I can’t believe the timing of this story. I am currently in a dark place where I don’t know who I am and what to do. Amazing how God sends you subtle messages and guidance. Thank you for opening up. I love the wisdom.

Thank you for this video. I have never had any issues until I lost my husband 10 months ago to covid. It was heartbreaking, and unexpected. He passed in 12 days after thinking he was coming home that weekend. He was a fun-loving guy who loved motorcycles and fast cars we were married for 10 years he was my second, and the love of my life. I developed a terrible fright or flight anxiety for about 4 months. I have gradually started to heal, I was worried about my mental health, and so many doctors wanted to give me medication, I said no. I started eating well meditating going for walks and exercising. I would play a game online in the evening when I started feeling lonely. I'm still not there yet, but I have been to hell and back, and I feel I'm healing from the inside out.

I'm so sorry to hear it. When I lost people I loved, I found keeping as busy as possible doing quiet activities helped me a lot. Reading, movies, journaling, nature walks and documentaries, lots of good hobbies such as planners and artwork. I lost a good friend suddenly to suicide when he was very young.

"Don't make a permanent decision based on temporary painful conditions." Thank you for sharing your story Christine! I'm so sorry you went through that as a child. I have noticed as well that nutrition, exercise and basic self care (showering, getting dressed and just putting on a little bit of makeup on each day) has made a huge difference to my mental health! I still have 'low' days occasionally, and when they come I try not to fight them.. instead I acknowledge the feeling and then really reflect on the past week, and what may be causing me to feel that way.

No little girl should have to deal with something so traumatic. I'm sorry that happened to you, but it seems like it made you the resourceful and amazing person that you are. I lost my father when I was 3 and had all kinds of strangers in my life around after that so in a way I feel like I understand what you went through.

I would have NEVER thought you would have lived the life you did as a child. This video has helped me so much. If you can climb out of depression with all you have been through, then I know I can to. Thank you so much for opening up about something so personal and showing that you understand what this dark place is like.

I love your channel so much. I'm 29 and have just started accepting myself for exactly who I am, after so many years of hating certain things about myself. So many years wasted not loving me for me. People like you whose authenticity and love for yourself shine through in how you care for yourself help others so much, including myself after having watched your channel for years, and I'm very grateful for that.❤

I’m 25 and I feel like I am JUST now starting the journey of radical self acceptance. It’ll be a while, but it’s very sad how much of our youth is completely consumed in trying to fix ourselves. And the only thing that’s broken is our outlook on ourselves. So many years of depression! I’m with ya and glad it’s getting better as we grow older 💛

Hi. I have schizophrenia and a depressive mood disorder. I'm only 11 mins into the video and I probably wont watch the rest because its too much. I just wanted to let you know I understand exactly what you are talking about with your mothers illlness because I've lived it. You were far too young to be the one to deal with it. Most adult mental illlness professionals can't even deal with us properly. I'm very sorry about her not wanting to take the meds. I have a very different outcome as meds work very well for me and ive been psychosis free since 2010. They make me physically ill but I still take them, never miss a dose

I rarely comment on videos but I really felt appreciative of the courage it took on your part to share with others such personal struggles so transparently to help others . I’ve been watching your channel for some time now . You were still living in Hawaii. I’ve watched you as you’ve immersed yourself in different interest and shared them with us and it’s been so interesting and inspiring . Hearing your journey though tonight I feel like it’s next level. Thank you for giving not only people who struggle with depression encouragement and hope but all of us an understanding of the realities of depression , other peoples struggles and how you overcame through the choices you made to create a better life . In a world that thrives off of feeding a lot of negative it’s refreshing to to hear someone who sees light in spite of circumstances . Thank you 😊

Hi Christine - I remember you briefly telling this story in another video a long time ago and it really resonated with me since my mother had the same issue. I just remember you talking about all the jobs and business you'd had and saying how you'd wished you'd realized earlier that there was lots of ways to make money. I came away wishing I had embraced the things that made me happy instead of wasting my youth being sad about a past that I couldn't change. I'm so glad you were able to turn things around. I love watching your videos because I can feel that you have created a life that you truly love and enjoy. You inspire me to try and figure out how to do the same for myself. Thanks for sharing - I look forward to part 2.

Thank you for sharing your story, Christine. You have many resiliency skills. I work in the mental health field and support others in my community. Knowing we are not alone and having that glimmer of hope, can make a big difference. I support my mom who has a diagnosis of schizophrenia and have been caring for her for over 15 years. This journey hasn’t been easy especially for my siblings but we are stronger and closer because of it. I’m happy we have reached this stage where my mom is stable and is able to accept love and support. I hope you know that by you telling your story, you can help so many find their inner strength to process, heal, grow and flourish. Thank you.

Dear Christine, thank you for sharing your story, my heart goes out to the little girl you were having to live through what you went through, I am sending her Love and Light. and to the woman you have become today, kind and radiant. 🙏🏻 I have been in a dark place all of my life so far, I so resonate with the “existing not living”…I am older than you and in spite of all I have tried to do to turn my life around, I have been really stuck in the past 20 years and it becomes harder and harder to tap into hope, let alone trust that something better is there for me…it becomes harder and harder to get up and be able to act on it, though I still am. I am very isolated live alone and my mental health condition is constantly denied from those around me (my family) who have a very bad impact on me. I am still trying not giving up but I live with this chronic fatigue, autoimmune condition, deep depression…I am doing my best to care for my body, yet again, hoping that if I access energy and a better mood somehow I will be able to find something to look forward to. I really have lost hope and that kills any dream, I dare not dream any more because of the quicksand I feel I live in. looking forward to your next video, thank you

It takes A LOT to be vulnerable enough to share your story. It’s not easy to go through all the trauma and still live today to tell your story. Thank you for sharing your truth. Keeping hope is the one thing that keeps us going. And now look at your future. I’m sorry you had to deal with this as a child, but the pain brings so much strength if we allow ourselves to find it. I have my lows, and can definitely tell when I haven’t been eating the best. So, thank you for reminding me of that too. I was sexually assaulted a few times in my life. I never knew I was depressed, until I got into drugs due to an emotional dependency. And coming clean made everything come back full force. It takes time, but all we can do is keep growing. ❤️ plants are definitely my solace, meditation as well too.

People with awesome parents still go through stuff because no parent is ever perfect. The fact that you are a good, decent, productive, success, organized human being is an outstanding deed!!! Amazing! I for sure would be in a loony bin if not gone already!

Oh my god Christine 🙌🏻 I started to follow you last year (plant+crystal = ❤️), and been loving your videos on everything. Thank you for sharing your story, there is a lot of information that resonates with me. Once you take this leap of faith: the universe aligns and gives you exactly what you need. I’ve been anxious my whole life and had (I think) 3 “dark night of the soul” moments. everytime: I grew stronger from it. The last one was this last January, I just had lost my dad to cancer and got really ill from the flue, I could not see any light in why living? And one day, I force myself to do a little meditation, cooked a little soup and I played some music. It was enough to put me out of this hole. I started to feel so grateful. The following weeks i went deeper into spirituality, discovered so many news things. Hard times are so hard, now there is so many lessons to learn from them ❤️

I‘m so sorry you had to grow up like this. This must be still hard to deal with. Incredible how you still managed to grow into this beautiful, healthy woman! Such a role model for younger people on RU-vid :)

Thank you for this video Christine. I have been watching you for many years (since Pink So Foxy) and love all of your content. But this video really resonated with me. Depression has been part of my life since childhood. And I still struggle with it, but always keep on plowing through it. I also picked up and left my hometown and move to Los Angeles. I’m now back in my hometown and married, but my husband and I are trying to plan a move elsewhere. Probably Florida. We both come from disfunctional childhoods so we both struggle with certain things. Hopefully we can both get out of this rut and into a more joyful life.

Wow. Thank you for sharing that. I had similar circumstances growing up. I’ve been dealing with anxiety and depression. I had some caring professionals that have worked with me. Glad you found your way.

Thanks for sharing all this Christine💜It's sort of surreal here too because I've been doing what seems to be my annual re-watching of your de-clutter videos (I need the inspiration! :D ), and I was just thinking how nice it was in Maui, and experiencing it through your eyes... and then I watch this video and you're talking about your whole story and then all about Maui and what it's come to mean to you! So special. I needed to hear this video too. Take care! You look amazing, and it's obvious it comes from the inside. p.s. That Gwen Stefani moment was true magic💖🌙🌟🌎

I saw others commented on the fact of you writhing a book. I just got to the part of the video of you moving to Hawaii and wow!!! How lucky you met good people! And Australia! Those two places were always on my bucket list since I was a teen too but alas, maybe having a privileged upbringing with loving parents makes some of us weak! Very happy for you! You are so very deserving! Very inspirational!!! You are so eloquent and knowledgeable. ❤️🥰👍

Christine, I just found you tonight and was binging on your vlogs. You are such a beautiful young lady, watching your channel is like a breath of fresh air. The story you have shared with us is such inspiration for so many. In my family mental illness is prevalent on both sides. Sadly many did succeed in ending their life. Christine you were so very young and had to grow up so fast. I am glad you had such a strong determination to survive and follow your dream. Be proud of yourself…I am very proud of you!
