Great job bro. I just got in some derby blades myself and have yet to shave with them. It's good to get the scoop before hand so I'll know what to expect LOL sweet looking Merkur Futur. I got the one just like it except it as the brushed finish. I started to get the shiny one then changed my mind at the last minute. Good job on the video man keep up the good work. I have a thick Portuguese beard but sensitive skin. My aim is for a comfortable shave (not baby smooth), and my Henson AL13 with the Derby Extra Super Stainless (green packet) made in Turkey is a pleasure. Of course I am combining this with Proraso pre shave green,, Proraso shaving soap green and finishing with NIVEA's sensitive after shave if I am not visiting the queen or Proraso after shave balm Green or Red if I need that extra confidence to address the queen....oh wait,long live the king.
I think the improvements they made to manufacturing is 2017 helped the derby extra line of blades. The ones you used in the video are the old ones. You can tell the new vs the old easily. The new ones have the writing in landscape and the old are in portrait. I hope that makes sense. The picture in your thumbnail are the new. The ones you used in the video are the old. The new are thinner and sharper. When they retooled for the premium black and the USTA blades they changed the extra lime as well
The first Derby blade I tried was super smooth. A couple of years later, I got more of them in a sample pack, and they were still smooth, but something seemed "meh" about them... Did they change?
Ps bro I loved that brush so much, I just pulled the trigger on one that I found on eBay from the Italian Barber. I buy quite a bit from him, because he is a good guy. Thanks for showing that Sweet brush bro. Later.

Yep. I got 80 derbys if anyone wants them. i tried them on and off and never liked the then was at my camp for 2 weeks and had nothing but them there... shaved daily... after a week i was developing dry patches of skin almost and my neck was all irritated... something ive never had since i switched to DE shaving. bye bye derby. terrible. Voskhod and Astra SP are my favorite. I do have some feathers i am OK using, but still prefer Astra SP.
For me the only good thing about Derby's is the plastic tucks. dump the derby's & use them to store good blades. Like an idiot I keep giving them a chance with painful results, bbs on the cheeks & irritate the hell out of my neck. After doing the dum derpy manoeuvre I use Gillette Nacet's as I find them very smooth & irritation free.
