I hate how people shame the little white hairs and think you have to shave them. We're mammals- one of our singular identifiable traits is that we grow HAIR! HAIR IS NORMAL, PEOPLE!
@@Hobistrawberryberryok but if we literally can't even see the hairs without this spray then suffice it to say we don't look like grizzly addams anyway
I am surprised how many dermatologists suggest this. My skin breaks out so bad when I do it. They should mention that this might not work for everyone. I got laser epilation several years ago and that was the best decision ever.
What breaks you out the spray or the dermaplane? Totally don't understand why anyone needs the spray. Just go across the entire face after cleaning, then rinse and moisturize
I’ve had that problem as well, but I think it was because my skin barrier was broken. Because the hair was removed, that physical barrier that caught some (not all) bacteria that caused acne was gone, my skin was now more exposed. I’ve found that using a lubricant such as facial oil, moisturizer, hydrating spray helps the razor glide more and not cause as much friction (which was another problem and agitated my skin and made be break out more). Basically my skin barrier was broken so I did stuff to reduce the friction from the razor a
youre not supposed to do it dry... and your eyebrow razor isnt sterile hence injuring the skin and breaking out. its not that difficult to look up how to properly do it or go to a specialist you just need a brain
@@lvncee It's not harmless. Among other things, it increases your risk of UV radiation damage. After doing this, it's recommended you not go outside in direct sunlight for 3+ days- which is the amount of time it takes for your hair to grow back. If you can't go out in sunlight after doing it because of the increased risk of cancer, you probably shouldn't do it. Just use a little charcoal scrub to get the dead skin off and live with your peach fuzz. It's healthy and beautiful. Humans are not supposed to look like plastic.
You cannot convince me that this woman is an actual dermatologist and if she is, she’s deliberately spreading misinformation and putting her patients in danger.
Agreed ! The dermatologists who actually suggest this are simply exposing themselves as the shills they are. If you cannot even see the hairs without some gimmicky product, leave your skin alone! They're wh0ring themselves to make money through young people's insecurities. Shame on them.
@@w0nyst0e well you dont need it. Its for protection. Companies make up shit for people to be insecure about so they can sell their dumb product to fix it.
Please stop shaming women into shaving their faces. The little hairs serve a purpose and it absolutely becomes whiskers over time. Stop saying it doesn't. IT DOES!!
Medical Aesthetician chiming in: it doesn't. Shaving or removing hair from the surface of the skin does nothing to change the consistency of the hair itself because you're not damaging the hair follicle. The hair beneath the stratus corneum is still fully in tact and not altered, in any way, by the shave.
You have failed biology. Common sense would tell you that the hair you shave ABOVE the skin is only affected. Not the hair UNDER the skin. It's not waxing, it's not lasering.
Hello, derm nurse here 👩⚕️🙋♀️ Since I'm working in this profession I feel qualified to throw in one's two cents worth. Never have I ever hear my boss say to a patient they should shave. More like the opposite. Every time a patient felt ashamed because they came in unshaved she told them it was fine and in fact she preferred it that way. You grow hair for a reason. It protects your skin and as long you don't have to shave because of a medical condition you don't need to shave. If your only doing it because of aesthetical purposes the disadvantages weight out the advantages. It puts your skin at risk because it can get irritated, infected, hairs grow in and a part of the protection is missing. A healthy skin needs its hairs. Nonetheless if you want to shave it's your decision :) I don't want to take in from it nor does my boss. We just want you to know it's natural and fine and you don't need to fear the hair or be ashamed of it❤ If your derm legit suggests you shave without a medical reason, you should drop them 🚮😂 Sorry for the long rant and my bad English ❤
Your English was amazing! And thanks for saying this, I don't shave at all as a nonbinary person (sex is female). I know someone who only shaves because they are sensitive to the texture of their body hair, which is understandable
It's not that we hate the appearance of peach fuzz, it's just that it benefits our personal goals to remove it. Some people just do this because it helps skincare absorb better + makes makeup look less cakey. It also helps reduce acne and dark marks if done correctly.
Oh great, another 'diguised' ad with and 'expert' and fcking bots trying to convince me to buy this completely necessary product .🙄🙄🙄 Are you guy really falling for this?
YASSSS QUEEN‼️ I will fall for it and end up with either skin eating bacteria, or MRSA. WHY NOT BOTH⁉️ Like calling that Walgreens pharmacy, only to be left on ring or hung up on‼️ My gah…. I fecken hate Walgreens 😡
I couldn't help but chuckle reading this because I had that happen to me. They got into "science" and everything and basically told a minor they like their women baby smooth lmao
FYI PEOPLE: Ever wonder WHY Marilyn Monroe's face always looked so soft, and radiantly luminiscent no matter what in all her pics??? Its because SHE HAD PEACH FUZZ, and the light golden hairs DIFFUSE LIGHT and hard edges, giving her that airbrushed look. This cannot be achieved with makeup, either... so dermaplaning is ONLY good if you slather a lot of makeup on, anyways (gives you a smooth base, if thats your thing). But it also causes breakouts and other issues after the fact, for a lot of people, too... so good luck if you wanna try it.
@tabora_ photoshop didn't exist until the late 1980s. Marilyn Monroe was alive from the 1920s - 1960s. However, photographers and film studios used diffused light that gives a soft look and softens shadows on the model, actress or film crew! It was very common on female actress' in black and white films too - you can watch the film Casablanca for example. EDIT: Hi all I know now the comment didn't meant the photoshop program. If you scroll a bit in the comments, I was made aware by other comments a few days ago. Idk how to turn off notifications for this comment. Lmao. ✨️🤣 thank you all! ❤️
@FitchersLane I don't know too much on that part besides blending photo negatives (combining photos & exposure). I realize I want to visit a museum to explore more on photo limitations/ manipulation in the 20th century!
I agree! The dermatologists who actually suggest this are simply exposing themselves as the shills they are. If you cannot even see the hairs without some gimmicky product, leave your skin alone! They're wh0ring themselves to make money through young people's insecurities. Shame on them.
@@gisellethejpeg9898 Then a dermatologist would certainly warn people to whom this may cause bad reactions, right? They would do it because it's a legit problem and because it may not apply to everyone and they care about the people watching, like a responsible person sharing information on the internet, right???
god i swear it’s people like you who infantilize women, it’s the same as shaving your legs. You don’t have to if you don’t want to but stop judging people my god
Peach fuzz is normal and no one should feel the need to shave it off. I love mine and I've never even thought of shaving it. What for? It's judt gonna grow back up again anyways 🤷🏻♀️
There are skincare benefits to it. I do it because even though my facial and body hair is white blonde, my husband likes to point out when my mustache glistens in the sun. No mustache, no idiotic comments. It’s a win win for me.
I shave about once a month because I am 1) Mexican and hairy, 2) makeup doesn't lay well on dark, coarse mustache hair, 3) it's a form of physical exfoliation. The factors that decide on WHEN I shave are dependent on my skin barrier health, if I'm breaking out, and how long I can physically handle being hairy. I don't mind having a mustache and I embrace my body hair, but it's a sensory thing when it comes to my face.
Dude. Not everyone gets the same body hair. For me, the oil in the hair exacerbates skin problems. My upper lip hair is incredibly fine and light, which is great. But the hair doesn't stop growing and it will eventually curl over my upper lip to be annoying and obscure the general shape. I never use razors for hair removal but I love periodically waxing off some of my facial hair.
i had considered shaving my peach fuzz once when i heard about the benefits until i saw someone mention this exact thing. my skin is always oily no matter how i treat it, so i was so glad i saw that information before potentially causing myself some excruciating problems.
Baby hair seems like just another normal thing that companies tell you is a problem (and an insecurity) so that you'll buy their products that fix the "problem." Just like cellulite and stretch marks.
I heard once that we have around the same amount of hair follicles on our face as primates but our hair is much more thinner and grows a lot more shorter. It’s funny to see people freak out,l for something so normal.
Right!! When I was a kid I was on the bus and the sun was bright that day and shining through the bus and it was hitting my face and some kid yelled and shouted that I had peach fuzz😂😂😂 my guy classmate told the other kid it was normal and stop being a duche basically, it was super sweet of him because I was super shy back then and kept to myself. But boys I swear😂😂😂
I think it goes without saying that shaving and dermaplaning is a personal choice. As someone with mild hirsutism from pcos, it works wonders in making my skin feel better and letting my products sit better on my skin. It can also be a great way to exfoliate for people whose skin can't tolerate chemical exfoliants too well. It's all about personal choice and preference! Never feel pressured to get rid of your facial hair and similarly, don't feel like wanting to get rid of it is wrong either.
You cannot convince me that shaving doesn't make hair grow back faster, thicker, and darker! IDGAF who says its a wives tail, on my body its fact, and this would turn me to wolf man!
It doesn't. You THINK it does, because that's how it looks. What your doing is cutting the tip of the hair off, which is the thinnest part. Then, when the hair grows out, you're seeing the blunt part of the middle of the hair where you cut. If you let it grow back and fall out, it would eventually go back to how it was before it shaved, but no one has that patience, hence why people wax instead, because that removes the entire hair, not just the thin pary
That’s simply factually untrue and has been proven wrong several times, but you don’t need an excuse to not shave your face?? Just don’t do it if you don’t want to. Not everything you do needs a made up reason
@@chezsrandombs ok I get that, that it just looks and feels like its growing back thicker and darker, and for me thats enough! I understand there's a reason for it, but knowing what's "actually" happening doesn't change the FACT that once you shave it it looks thicker and darker! Plus it will always grow back! You dont want hair on your face looking like its in a state of grow back! I know this chick who shaves her eyebrows instead of waxing or tweezing, and she had since a young teen, and her eyebrows look like thick beard hair always! Like eyen right after she shaves them you can clearly see a five o'clock shadow in them! I feel awful for her, but once you start you can't stop! Your body will quickly adapt to needing to be shaved! And growing the hair out long enough where it no longer looks like a blunt edge thicker grow back hair will take a lot of time and a lot of just letting hair on your face grow! I just cannot imagine risking it !
I love peach fuzz. Like, it makes my skin feel softer than it would without it. The only way to even see it is with specific lighting and angles. The fact you need something to spray on you to see it mean you dont need to shave it.
Probably so. But as for me, i have platinum blonde eyebrows. No matter if i go to a salon or do it myself, its have to see the all the hair. Actually, I'm wondering if this can be used LIGHTLY b4 waxing . Hmmm
I was desperately asking myself why a licensed professional would recommend this, and then I realized she got sponsored. Of course a derm with a product wants you to waste money 😅 Is it okay to do that, not disclose that you're shilling a product? The Bentist would never do us dirty like this 😔
The hair on our bodies and faces is to protect our skin from climate changes etc. Normalize face and body hair. I’ve rocked my ‘peach fuzz’ my whole life and it will never change!
Exactly, I don't shave at all either. Do people really think it's only the eyelashes and eyebrows that protects? Because its literally all of our body hair WE'RE MAMMALS
I do makeup but dont use foundation, so I've never run into a problem facial hair wise. I can completely understand where this product has value, but do remember you dont need to be perfectly smooth for anyone else. If it's your preference, have fun and go wild, but society's opinions change quicker than the weather, dont try to keep up. Find yourself.
@@paradarks1353 You we’re being nice abt but some people if they just mention a razor they go insane and start talking abt how crazy the Beaty standards are when in reality a lot of people do it for themselves.
@@w0nyst0e Most people do it out of insecurity and simply make excuses to convince themselves that it's not insecurity, like saying that makeup looks better.
@@Malenart_468 so what if people do if cause of insecurity if it makes them feel better then allow them. It genuinely does make my skin feel better like it or not.
I’m leaving the hair on my face because we can’t see it unless you are looking for it. I’m leaving the hair on my face because it protects me. Yes hair is protection for our body.. 😊
Hi not a dermatologist but an esthetician: shaving vellus hairs (peach fuzz) does not offer many benefits outside of marginally easier makeup application. If you have sensitive skin or are prone to conditions like eczema, acne (especially cystic), rosacea, or psoriasis, you can actually cause adverse damage to the skin by dermaplaning. Vellus hair is also very soft and nigh imperceptible naturally but if you shave it, it will grow back with a blunt edge and can cause discomfort, or a terrible breakout. If you have enough terminal hairs on your face you’ll also get a five o’clock shadow. Consult with a reputable dermatologist (not this lady because this is an ad) or a reputable esthetician to see if dermaplaning is possible for you, don’t trust influencers who are either unqualified or trying to sell you something.
It’s really not worth doing it, everyone says “just use clean tools it’ll be fine!” But there’s absolutely no way to tell how your skin is gonna react to doing it. I did everything to a T, got the special razor, washed my face, was super cautious and gentle and I literally had the worst break out I ever experienced, and it wouldn’t go away till my hair came back and even then i still got more breakouts due to ingrown hairs and etc. there’s nothing wrong with having peach fuzz.
My mother is a nurse And she said its not a good idea to shave The peach fuzz off of your face because it protects you from things like your nose hair does too It's also asking for makeup products to get into your skin and pores when it's not really good for your skin in the first place Peach fuzz is helping your skin from absorbing all of that chemicals Because even though you might have makeup remover products it's still not going to remove all of it fully
If you can't see it without a spray, how is it an issue? If you weren't insecure about it until someone pointed it out, how is it an issue? I'm happy with my fuss, thank you very much.
lord, look at the levels women choose to go thru all for the sake of looking good, not for themselves, but for men 😭 we'll never get out of patriarchy. free us.
I’m a woman, and even with my calloused hands I can feel the peach fuzz! Also, if you can’t see it, no one else can or cares about your peach fuzz. Can we Please stop finding ridiculous things to shame ourselves about? Remember the thigh gap bs? Like, come On! Love yourself in your own skin, or you will never find a way to love yourself. You’ll always find something you hate about yourself, and never get to the point where you do.
One time this dude that I knew since elementary would always call me rat, monkey, or just complain that girls shouldn’t have hair. I am south Asian so I grow a lot of hair on my body and since it’s thick you can see it clearly, one of my biggest insecurities. One day something came over me and I just looked at him dead in the eye and said, “At least I can grow hair, your balding at 14,” and he never talked to me again.
I wouldn’t say this is a good idea. Every time I’ve tried this, I breakout horribly even with doing proper care and moisturizing. I know this doesn’t happen for everyone but it’s something to at least be cautious of.
it also make the hair grow back thicker and darker. If you start this you're going to be doing it the rest of your life. There's NOTHING wrong or bad with hair on your face! The benefits do not outweigh the concequences.
Idk why so many woman hate on this i get my entire face threaded and its awesome! I go home and wash my face with a gentle cleanser and apply a gentle moisturizer and it minimizes break out
Can we please normalize hair on any part of the body? These beauty standards aren't really... giVInG anymore. It's too unrealistic and trying to be "perfect" even the littlest thing. Hair is normal everyone, please don't hate yourself and try to be like everyone else/compare yourself. Armpit hair, leg hair, arm hair, etc, it's fineeee
Women need to stop doing this and then beings surprised when the hairs come back darker and thicker and everywhere. I was literally listening to a girl talk about doing this at work and was so confused why she’s got patches of brown rough hair on her face and then it comes out she does this all the time. You are SHAVING YOUR FACE. What happens when you shave? The idiocy is incredible
@@Musicbased39 so then explain why they have all over my body where I regularly shave. Sorry. But you’re wrong. They do. Whether that’s because as you shave you’re only getting the top of the hair or not, it is thicker, darker, and more noticeable.
Thats a myth. And completly stupid one too. A peice of metal will not genetically change your hair down to the molecular level to make it alter its appearance. In reality, it just appears thicker because you got used to seeing your hairless form.
I’m starting to think dermatology only teaches you how to sell. I’m not trying to be mean, but I don’t wear makeup and went a few years without using soap on my face and I had no acne. You literally don’t need to put anything on your face. I usually use warm water to wipe away dead skin and oil in the shower. This is how I got a clear face.
I remember I was little when I learned this- There is tiny peach fuzz hair all over your body, the only places you don't grow ANY hair is the bottoms of your feet and your palms
i’m also not really understanding the comments saying the dermatologist is shaming people for having hair, she literally said the hair is normal. some of y’all are projecting your insecurity and feelings of shame onto her when she never said the hair was bad, just gave info on dermaplaning. someone doing something you disagree with and someone else saying “here are the benefits of doing this” isn’t inherently shaming you just because you don’t wanna do it. no one told you that you have to. people are getting way too sensitive these days…
Im so tired of seeing people take offense to harmless things others do to their body, its not hurting anyone, especially not you, so let these girls live there life, without shaming them for posting peach fuzz removal on the internet. They are not forcing you to do it yourself.
It's literally not harmless though? That hair is meant to be there. If you remove it, you're going to break out. Not to mention that spray will clog up your pores and cause more damage. That plus the extra exposure to the sun boosting your chances of getting skin cancer, and oh! Right, almost forgot the whole implication handed out to young girls that "if you don't do this, you're ugly and lazy". Y'all are seriously naive if you think this is "harmless".
it’s not really about making new insecurities, it’s more about how your makeup and skincare goes on. when you dermaplain (i can’t spell it) your skincare can penetrate the skin deeper and your makeup can go on smoother. i’m not saying everyone should do it, it’s just some girls preferences!
Hear me out❤ Hairs grow for a reason, and they are the thickest in most sensitive external areas like the skull (where ur brain is), ur armpits (where a lot of lymph nodes gathers), private areas (thin skins and dense bacterial growth). Hairs are known to do a bunch of things: insulate, trap tiny bugs, keep moisture, protect our cells from direct uv damage. Just know that shaving can help with certain things but only if the preparation and post-shaving maintenance (sanitization, extra uv protection, clean bed sheets, ingrown hair removal, even ur genetics) are all done and done correctly. Summary: do it if a professional has decided that the benefit outweighs the risks and not for looks. Good looking people are the ones who take care of their health, not the ones with a ego to look smoother than others. ❤
I just use a face oil & i always make sure i use a brand new razor everytime. Reusing razors causes break outs & of course wash your face before & after.
Cosmetologist not a doctor, but: Dermaplaning is medical face shaving. Use a clean, new razor blade(the guarded ones are just fine) and exfoliate normally before and gently after. Eyebrow razors are more like mens straoght edges but with a little safety built in so theyre a decent suggestion. Exfoliating as normal beforehand gets rid of some of the dead skin and hairs as well as helps provide time for water in whatever cleaning products you use to soften the hairs. A gentle rub after helps clean remaining debris from the newly revealed underlayer of skin and may help prevent a break out. If you often get razor burn shaving less sensitive areas like lower legs, do not do this yourself at home. At least not without the warning that using the same method/routine that causes razorburn will likely lead to razor burn or a skin break out on even more sensitive skin.
if you can't see the hair without the spray, then you don't need to do this. learn to accept your hair and the skin you're given. these tiny hairs are there to help protect your skin!!!
Idk about you but the fact that we have it might mean we need it. It’s probably meant to protect the skin of the face, something that is already vulnerable. I have never removed the hair.
hey everyone, i just wanted to say that for the most part, dermaplanning isn’t about being self conscious of peach fuzz. it’s usually for people who wear makeup so that the products sit smoothly on the skin, people with complex skincare routines who want to improve product absorption, and on some people it can help with acne through exfoliating and removing dead skin cells and oil buildup. edit: i do want to agree, however, that i don’t think this is a certified dermatologist and i think she’s just slipping in an ad. by no means do you need to buy these products. it’s all about your own skincare, so do your research and judge appropriately
She's not supporting peach fuzz removal as a beauty trend, she's explaining how this tool can help people exfoiliate at home safely (lubricant, cooling, and prevents overexfoiliation since you know which areas you've passed over already). Peach fuzz isn't "ugly," but doing this can give your skin a glassy look that helps your makeup sit better too. Just don't do it more than once a week.
Why is everyone in the comments acting like she’s forcing you to get rid of your peach fuzz 😭 it’s not the Stone Age, body hair is entirely a choice and it’s ok for some people to choose to be natural and some to be shaven. It’s nobody’s business regardless! It’s not that deep, some people just like shaving. I for one shave because I have sensory issues with having a lot of peach fuzz
If you have Sensory issues, that's fine but I'm not sure if it's entirely safe to shave it dry (I'm not sure, this is just what some comments said, multiple comments) so please don't do it dry if that's the case!!
1: Peach fuzz isn’t an issue. 2: if you DO wanna get rid of dead skin exfoliate it’s safer and much easier than possibly cutting your face open And 3: these are money grabs so if you do wanna shave your peach fuzz use gentle face masks that leave a thin layer of foam or product that show your peach fuzz. It’s a lot cheaper.
Guys people need to chill, no one is forcing these people to derma plane, it’s not bad for you, but it’s not for everyone. The girls depicted are just trying out a new skincare trend. The dermatologist isn’t telling people to do it, she’s just explaining what it is like chill no one’s getting brainwashed lol
i also don’t wanna hear people say “oh but dermaplaning causes acne” sure, for you!! i’ve been doing it since i learned what it was and i’ve never gotten and increase in acne from it. it’s 2024, weeks should know by now that EVERYONES SKIN IS DIFFERENT
This is horrible for those of us with Folliculitis or sensitive skin 😢😢 my face right now has been super infected from horrendous folliculitis. So all the places I did this are now huge sores . And I just got my hyperpigmentation and scarring down a ton 😢
i remember when guys complained abour how Aloy's character model in...horizon forbidden west? had a "beard" which made her not look feminine...and it was peach fuzz
She forgets to mention that shaving the hair stimulates the hair follicles making that soft and light peach fuzz grow in darker and stiffer. This also spreads bacteria on the face causing breakouts and acne. And don’t tell me it didn’t happen to you. Just cause you didn’t experience it doesn’t mean someone else won’t.
As a woman who struggles with hirsutism, it's frustrating to see people freak out over the peach fuzz on their face. I WISH all I had was beach fuzz instead of this coarse black hair on my face that I have to shave every couple days to feel normal.
The purpose of removing face hair is to make it soft. But if you have a remotely typical amount of face hair for a woman, that hair should look and feel soft and be totally unnoticeable. Whereas shaving it will irritate your skin, cause acne, ingrown hairs, and prickliness when it grows back in a week. Seriously why do this
Ladies love yourselves. This is not necessary, there is nothing wrong with this hair. I would be concerned that the hair will react to be removed and thicken becoming more whisker like. One of the few bonuses of being female is that we don't have to shave our faces, take the win.
