Towering above Turin, Monviso stands alone. But its spires connect alpinists across generations.
Whilst completing a 167-day traverse of the Alps in 2001, legendary mountaineer Patrick Berhault described the Monviso ridge as 'a journey between heaven and earth.' And since she first set eyes on the mountain ten years ago, that description has been lodged in Babsi Vigl’s mind. For her, Monviso is more than a mountain. It represents a long-held ambition.
DER STEINKÖNIG follows Babsi and high-altitude mountaineer David Göttler as they retrace Berhault’s route and discover that even long-term projects don’t always go to plan.
