I heard this yesterday when I was in the car with a friend, and I was like “Damn, I remember I was obsessed with this a couple years ago, and glad I heard it again”. Now I’ll relive this bliss today and in my future
When listening to this, I cant help thinking of the personal drama and intense love that 2 men (George Harrison and Eric Clapton) had for the same woman.... giving us the timeless "Layla" and "Something".
@@toggs6545 I think it had something to do with the idea that Eric and his manager thought that women had no rights and therefore could not stop him from doing it.
Rita Coolidge was Jim Gordon's 'girl friend' while she was writing this piece. Jim Gordan 'took it' and took it to Tom Dowd and begged him to put it in. There is the first release that does not have the piano. This is according to Bobby Whitlock. Keyboards, vocals, and song crafting for the group. And also the original 'friend' in Delaney and Bonnie. Bobby has been doing RU-vid videos for over a year or so. He gives a personalized history of the 60s and early 70s music scene...
@@martyjansing2675 I think that’s generally correct but that the people behind the whole Layla song blew off Rita Coolidge when she asked for writing credit. She could have did the same thing that a guy did with Stairway To Heaven; it took 10 years to resolve the litigation and it wasn’t an easily win for Led Zeppelin. The criminal here is Jim Gordon for sniping the music from Rita Coolidge and I heard he’s still in jail for murdering his mother. Delaney and Bonnie wrote and still performs Superstar that was made a million hit by The Carpenters.
