JEEEEEZ you really stuck your neck out there, there is a bloke that posts here that tells people to let them do it their own way..........even though they know best.
Hi Dan + Laura, ok the old roof is of the barn and you haven't fallen off it too. That 's good. But you must have a very attentive guardian angel on your shoulder Dan because you have been playing with your life ! In order for us to see the full renovation of the barn and the blossom of the homestead, do take safetymeasures next time your going into Laurel and Hardy -mode. I like to see this come to full fruition. God bless the both of you. J.
Damn, those walls are *THICK*! Makes new builds look like doll's houses..! Nice one guys - I think this will be quite a psychologically big mile stone (as well as physically of course) when it's done. 👍☺️
Hi you two, hope you're doing ok! What great progress you're making on the homestead, looks really amazing! Great roof work from Daredevil Dan. But...in the case of better be safe than sorry, that chimney, as I have seen too many, looks to be asbestos so please don't brake or smash it or put the grinder to it as that is to risky health-wise. Just wrap it up in plastic and dispose it properly at the tip. Have a great!!! Cheers Bert 🙏🏻❤
I held my breath for the entire time that you were on the roof Dan. You're both so much fun to watch. Stay strong. You're chipping away at what has to be done. Great job😊
Good to see you both gaining confidence in everything that you take on plus the enjoyment on your faces, Keep it up as you are moving forward at a good pace. Hope you keep well and positive
Very nice work, Laurel and Dan , It is going to look 👀 great, well done, a couple Velux windows would look 👀 very cool, 😎, might be expensive, stay safe, keep up the great work, France
Your cottage is HUGE 😃. Would you say it gives you 5 times the amount of living space of your van? You know how a lot of might think to chip off all the old concrete render off your indoor walls? With the roof panels off, i could more plainly see how incomplete it wa applied. I thought that if it'd save you some labor, maybe ask St. Nick to show you how to render the uneven surfaces of the old so that it has an more even, level finish and leave the un-rendered bits as features in the wall? If that appeals to you, of course, and want to lessen your labor. The effect might look like the exposed stonework in Make.Do.Grow.'s remodeled downstairs rooms. So excited for you to be this far along. I don't mind hanging on the edge of my seat to see what you shate next week! 😉
Wow, the workmanship that went into building the Barn all those years ago is amazing, I had no idea the walls would be that thick and it and all its history has now been passed to you two and you are doing a brilliant job, can't wait to see what next week has in store for us 👍
It's amazing to see just how thick those walls are. You can also get an idea of how the critters were living above the walls and find some way of preventing it. Great progress.❤
Great work as always Laura & Dan. I can't wait to see the new roof. Personally I would have worn gloves when handling the zinc sheets in case I cut my hands. Hopefully neither of you received any small cuts or scrapes.
You have all that tin off the roof you should use it to make a veranda / porch / covered area outside the front door. This could make your living area under the roof bigger and a good place to get out of the sun ☀️ and keep the rain ☔ away from your front door. Good job you guys 🎉🎉💪👍
It's so good to see you both well and happy and Dan still sneaking around. Haha the chimney kept standing up because Laura kept looking at it. Hope your new roof goes on just as easily. That's a big brave step for you both well done. That barn was built like a bomb shelter. Keep on Keeping On.
It was NOT just removing a roof, it was removing the roof of your home! A harrowing process for everyone! That old tin looks like it's still in pretty good shape it has a TON of uses! Maybe even half a cover over your well! (YES! That still bothers me for some reason!) You do need to send me an address so I can send you guys some leather gloves! I know they dampen the feel but working with that metal you need some. One slip and there goes a ton of hospital bills! It took 2 trips for me before I learned! If it tried to rain before you are done tape over the electrical and let it rain. No carpet, no furniture, no worries! I mean you DID run a pressure washer in there. LOL...easy for me to say 3000 miles away right?
Well done Dan !!! This is certainly huge progress … Amazing to see you remove the entire roof off in such an organized and well thought out plan of action👏👍 I agree with your comments Laura with respects to a skylight … it would be such a good feature ! Another great week of productivity !! Durban SA 🇿🇦
Congratulations Laura and Dan. Another big step towards getting your barn converted into a home. And it is quite a large step at that. Good to see that you're gaining confidence as you work through your project. And of course, Nick & Angela are not too far away from you when you need any advice. You've come quite a distance already from being average Geordies to becoming a Portuguese landowner. Keep it up.
The peaceful attitude towards all the things you do together gives me a big pleasure. Progress is so good ,you both have a lovely combination of knowledge and strength. Take care ❤love you both.
Hello my brother and sister in Christ! I pray you both are well. I really loved all the aerial and rooftop shots. We get to see God's creation and His hand upon your land. It is so green and lovely! You can see the hard work of your blessed hands. I agree. It has such a different feel and look. The old roof came off and it was aired out. The old was removed and renewed by you two. It is similar to surrendering give our lives to Christ. That old roof (old lifestyle) is put a way and new roof (new lifestyle) is put in its place. It truly felt like "your air", if that makes sense, filled your lovely home once the roof was removed. I was so nervous when Dan was up on the roof. It wasn't because he was doing anything wrong, but i have a paralyzing fear of heights (and snakes). 👀It is always pure joy seeing you both and sharing some time with you. Thank you for the amazing video and the love you share. God Bless You Mightily and love in Christ! ~John Proverbs 24:3-4 NKJV "Through wisdom a house is built, And by understanding it is established; By knowledge the rooms are filled; With all precious and pleasant riches."
Out with the old and in comes the new, can't wait to see that beautiful new roof. Also like said earlier, you can use the old roofing for many fun projects that will come in the future. Great work so far guys 👍👊
Well done you two. You are not just building your home, but building memories to look back on in years to come. I love your determination, and you are so brave to take on such a huge task. Keep smiling. Have a good week. 💐
You guys look like naturals when you take on these jobs. I was going to say diy jobs, but I’m not sure I’d do it myself. Even more so with the snakes in the roof. Rather you than me Dan. Haha Keep up the hard work. I’m looking forward to the next video now to see the new roof going on. Well done guys. You’re a pair of proper grafters!
Congratulations on your great progress, you wonderful people!! It was awesome watching you take the roof off, piece by piece; that's the way life transformation happens I guess, one old piece of metal at a time. haha. Laura, your narration is truly exceptional: what you choose to say and how you express what's happening, and the sound of your voice - I could listen all day, you really have a special way of weaving a kind of magic every episode, that takes us on a special journey of life that feels so relatable, even thousands of miles across the ocean. Sending all the love and best wishes every step of your path! We're here for the long haul no matter what; we're rooting for you around the world. :) Lee
Hi again L&D An exciting big day and a big project. You're really doing it yes you are!! Your skills are growing all the time and you're making wonderful progress. Can hardly wait til next time when the new roof goes on. Good job you two! You make a great team. Keep your eyes on the prize of your finished home. Yes it's not easy but just think how amazing it will be when you finish it and move in! Well worth every moment... Hang in there and stay safe. Thx as always for sharing. Catcha next time. God bless
Great job guys! About two months ago, I saw Nick helping you install the roof, and it looked amazing. Keep up the good work guys. Love and be safe!😘🤗🌼ve
Dan and Laura you have come a far way with your work on the barn also over your fears of doing things. You both have such a positive attitude towards doing things and I know things have been tough but you have overcome them. It will be beautiful with a few skylight windows. At least it was not very hot there so you could pull the roof down and not cook you 'like a cat on a tin hot roof' ha ha. See you next week. Take care.
Aww it's great to see you2 starting to get excited with the house renovation , mind my blooming heart was in my mouth at times when dan was dismantling the roof 😮 . Great job done guys xxx👷♀️👷♂️.❤❤
Your videos are so good and I just loved to see your excitement today and I really felt that now they do believe that this will be their future home, if you know what I mean. You were both so happy, wonderful. All the best to you both.
Laura and Dan. I look forward to the day you build out the barn to become a ten room house for all the grand family you'll have and some of your spectators to visit... 😉
Dan / Laura why didn’t you add a cement ring beam increasing the height of the build for a mezzanine floor. You are more than capable carrying out the work? Future proof, hopefully you don’t mind my comment. Keep up the great videos.
That’s the best “haircut” that home has had in a long time! Great work Laura and Dan also very good aerial shots too. Really looking forward to next week’s vlog. “Keep the faith” and continue to look after each other.
Awe bless you, Dan & Laura, it's gonna look amazing with the new roof, you have both done a great job so far, look forward to the next video, take care both of you ❤❤❤❤
bit late now but for future, start from the side on the ladder then ladder from within. Knowing and workin in the roofing industry for a short period. GL out there. Making roof planks for future ok :)
Great job but you need to trim them trees up around the house so before you start putting a roof on it that way you got to clear all the way around it. Great video
