October is depression awareness month. An estimated 17.3 million adults in the United States had at least one major depressive episode in 2017. This number represented 7.1% of all U.S. adults. To align with awareness on this illness, Dr. Lisa Monteggia will cover the ground breaking research occurring in basic science focused on depression, which she counts as one of our strongest research areas. Dr. Monteggia discussed the recent breakthroughs and future directions our research will take.
