandmother her name is Ruth Green. Every time I hear Denzel mention this story about my grandmother over the years it blows me away. My grandmother passed away. But I am very grateful to Denzel over the years for mentioning the event that happened with my grandmother. Also, my mother who is Ruth Geen's daughter would tell me throughout the years that she used to babysit Denzel when he was a little boy. Her name is Mary Robinson aka Tootsie. There is no one like Denzel Washington , as an actor he is iconic , in his generation , he’s the best , a couple of Oscar’s under his belt , a much in demand actor , always , like I said there is no like Denzel Washington , gifted, handsome as hell, a talent so big barely holds a movie screen , just saw his last Equalizer going to miss the franchise excellent movie like the other 2, he’s a national treasure like I said , there is no one like Denzel Washington.

The love he had for his mum. I saw an interview with him on Steven Colbert after she died and he cried. My heart broke for him bc I know what it's like to owe your mum everything. I'm glad he was able to repay her and hope I can do the same with mine someday.

Denzel Washington is such a good actor that he can just melt into his character, and make you forget its him. Tom Hanks is another who can pull that off. Some actors will always be the same character to me. For example, Keanu Reeves will always be "Ted" in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. No matter what character Denzel plays, he becomes that character. Top notch

It was never about $ for him, it was about freeing himself & others on display in real time while he was purporting his initiative to demonstrate what he truly believed in, and that is character in self, no matter what the platform entails, he owned it in that moment right then and there. I'm a pro musician who plays a lot of high end weddings in New England (I'm from Boston). We usually have to load in through the service elevators in the expensive hotels. One day I'm loading in at the Four Seasons and I'm holding the elevator door open telling my drummer directions to the correct ballroom for the event. In walks Denzel! I say I'm sorry to him for holding up the elevator and he politely says "no worries, go ahead" and I give my drummer lengthy instructions on how to find the room we are playing. Denzel patiently waits and I'm like (I'm holding up Denzel F'n Washington to give my drummer directions!). Lol. He was very gracious and I realized he took the service elevators to remain anonymous and not be accosted by people. True story. Next time I'll tell you about how I played a wedding and the actor who played Gustavo Fring from Breaking bad was next to me taking pictures. lol. Another true story.

I love this man. He is an amazing actor. And his accent is excellent. I've seen a lot of his movies. And he is amazing. The problem is that he doesn't make a lot of movies. Or they don't show his films. What can I say about him. His English is excellent. And I don't speak English. But it's easy for me to hear him... I wish you a lot of success and a lot of movies.
