This is the first time (and I've seen the boys live since Construction Time Again) that I have really noticed how a tour can evolve. I mean - I know they change tracks occasionally. But this time they re-arranged the lights and re-mixed some of the songs. The lights during the intro to this song was asymmetrical on the opening night in Stockholm. I remember standing in the golden circle wondering if half the lightning rig had died - if a fuse had blown. Much later I watched interviews with the crew and it turns out that this was a conscious decision based on Corbijns album artwork. The whole rig was supposed to look like a flag. With the flag pole on the left and the lights as the actual flag. This was NOT apparent during the show lol. I was sure something was wrong. They later changed it to this more symmetrical design. Oh, and the new intro to Everything Counts was **much** longer in Stockholm than it is here.
A bit harsh don't you think? They are legends and entering their fifth decade of making music and touring. I was disappointed when Alan left, but that was 25 years ago!
