@Ashwin A No that is not the reason why SEBI imposed new margin rule. The only reason sebi saying is to reduce excessive speculation. In fact, everyone is worried if volume goes down. even SEBI. but as of now, there is no drastic effect on liquidity anyways

@Ashwin A I'm sorry I cant agree that. Trading in the derivative market itself is speculation. By excessive speculation, what I believe is taking excess leverage and trading without knowledge. Its only going to affect normal retailers. They are going to turn to option buying and not to cash market

with due respect to PRS and all viewers, please DONT come to Derivatives if you don't have underlying share. To start with, it looks easy to make money and simple but eventually, only options WRITERS make money and rarely, the buyers - like last few weeks extraordinary bull run. Profit in derivative = total of TIME VALUE plus DIRECTIONAL VALUE. If direction or the call u make goes wrong then u need to face loss but TIME VALUE can minimise the loss to some extent. IF your direction is a stock going up then sell CE along with that and we see three scenarios below: if price comes down then CE will minimise loss to a certain level. your underlying anyway has a risk of price movement. if price goes up then sell both stock and CE (it may have some loss) but your profits are secured. Here, CE acts as insurance if price stays the same then underlying does not change much but CE money is yours.

Sir, In the US option lot size is fixed to 100 shares. In India each stock has a different lot size, why is this so? In India options are so expensive because of the huge lot sizes deterring a lot of small players. If a person is interested in more shares he can increase the number of contracts. Looking forward to your comments.

Butter from butter milk from curd from milk. Milk derived from cow, hence cow is underlying and milk is derivative. cow eats grass so grass is underlying and cow is derivative. grass comes earth so grass is earth's derivative. earth is part of solar system.... so the butter that we spread is technically a derivative of the solar system ?

Mobile seller gets money in dollar so he has to convert it to rupees and student gets money in rupees need to get converted to dollar. Currency exchange has 2 risks one is commision and other risk daily fluctuations in dollar to rupee which means today 1 dollar equals 75 rupees and tomorrow 1 dollar may be 74 rupees. So to eliminate these risks two persons make agreement saying for next 2 yrs I pay 1000 dollars per month as I get money in dollars and you give Rs 75000 per month. So both of them avoid commission cost and eliminated risk due to day to day change in dollar rupee value which is not in their hand. Hope you got it now

Your efforts are appreciable. But there are some mistakes to be rectified. When $ becomes Rs.100 per $ from Rs.75 per $. Rupee is said to be depreciated but you spelled it as Appreciated and vice versa for Rs.50. Thank you for the knowledge sharing
