She needs to go to an ED (what used to be called the ER) or Urgent care. Not only does she need a topical antibiotic, she will need oral antibiotics. A doctor might even determine she needs IV antibiotics to stave off a necrotizing fasciitis or some other rapid growing infection. I cannot imagine how painful this foreign object was that she could ignore this so long.
No offends, but if I had to run to a Dr every time I had something like this, or even discovered that I had previously obtained something like this, I'd be off the job about three times a week. Or on my own time, if discovered after the fact, be it an evening or a weekend, let alone a get away or a vacation. Do many of you have boring jobs?
Not really if it was Necrotizing fasciitis it would be hella inflamed and spread in hours. They need to go to their primary care physician NOT an er. Urgent care is fine to. For oral antibiotics. Clean with antibacterial soap and some antibiotic cream.
My dad had a piece of wood stuck in his arm from work for 4-5 days and never said anything (you know how men can be) until he started throwing up, fever and diarrhea. It almost went septic. 😳
I love the reaction videos. She must’ve fell on some bark maybe? Red cedar splinters can cause bad allergic reactions. It’s something in that particular type of wood, so I was told. Correct me if I’m wrong please.
I had something like this. I tore down a shed in my back yard. It was there when we bought the place and the previous owner kept goats in it. I got a bit of plywood up through the bottom of my shoe and into my heel. I tried to get it out. My wife tried to get it out. My daughter, who was a vet tech, also tried; none of us succeeded. I could feel that it was large, so I knew it had to come out. I went to the ER, told them what happened. Triage wrote it up as a splinter. The PA came in with a needle and tweezers. It took only moment to realize she needed bigger tools, so she left and returned with forceps and a scalpel. After about 30 or 35 minutes of digging, she got it out. It was NOT as large as the chunk of debris in this video. Then she sat back on her heels and admired her work. Suddenly, she thought about it and asked me, "I forgot to numb the area first, did that hurt?" Yes. Yes it did.
@@saritataylor4235 It's OK. I have a high tolerance for pain and was able to endure the cutting. It healed enough to go back to work in only a few days and after a few weeks you could barely tell it had happened. No worries.
It was told to me years ago, that, if you get a splinter from a pallet, especially the exchange pallets, get to ER straight away!!! You do not know where that pallet has been, nor, what has it had spilled onto it. As was shown to me years ago, even bags leach product if not transported or stored correctly!
Nope….absolutely not, that had been any one of my four sons……we would have been at the doctors office or the ER. My oldest took a fall while roller blading as a teen. We thought everything healed up. But after a few weeks (maybe a month) a bump/ lump appeared below his elbow. Took him to the dr, he had a small rock embedded in his arm. The dr removed it, put him on an antibiotic and warned that if it didn’t heal completely there would be a trip to the hospital for debridement. Thankfully it healed nicely.
Nope after having sepsis in my blood from an infected tooth I don't mess around with nothing if that look like that I'd be in the damn emergency room because I almost died from sepsis it was also very painful the Dr was amazed that I was still alive I was in bad bad shape by time I decided to go to the ER so if you have something like that and it gets infected take yourself to the doctor.
I still remember this time I ran thru a patch of thorns in my yard and got one stuck in my foot. I couldn't take it out even with tweezers and I thought it was gonna just be apart of my body forever until I noticed a few days later it pushed itself out and I was able to take it out finally. It was so bizarre to me
I had something similar a reed my Dad pulled it out with pliers and provide, 10 years later a sliver of wood like a toothpick came through where the scar was.
Oh my gosh that reminds me of the time that my brother has a bamboo stick stuck in his leg and had to go to the doctor but still was picking out bamboo for months
Usually i have always have that tiny piece of wood mostly bamboo when i was a child. I use to remove it using needle . Then wash it and rinse with boiled leaf of guava.
Riddle me this... obviously its been in there for days or maybe a week. You could clearly see the splinter sticking out. Why isnt anybody asking why did you leave it on so long??? Its not like it was a deep splinter that wasnt able to be extracted.
When I was a tree I slid down a tree I climbed and got a similar splinter. Did not go see a doctor or hospital over it (none of us seeped it bas enough to need that). It took MONTHS for my body to work it out enough to be able to grab with tweezers. Looking back, I am very lucky not have got a nasty infection… then again I DO have immunity issues with a particular bug that this could have contributed to.
I spent a weeknin hospital once with infection from wire stuck in foot at work. Luckily the hot salty rags n ivys worked or they were gonna cut foot open n scrape bone
Wow that has been there for a min. Not to mention as long as you clean the tweezer and the wound u dont need gloves for 2 reasons 1 ni such thing as sterile environment that is not in an OR and even in an O.R. Ur lucky not to get infection .2 its a damn splinter and 3. It a damn splinter
I used to do sheet metal work and one time got a half inch by about 3 inch piece of metal jammed into my calf somehow . Crazy part is I didn't really feel it but that stuff is super sharp and no bleeding but a few days after it moved and cut one of the arteries in my leg . Crazy stuff happens but this just looks like someone didn't want to fix the boo-boo
If I worked for CPS I'd watched TikTok videos all day on Monday to make my "hit list" for the rest of the week. TF kind of parent lets their child's knee get this jacked up before they think "WoW, that knee might need medical attention. "Nah, I'll just pull that tree out with my handy dandy tweezers I just used on the cat's abscess."🙄
My younger brother has something similar on the side of his hand next to his little finger I have begged him to go and have something done with it and he keeps claiming there’s more than calcium buildup. I think it’s a giant splinter that the skin has grown around because I pulled a splinter out of that thing years ago. I told him then I didn’t think I got all of it.
Right? LOL I thought a splinter was supposed to come out on its own. As in the body rejecting it because it's a foreign object? I heard that in the movie War Of The World's. I probably shouldn't take that type of info to heart when it comes to movies, lol
Rinse it with some alcohol.or whiskey, she'll be fine. I've dug worse oit with a pocket knife out in the hills and wrapped after irrigating with Jack danials and zero infection
All other things aside, I may not be qualified in any way, but I've had wood and glass separately get pulled from my feet after like 6 years of just leaving it, and the splinter dr was just STABBING around in there; the glass one was like this right here, that's was some good technique IMO 👌 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
