I heard him say that when he was a teenager he played running back on a bad football team. So he was playing a lot but the team was always losing. I feel like that comes out in this show. He doesn't stop going forward.
Great material wasted on your typical stuffy Toronto audience. I couldn't help but notice that the things they laughed at the most were when he was poking fun at people who weren't like them (Americans, calling leprechauns dwarves, putting himself down, etc.). They sounded like assholes. He would absolutely clean up out here on the East coast (especially if he did the bit about his Newfie girlfriend). Funny as hell. Too bad about the crowd this time!
I am a Maritimer and heard his bit today on his Newfie girlfriend. I was in my vehicle in an Irving parking lot, watching RU-vid on my phone with tears in my eyes and my guts hurt. Today was my first introduction to Derek Seguin. He is downright fucking hilarious.
He was hilarious! However, half of that crowd needed to be checked for pulses. Stone-faced, pathetic, upper crust a-holes who don't know how to laugh or even look alive, don't deserve to see a comedian half as funny as Derek. They should be ashamed, and the director who cut to audience shots of extras from. The Walking Dead" should never get a job directing anything other than a documentary about dead penguins, or narcoleptic snails.
Derek - hilarious, for sure. Audience - a lot reacted like repressed snobby prudes, for sure. But, I'm happy director showed those audience who sat there without a smile or even a smirk. We wouldn't have known otherwise, had they not been shown. Director showed some laughing out loud and some stone-faced. It was the reality. So, it gives us watching this video a good idea of how the audience responded to Derek's hilarity! Unfortunately, not everyone gets him.
