TRUTH: He tried to use Mike and it backfired. Now he a bad friend bcuz you couldnt use him. He didnt want to buy the whole catalougue & after John Lennon wife declined to go half on the catalogue he figured since Mike did Mike would be naive enought to give him the Beatle Catalougue. I wish he would tell the story right.
Lies. He didn’t charge MJ for his song collaboration or for filming MJ’s music video. He also didn’t try to go half with Yoko. He hated her for breaking up the Beatles and Lennon’s marriage. He would never speak to her, let alone go partner. You act like he didn’t know rich people like the other two Beatles. He had plenty of money, assets, and credit. All he did was share his excitement with someone he considered a friend. If it’s just business let it be that but don’t like MJ was some saint.
@@camwhite4015that’s false. McCartney gave The Rolling Stones a song early on because they needed a hit. He also let Ye sample two songs and did FourFiveSeconds because he respected Ye’s genius. Just like he collab’d with MJ. McCartney wasn’t asking MJ to be on his album. All he did was do the King of Pop a favor and MJ betrayed him. It is what it is.
@@oophorror2251 sounds good but its speculation. based on mikes dealing with other people that sounds like a stretch. whats more likely is mccartney said or did something to offend mike so he took revenge. Him collaborating with mike wasnt a favor mike was one of the hottest things going at the time
@@oophorror2251 there’s more to this story. Even when mj was supposedly in dire financial straits he did not sell that catalog but at least a significant portion of it was sold within a a few years of his passing. If it was a betrayal why the hell would he tell him and im paraphrasing “I’m buying your catalog “. He coulda have easily done it using some company without his name on it like Kathryn j holdings llc (which he’d have to do anyway to manage the licensing oyalties etc) . No need to tell the artist directly. Also friend or not the artist can’t sell there rights to their creations for cheap and enjoy the short term benefits only to be upset when someone buys it back for 400x the price. It’s a good deal now but if it was at the team they wouldn’t have sold it to him.
Michael Jackson’s catalog is the most valuable catalog in history and no one will ever come close in their lifetime. No one will sell more than Michael Jackson ever even though he’s dead. His music is STILL selling today worldwide.
I figured this HAD to be true but looking into it, it turns out Michael’s catalogue was sold at $600million while Queen’s was sold for over 1.2billion?! so technically he’s #2?? IMO his music is way way way more valuable but I guess the numbers is what the numbers is 🤷🏽♂️
Um you should probably look up prince.....all his music plus a vault of unreleased music plus written songs.....estimated at his death close to a billion dollars
To be fair MJ bought the ATV catalog for 47million which included some of the beetles catalog but I think it was over 20k songs in that deal…. It included songs from Elvis, Cher, Bruce Springsteen and little Richard just to name a few
@@audreymoore1743 I heard (I don’t know how true it is) MJ gave Little Richard his publishing back once he acquired it …. I just think people do a disservice when they say he bought the beetles publishing when in actuality the beetles part was a small portion of what he really bought….. like he owns 50% of Sony musics publishing…. He owns the theme music to the James Bond movies… like give him his flowers
@@c.o.s_dre888 agreed! Unfortunately he had to sell or lost (due to using them as collateral) most of those catalogs because of his legal troubles (a lot of settlements and lawyers). He didn’t own them around his death and McCartney now owns the Beetles catalog - post MJJ’s death.
@@audreymoore1743 and there conspiracy theories kick in…. After MJ put out the dangerous album w/ remember the time on it… it was time to renegotiate his deal and I think they were not really feeling the direction MJ was trying to go which having more ownership in the movie world… then all of sudden he is being accused of all these things… then they drained his bank account…. Right before he passed it was speaking out against Sony then he died… he had to much power because think about this on top of him being the biggest start ever he could do 2 tours and pay what ever he need to pay plus he owned the publishing of the biggest groups and musicians ever how is he broke ?
@@c.o.s_dre888MJ never owned 50% of Sony Music. Sony Music and MJ were in a partnership to own ATV. So, Sony owned 50% of ATV. When the partnership happened, Sony owned 75%, technically, and MJ had 25%, which is still great. But really Sony and MJ owned ATV and 50/50...
After that purchase, mike was really able to live out every childhood fantasy he ever dreamed of. He made thriller. He brought the Neverland, had all kinds of animals and everything.
ATV that owned the master's to the Beatles 251 catalog of songs approached McCartney first and gave him first Dibbs to own the Beatles music he turned them down and said the price was too high and they should just give him his music for free and the catalog went to the highest bidder after that and it wasn't just the Beatle's catalog it was 4000 plus songs in the deal with 34 Master's of other artist.
The Beatles were influenced by Little Richard. Listen to the 'Whoooo' on 'I wanna hold your hand record' Paul said that was added after seeing LR perform
Obviously their first 5 albums was influenced by the REAL pioneers of rockNroll but every album after ‘Rubber Soul’ that they was in a league of their own & they became the ones who was doing the influencing. Like if I listen to ‘Revolver’ or Abbey Road, I don’t hear no Chuck Berry or Little Richard lol
@@rda6029What makes them music legends isn't the copycat stuff they made at the start of their career, but the mind blowing music they made towards the end. Most genuine music fans know this.
That black owned label I forgot the name gave the Beatles there first break nobody wanted to sign them in the uk 🇬🇧 a America label took a chance on them
The true story is Michael Jackson asking Paul What shouls i invest in Paul answered with title writes to music publishing. Mike responded saying i'll buy your catalogue which Paul laughed at at the time.....😊
@@Lenasevilla-yb4ei no Mike and Paul were there and already openly stated this so why even bother bringing it up again or even watching the clip if i already know what happened. Some of you people are pretty slow
MJ owns the throne! Forever!!! If the world likes it or not!!! I don’t even understand why some people try to compare him to any other artist. It’s simply impossible! Michael was loved and known by every single generation from the ages of 0-100! The whole world knew and still knows him even younger generations that were born like ten years ago. Michael Jackson is one the same level as a Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ludwig von Beethoven. I’m convinced that that even in 150 years from now people will know him because he changed music forever, he broke so many records, and all that in a time when there was no social media, RU-vid and, and, and… True genius will never die!!! TS is mainly listend to by the younger audience, children, teens and maybe people with a very simple music taste in their 20s. I mean be honest who can relate to the stuff that she is singing about? People in high school? Teens when they broke up with their boyfriends? Every single one of her songs sounds like amusement park music. She writes her own songs but that doesn’t make you special or unique, because she doesn’t sing like a Whitney Housten, she can’t dance. So you basically just wear nice gowns and some would say you are a good songwriter. Good for you. But that’s far from being the full package! MJ made music for every generation to listen to! My grandparents, parents and little nieces and nephews know who MJ is but they don’t know about TS. And you can call me completely crazy but to know who MJ is, is as important as knowing who Mozart is! You can’t tell me that anyone on this planet thinks that “Shake it off” is more important and had more impact in music history than “Billie Jean”, or “Thriller”! Come on, be serious now! MJ paved the way for every artist that we have nowadays. All of them dream just to have slice of his success and fame! It doesn’t matter who is super famous nowadays, you are still nowhere near Michael Jackson. There is only King! I don’t know any other artist who literally sacrificed his childhood and everything he had for music. He was on top of the world for 45 years. Since he was 5! Untouchable!!! People need to be true to themselves and admit that when it comes to music, entertainment and fame he was the closest thing to GOD!
The Beatles were pretty big during their heyday, too, Bud. You may not be old enough to remember them, but they were a global phenomenon just like Michael Jackson. 🤷🏻♂️
I never said anything bad about the Beatles. I know they they were very big. They will always be important but yeah not my generation that’s why I I can’t say much about them. But MJ is still on another level. In my personal humble opinion!!
Michael Jackson, took advantage of Paul McCartney’s friendship and use him and bought the Beatles catalogue and Paul wanted to negotiate with Michael for a better percentage of the royalties with Paul and the rest of The Beatles, but Michael didn’t want to give him that and Michael exploited their music for his financial gain, he wanted to show he was bigger and better than The Beatles, what he did was the ultimate slap in the face. Michael didn’t care and for years he profited off, from the Beatles.
I can tell you the Beatles arent bigger than Taylor or Kanye even, its impossible when you consider how close the world is now. Beatles were basically big in UK and USA. Taylor or a Kanye is even big in China and India, Chinese didn't Beatles to any real extent. The Internet makes modern artist reach so far.
Dude, Beatles were the biggest thing in music history up to that point. No one will listen to Swift or Kanye in 50 years, but Beatles music is eternal, just like MJ.
@@AK-74K Yeah I'm sure grand pa, I can see your grand pa in the 60's saying "nobody will listen to those long hair hippies in 50 years" Pat Boone is where its at son! haha
well, im just glad Micheal gave Little Richard back his music when he brought the publishing. if the Beatles wanted their music the three remaining could have got together and bought it
But Michael was big in the 70s with the Jackson 5, and then he was big on his own in the 80s 90s and the two thousands. The Beatles were only big in the 60s and early 70s🤷🏿
IMO Michael’s catalogue SHOULD be just as, if not more, valuable… but the numbers say what the numbers say. The Beatles & Queen catalogues sold for more 🤷🏽♂️
@@joshpelton8068 I mean, they broke up in the year 1970 and their last album was recorded in 1969, so they weren't active as a band during the vast majority of the 1970's.
70’s version of Michael Jackson??? Yo Vlad, go look that one up please because you’re looking foolish right about now. The Beatles came out in 1960 🤦🏽♂️.
People have to remember that in Michael snd his estate both talked to Paul on a personal level 2-3 times before they even bought it and wanted to make sure that he did not want it, but paul said obviously that he shouldn't have to buy his own music, which he is correct, are it was up for auction
This new deal is only 50% of the catalog. He is still owns the rest. What about other catalog that was sold to Sony for 750 million a couple of years ago. That was his part of Sony/ATV. He was 50% owner of that one too. This company had publishing for artists all over the world in most countries. Some of the artists included mariah Carey babyface emenim and so many other big name artists. People look at and talk about MJ like he was a joke. But he was no doubt one of the most wealthiest and powerful black men ever. Some would say he was in debt for 500 million so he had the assets to pay it off but didn't. He wanted to prove a black could own shit too. He wrote all this shit out when he was young. How do I know I researched it.
Michael world wide superstar fame without social media Michael was ten times beatle mania. Beatlemania was a very short period of time michael was fifty years. Taylor swift the face superstars candle to either Bealtles and definitely not Michael
Paul told him his version of the story 😂 a story from a person that didn’t invest his own money the way he told Michael to. But Michael bought a totally huge catalog not just the Beatles music.
No, everything he's saying is true and it's confirmed by everyone around Michael and Paul McCartney. The only person that doesn't tell the true story is Eddie Griffin, a comedian.
I understand that it’s business and you should want to get as much money as possible, but it is fairly fucked up that you can create something that brings joy to so many people and then when it’s time to pay the person that created it, they’re not allowed to get what’s owed to them Someone can come by. Just buy it and act like if everything‘s just business you have no say like if you’re contribution doesn’t matter, even though without you, it wouldn’t exist in the first place , Michael Jackson was an amazing artist so I will always have appreciation for him but in this story, he comes across like so many others that were just assholes in the industry. They just took advantage of others I feel like no artist should be done like that even though every artist is done dirty like that I know it takes them a long time for them to actually get their rights and some never do
IF THE ROLES WAS REVERSED & PAUL BOUGHT MJ'S CATALOG & NOT SOLD IT TO HIM YALL BE CRYING "RACISM" & PAUL TRYING TO KEEP A BROTHA DOWN 🥱🥱🥱🤡🤡💥🫵🏿🫵🏼 LET'S GO BRANDONS🍭🍭🍭🍭🍭🍭🍭
