Well he has most of the strength he needs from dancing all he needs is the technique. The rest of us need to build up strength while learning technique.
I’ve always been super impressed with gymnasts, but this increases my respect. Those flips already look difficult, but you can see that landing them gracefully is another element to master.
right? that's the lesson learned. Gymnasts are beasts that manage to look like princesses on the beam/bar/floor. That's harder than anything else. Making these crazy moves seem easy and graceful. They've always had my respect. Personally barely managed to stay alive in pre-k & first grade aerobics/gymnastics classes, i'm not disciplined enough to do any of the things Derek just pulled off.
@@Just999Me i think this is one of those sports that looks easy because people smile or dance, just like figure skating or ballet, while it is probably one of the most demanding

OMG he looks so adorable when he is trying to be a gymnast his laugh is so cute and you can tell h was enjoying every second of it.I love him so much words can't describe how i feel about him.He is the most energetic person I know.He looks like a cute little kid trying to do gymnastic.Love u Derek forever and always
Nasia gives such great advice you can mentally visualize. And i was so surprised at how well Derek did! It may seem so easy to do when you’re watch, but flipping and twisting simultaneously is pretty damn difficult !
I am so glad your parents put you in dance classes Derek! Mostly because you're one of my favorite pros, and after this because you needed that outlet for your energy so your parents could keep their sanity lol.
I've ALWAYS loved watching Nastia perform. She just looks so beautiful and fluid--- she has always made the most intricate skills look so simple and effortless, which is the epitome of being great at something. The Onodi is a fave skill of mine, love seeing Nastia do it! Derek did SO great at everything! Wow!
im in xcel gold and am terrified to throw an arabian on tumble trak, and he just outta nowhere does it on floor! like dEREK!!1!1! teach me ur ways!!! 😂💕
@@nikkidafler he is definitely physicaly talented though with strength and coordination, so he isn't starting from nowhere. Whose to say he didn't take tumbling classes in his younger years? Plus, guys are fearless enough to try anything. Sounds like you are commited to your gymnastics, so think of how you have mastered new skills in the past and you'll get the arabian soon enough. I am a dancer, but always wanted to be able to do back handsprings. I could do basics like cartwheels and backbend kickovers, was never courageous enough to go for it even with back walkovers. I'm now middle aged, so I stick with dancing and leave the tumbling to youngsters.
Interesting and amazing to see Derek Hough doing gymnastics and that he's doing it with his Dancing with the Star's gymnastics dance partner Nastia Liukin.
Love you two together! This was so entertaining, I didn’t want it to end. Now I kinda want to see you do it with Shawn too! Just like, different tricks & stuff. 👌🏼💙
As a former (child/teen) gymnast and adult professional (modern/ballet) dancer - this was soooo wondrously entertaining to watch! The energy you two have was real and you brought so much joy and laughter throughout the video. And many of the tricks you did were amazing. True about dancing and visual learning. I could see even with just a few more lessons you could definitely stick really get some of the moves and perhaps incorporate into some dancing. Great form...great fun...and commitment. You bring joy and light to all the moments you present and it never feels manufactured whether on DWTS or World of Dance. Thank you for sharing and shining your light for the world...the Universe to witness - all in joy and passion. Keep shining and shaking the Universe.
I can’t even imagine doing what either of them do. I have been physically ugly my entire life, (warm, loving heart) uncoordinated and usually ill. Watching these two to me, is like watching two heavenly angels in motion. Thank you.
He should have asked for one that starts with H, like his second name. But maybe he hasn't noticed that all the names of the exercises are second names.
Loved this Derek. You are so down to earth and never mind showing your human side. You would be perfection in this if you two worked together for hours every day just like she was perfection on the dance floor after your coaching. She should have won. I thank you for so generously sharing your life with your adoring fans. You are an amazing human being. Can’t wait until another Life in Motion video. Keep them coming. It does not matter what you do on these since we love seeing anything you do. By the way, your sense of humor is so enjoyable.
So, what's next? Figure skating? Or maybe snowboarding on stunned lower legs to feel what it's like for Amy? Or playing hockey with your bro-in-law, Brooks?
Derek seems so silly, I'm happy to see you less tense. On dancing with the stars you always seemed a lil stressed. It's a true pleasure to always watch you doing what you love. Thanks for the laughs this was so fun to watch
He is such a good sport for doing this. I really applaud him, it's very down to earth seeing very talented and skilled people try things outside their comfort zones candidly. It's brave, I think moreso than someone who isn't famous/well-known for anything because we have no fame to uphold, no pedestals to potentially shorten. I hope he keeps on being precisely this: passionate, curious, brave, and moving forward.
You did really well!! I was amazed. I know Nastia showed the most basic skills and moves but I seriously doubt I could even do a flip, let alone throw a twist in there. I'd be too afraid of breaking my neck or landing on the wrong body part or something haha.
I was a gymnast when I was younger so this brought me so much joy and nostalgia! Can’t wait to see what you try next! Maybe aerial silks/pole dancing :) there are circus schools in the LA area my friends attend.
Wow! That was very exciting to watch!!! As a former gymnast, I wish I had someone like Nastia to teach me. Love her techniques. Thanks to you both for a fun and educational video! 😊
If anyone is wondering, an Onodi is named after the very first gymnast who performed that skill on an Olympics/Worlds stage, Henrietta Onodi of Hungary. Same thing if you've heard about the famous Amanar vault - that was named after Simona Amanar of Romania.
Derek, I love that your kind of crazy and very funny or vice versa. And that your also not as perfect as we all think you are.😂Thanks for making me laugh.😊😘You were great too Nastia. I hope what you showed him will help him on Ninja Warrior.Haha😁❤
My mom, whose name is Mimi, was upset that in my comment I didn't mention how beautiful a dancer you are and how wonderful your choreography is. Just know there is a little old lady in Texas that just loves you.😊💓
This was great! Derek you are such a well rounded talented person (music, dance, gymnastics and you seem to be a nice guy 😀). Love your routines on DWTS.
More with nastia!!!! I love that he’s a professional @ what he does and she is as well. So cool to see him actually try their moves and see how hard it actually is!!! Maybe a day in the life of?,??? How cool
