Get it on iTunes - bit.ly/ZVOGbn Dear Mr. Christian, Derek Minor releases a track (produced by Heat Academy) that reminds us that we can't know who someone is without knowing where they've been. @thederekminor thederekminor
I had to read your comment 2 or 3 times and I've heard the song a few times. I have always been a huge fan of word play and still I missed this one. Good catch.
Awesome song, he nipped the main problem with Christians in one song. We aren't better than someone who doesn't know God, we're just privileged enough to be shown to him by our parents or friends.
Though I'm not disputing the video (I get what they mean),here's what many people don't get: Christianity isn't (supposed to be) a religion. Christianity isn't just a relationship. It's a LIFESTYLE. You see, empty religion means you clean up your act on Sundays and Wednesdays, but act like the world every other day. A relationship can have a person who is cheating on the person with someone else. But a lifestyle? That's called Jesus 24/7. Doesn't mean you are praying all day. Doesn't mean you are quoting Bible verses all day. Doesn't mean you are taking communion every hour. Oh no. It means you treat others equally no matter what their race, gender/sexual orientation might be. That's means you don't cuss people out when they do it to you. It means you're the bigger man and walk away when someone picks a fight. It means you love your spouse (if you have one) and don't lust after anyone else. It means you don't steal. Don't kill. Don't lie. It's a lifestyle, not just a relationship, and not just another religion
yea but remember they're talking from a perspective of a sinner who has heard and is thinking about to give his life to God but really has no clue where to start.
Therefore there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus; we MUST stop judging and start loving like Jesus did, this song is a beautiful reminder
Why do we as Christians always judge those who live "wasted" or "rotten" lives? Jesus sat and ate with those people!!! I seriously get ticked off with a lotta Christians because they somehow they think they higher than nonbelievers. We haven't done anything as believers! We just simply accepted an unearned gift of eternal life and salvation from Jesus. We ain't no better than each other. STOP LOOKING DOWN ON OTHERS AND SHOW CHRIST-LIKE LOVE!! THAT'S WHY WE'RE STILL HERE! To show God's love to this world and to love - not judge
It's good to get a hurting person's perspective cause sometimes judging is easier than loving. But Jesus didn't come to judge, he came to save. I know cause the Bible says so. God Bless
A hard song to listen to as a christian but its the truth. Just an FYI, this is a song about how some non Christians view Christians, this isn't the view of the rappers trying to justify anything. I believe the life of a christian is to be lived out not be all talk. Sometimes, people just need someone to listen to them and understand them. Its our job to tell them about Christ in a LOVING way, its God job to transform their heart. Strengthen each other and don't cut down or judge. Sounds simple but its often very hard. Especially for the Christian community that is afraid of the hood.
SO. G. O. O. D. teach us that we need to hear people's problems, struggles and life stories before trying to make them believe in what we are presenting.
I can really relate to Derek Minor's personification of a female porn star, and this song is keeping me strong in fight to break the bondage of pornography in my life.
+FisherOfMen It's not easy man, but read your bible as often as you can and pray all the time. Whenever those thoughts or that urge comes on just remember what Christ did for you so that you could escape that slavery you're in. Never stop being thankful, I'm praying for you.
+FisherOfMen Bruh I have been there and done that. in fact, I still am battling it. Just give it to God and when you get the urge, talk to Him, read His word. Resist the devil and he shall flee!
I remember when I felt EXACTLY the way the last verse went. I got tired of people beating me up and I felt like all "church folk" were hypocrites. I wanted nothing to do with the church after the way I was treated. But it took God leading me to a church that loved me, were transparent and treated me like family.
After listening to his latest EP and some of his other tracks, I just don't feel like they match up to this verse. His 5 Fingers of death on Sway was decent, too, but I think the content matter in this song is really swaying my vote
Vlad Zenchenko I've thought about that too, this verse was sooo good and I feel like often with his other songs I don't feel it much but this one was flames!!
This is the most raw and real Christian Rap song I've ever heard. Nobody talks about stuff like this. It's sad that some people who grew up Christian realize that some of us who later accept Christ came from a dark past, where our souls were crushed and it takes time to heal and grow in God. It's even harder to heal when you come to God and are faced with years of more pain. But God is good. What was meant to destroy us God will use for good. He can restore all that the Locusts have eaten. Heal all our wounds. Forgive us for our mishaps. Shape us into what He wants us to be and not what the damaged soul inside of us thinks we still are.
I really like the song and was touched by it bc unfortunately there are many believers who does not take time to listen to those who are "unreached" and are "lost". But I also know many who do devote their lives to reaching those who grew up in a really tough environment. I was one of them, but because someone had reached out to me, listened and believed in me, I learned who I am in Christ and the freedom it brought in my life and I am now attending the University of my dream.
Yet another Banger!!! Calling out the lames who judge the fallen, thank you Mr. Minor, D1, and Crae! Listen to the lyrics brethren, pay attention to what goes on in the lives perishing in your hood or burb or palace...doesn't matter, where you're at or from...all of our hearts are tainted with sin...God saved us ALL...judge not, lest Ye be judged...
Anyone else out there feeling convicted after hearing this song. I bet it would be appreciated if we would "take some time to listen" when witnessing to others. So many hurt people out there need to be listened to before they will hear our message. Pray for them and for ourselves brothers and sisters.
This song, just wow!! This song is amazing! God can really work through people such as Derek Minor, Dee-1, and Lecrae. What I do when I first listen to a new song, I look up the lyrics. I read them, understand the meaning and then I go about listening to the song! All the Reach Record songs I have listened to mainly focus on how not to be a hypocritical Christian. And that's good. The thing is, I have always been a Christian, but the type of Christian that just goes to church on Sunday. Then I started listening to artists such as Lecrae and I grew so much closer to God! Thank you Lecrae! You not only helped me grow closer to God, you have helped me to grow as the person that God wants me to be. A REAL Christian. Being a true Christian means having a relationship with Jesus Christ, not going to church on Sunday and dressing up all nice. I'm not saying to NOT wear nice clothes and NOT go to church. Just when you do it, do it with an open heart, not what people tell you!
I jeff n my wife Donna like this rap it shows the way to god son Jesus n pray that my donna will be home soon its torrance court sent her to a place in la.
Although we are all sinners, our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against the spirit of the enemy. Our sin is failing to resist the devil but people become victims of sin because sometimes we don't understand fully that we've got a saviour who broke that bondage. So next time you see a "dirty sinner", don't tell them what they're doing is wrong, they should know that. Tell them that for God so loved the world that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
this song, if you a Christian, listen up, read the lyrics, of you ain't, listen up, read the lyrics, ain't about judging, most forget to love, they wana throw you.under and judge, how about you love first, help up, lead to the cross, brush up, clean up, and correct, because its true, and only god can judge, tho he may judge through his people at times.
Change is a process faith is a journey Unconditional is the test.... Christian is our identity...... you've been on quite a journey Lecrae i cant help but feel the change in your music since rehab somethings missing the message has changed the direction has changed i know that one thing that consistent is the love of god no mater how far we wonder from the flock he always pulls us back no mater how we try to resist
I think this song is what every Christian must hear. Open heart and ears is what the world needs from us. Thanks for this reminder. keep making music like this!
both Derek and Lecrae are going to winter jam 2014 so they could sing this song together and that would make me the happiest person in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love the songs that speak to the flaws of our humanity that hinders our effectiveness to be that light. I often wonder though what we can really do about it. We as Christians are humans and came from a sinful past as well. In my family God came in and introduced himself and then the family turned back to the world. I strive to walk with that awesome God anyway but I feel the world is trying to get us to cave and even though we realize our failure this doesn't present a solution, Great song.
Dear Mr. Christian, I know your on a mission. I know you say the answer to my problem is religion. I know I'm supposed to change my way and stop sinning, but I'd appreciate if you take some time to listen.
Daily...Forgive us. We all fall short of his glory, we will die a sinner TRUST GOD NOT MAN. I have been there and back again for a second chance to breathe the breath of life.
Love the song but I really would like to hear Mr. Christians response. I am a big fan of God's word being preached through song. I know god spent his time among the sinners in his earthly ministry and that he said that we shouldn't judge people, however we as Christians can judge an action to be either good or evil. I think a whole lot of the mainstream "Christians" think that avoiding those who live in the world of a sinner is a good practice. You cannot be infected by evil if you truly love god and we should all hope to have our feet be those beautiful feet which are dirty from walking the path of our savior. Dirt doesn't always mean sinful but it is also the trademark of a hardworking person. If we lose our selves in the work of the lord our feet may be dirty but they will be beautiful.
In this song they asked you to listen. It seems like you got offended when you listened. I heard their pain in what they went through. You heard excuses. God help you. Jesus didn't need explanations because he already knew they why's. We do not know people backgrounds and we must show compassion which is understanding. Acknowledging what happened can help people heal. How are you going to say "I don't need to hear your excuse just repent and change" that mentality is exactly the reason this song is written.
Love this song its so relevant to the day and time we are in. We must wake up christians to the charge to Listen to people. Also we must be moved to action as well to help people in need be there for them in their struggle. Jesus ate with sinners and fellowshiped with them, he healed people physically and spiritually, let us be the hands and feet of Jesus. Let us not judge people in a condemning sense but lets give the truth with love. Truth without love is harshness.
From the other person's perspective, this is how MOST "Christians" sound like. MOST (not all) just blab about Christ, but don't DO anything to help. Like, for example, one can preach about love all they want; speaking about how God loves us and how He died for us. But, thing is, they didn't SHOW that love. So, this person looks at this Christian and thinks, "What a hypocrite! They say religion and God is the answer, but just look at how they act. They' be judging us by rubbing our sins in our faces!" That's the message I get out of it. Who was it? Who was it that said (and I quote): "Show everyone love; and if you absolutely need to, use words."? Not saying every Christian talks the talk but doesn't walk the walk, I'm just saying that that's probably what they were aiming at. Striving to compel us into thinking and acting and yearning to be like Jesus. 'Cause, honestly, I feel like some people think that if they pick up a Bible, learn a few verses, and do the right thing, that they automatically know God. In simplicity, read Matthew 7:21-23. -HBofAS
"James 5:20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins."
There's a good point here, Jesus loves sinners and didn't come to judge - john 3:16,17. There is a lot of junk around even in churches, sad to admit, but what matters more is Jesus and what He did for us, to have life in Him. As long as there are people, there won't be perfection regardless of whose organization your apart of or not. That is, until Scripture is fulfilled. Peace, seek Jesus not religion.
well that's all they're doing in this song as judging others and the word religion just means to practice something I religiously brush my teeth and follow Christ the disciples use the word religion and the book of James that are not offended by it neither should we y'all some lames just following each other and not the Bible
I just wish my friends would listen to me when I try to show them something like this! Ugh, so frustrating when they don't even let me show 'em that the REAL Christians really do care... And I wanna listen to them, too, but they're always afraid I'll start gettin' "religious" on 'em. Bah! God, help me! I wanna know where these people are at, and not judge but instead love! And I want them to where I'm at, too!
Dear Mr. sinner I can not help but see, That the action that you took was not caused by me. I'm sorry that you think That I came out here to Judge, but I really want to say that there's hope in God's Love. If I can help all you have to do is ask, because God said I should help you to try and get passed. All the temptations all the pain and the sorrow, Is going to help you get so much stronger tomorrow. When you give up all the things that cause you so much pain, you will finally know the Lord and be loved once again.
I am not. But I am forgiven because I made the choice to follow Christ. As Mr. Sinner is represented in this song it sounds as though he is making excuses for the way he lives by using his circumstances as an excuses. Even Peter the most beloved of Christ's apostles took responsibility for his sinful nature and that is the difference. He took responsibility for his actions. The minute you start placing blame for your sins on others is the time when you start leaning towards the path of the adversary. The truest form of repentance is when you: 1 recognize YOU have sinned, 2 You feel sorry for having committed that sin, 3 You promise God that you will never do it again and 4 You give up that sin to Christ. Then grace kicks in but grace only works when the person receiving it changes their heart and walks in Christ's ways. When you stumble and fall you get back up and you repent and move forward. Don't hold on to the past move forward in Christ. We as Christians do not save but we can facilitate bringing other sinners to Christ who can save but they have to take responsibility for their own sinful actions.
Our mission as Christians is to help those who don't recognize their sin and help them to understand they can be forgiven. Forgiveness can only come through repentance. So we do have resposibilty to go and do not sit and stew. Like Lecrae said in "Send Me" "I'll go" to teach (not preach) those who like me sin and I will show them the way to live forever through Christ.
For all those who dont understand the testamonies are speaking the ones rapping "mr Minor" "Mr Dee1" Mr Lecrae" in case your offended that theyre talking bout you... lol If you are offended then put your foolish pride aside and look at yourself in the mirror cuz every Christian could listen alot more than preaching damnation on someone they have no clue about. God didnt send you to analyze he sent you to evangalize!
Cody Burke The Bible does say for us to 'judge' each other, but in love and without bias; most people are incapable of judging each other correctly. Matthew 7:1-5 "Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye."
ProudofJesus correct me if im wrong but i view judging as pointing out someone w/o owning up to ur own, and expecting that person to change to ur way of thinking, the correct way is to share the Truth in Love & be willing to point that toward the Solution which is Christ
The Kingdom of God is Advancing. Keep Spitting the truth. Open the eyes and heart to the streets, corners, highways and internet. It time to take it by force with God's word! 116.....YOU KNOW!............................KAA
i struggle too but i'm realizing we'll never fully understand grace becuz it's beyond our comprehension and it's there regardless. that's what makes God's love so amazing i think. i also struggle with sharing my faith and not feeling like God is with me. We can't base our faith on finicky feelings & resting in his consistency is something we have to learn. it's ok to feel this way. remember- lean not on your own understanding. Holiness is something we must strive for daily through the spirit.
