A stunning moovie I watched long ago but especially this exceptional theme is still in my mind although the whole Departures soundtrack by Japanese Morricone - Joe Hisaishi - is amazing. This interpretation is also so warm and mooving and I am glad I have found it in You Tube.
I love it so much. I love the composition (japanese are good composers), I love the orchestra, I love the conductor and I LOVE Cécile the cellist. Her sound is wonderful, and what an elegance in her playing ! And she is beautiful, smiling always. Thank you to every body for this magic moment ! Bravo !
In classical music the melody can often hesitate or accelerate from the beat independently. In piano music for example, Chopin ist a very good example. For instance, the left hand plays 4 notes in a bar regularly, whereas the Right will play. 17. of course they are not perfectly mathematically together. Such rubato is not only found in poly rhythms but in general in romantic music.
