I went to a dermatologist about my flaky scalp. see that video in part one. In this video, I picked up the products my dermatologist provided me and I"m doing my first natural hair carewash day routine using all new hair products + mini reviews.. this is the start of a new hair journey and I'm so excited. I can already see a big difference.

I have scalp psoriasis and for years I didn’t understand why after washing my hair my scalp would always still have flakes. No matter how much I scrubbed my scalp or how much oil or even grease I used my scalp would still be a mess. Dry skin to the point where it was bleeding and I had just oiled it yesterday. I went to a dermatologist FINALLY because I had had ENOUGH. When she diagnosed me with psoriasis and said she was going to give me something to clear it up I was skeptical. After the first WEEK MY SCALP WAS CLEAR. I was so happy. Saying all this to say don’t listen to anybody but the doctor when it comes to your scalp because if what they gave you works then it’s worth it.

I use that same shampoo on my daughters hair. To answer your question regarding using a different shampoo first, that’s exactly what I do. Right now I use a moisturizing shampoo then last shampoo is the medicated one. I am contemplating using a dandruff shampoo and then the medicated one. Also I put the medicated shampoo in an applicator bottle to be able to save product and also apply directly to her scalp as she has a lot of hair. Just some tips to help 😊

Triamcinolone is a great protect for dry skin and eczema. I’ve been using it for years for my eczema and it’s the only ointment that works for me hands down! Good luck🤞🏾

seborrheic dermatitis! my hubby has it and the best shampoo is selsun blue and he washes his hair daily also it effects the ears, and face and cause discoloration along the hair line like yours. For his face we use some products from Walgreens to help. this condition is an emotional roller coaster but it can be managed.

That shampoo and ointment your dermatologist prescribed you is going to work a miracle! I remember I had to use it for a year or 2 when I was a child because for some odd reason out of nowhere when my mom would wash my hair my scalp would feel so raw and it would burn with just water. I use to suffer from very dry scalp and dandruff even after a fresh wash. After using the shampoo and the ointment I noticed a tremendous reduce in dandruff. I no longer suffer from dandruff or dry scalp just normal flaking from products! And this was over 12 years ago.

Hi Destiny! I am so glad that you saw a doctor for your scalp. I've had SD most of my life, and I didn't know what it was until I saw dermatologist. May I suggest that when you shampoo using Nizoral first , keep it on the scalp. Then use a moisturizing shampoo the the remainder ( but don't mix the two) of your hair and condition afterwards. Nizoral can be a bit drying and I've found doing this method counteracts the dryness.

Girl ! I know the struggle!! . I have/had the same problem! Ive been dealing wirh it since 2008. I was recently prescribed a topical steroid too. It’s been a few months since I started it and I feel normal again. No more itchy flakey scalp! I can now go two weeks or more without washing my scalp and I don’t have to apply as often to maintain a healthy scalp. People have recommended everything to me to cure it naturally and absolutely nothing has worked. I’ve tried every shampoo , oil and remedy out there. So, Im excited for you ! I am transitioning to natural and I'm currently 9 months post relaxer, I use the S Curl Spray too and I looove it!! It keeps my hair so moisturized better than any other moisturizer I've used. It's my staple❤

I had a bad patch of dandruff in the front of my scalp. Without doctors recommendation, I use the same ointment that was prescribed for my eczema. It worked amazing and my dandruff was gone.

Love you sis. I’ve been natural since 2103 and it wasn’t until earlier this year that I learned to master my wash n go. Kimberly Cherrell (RU-vidr) helped me with that. Please check her out. Also to prevent your curls from getting flat pineapple your hair. That way you wont have to “fluff” your girls. So in the am all you’ll need to do is shake your curls and keep it moving!!! I’ve been doing this and my wash n go last at least 5-6 days with no additional product or manipulation. Last tip. The fewer manipulating you do to natural hair the faster it’ll grow and the healthier it’ll become. So much love and respect. 🥰🥰

As far as that shampoo, ugh i love it! I had a similar scalp issue with fungus. Patches, scabs, bleeding, itching. I hated to part my hair amd all around my hairline was, a no lol. My doc prescribed a 2% course. Wash once a day for ten days. Then use as needed. It all went away, thankfully. Now, I use it once every two weeks or so. Thanks for the vids! ❤❤

I have to use this same shampoo, but it works best for me when I put it on my scalp first, let it sit for 15 min then wash with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner follow up. It works wonders for me.

I use the same type of ointment for my extreme eczema on my hands, it really helps I used to have huge sores that were extremely painful and I was unable to move my hands. It works for me, but I think my body has gotten used to it and is not working as well as it used to. Also you have beautiful hair 😍

Although I haven't used acetone on my scalp. I remember it being used. For babies cradle cap scalp. I have used it for others parts. Like arm behind ears chest. My scalp is dry same areas also. I'll be using acetone for my scalp. Thanks 🙏🏽 for sharing it works Destiny.

Diffuse the hair for more volume. A little tip more volume=less definition and more definition = less volume. I also suggest shaking your head around vigorously the next day ik it may sound weird but it does help more than scrunching your hair with hands

I have a REALLy itchy scalp. Well I had. I am not sure if it's Alopecia because my edges are thin or Eczema but Ive been putting raw Shea Butter on my scalp and LORD! I have no issues with my scalp anymore. Praise God! 🖤I would scratch my scalp until it was irritated and red.

I had the same issue back in the summer I was prescribed the same shampoo that you have which really didn’t help at all but what did clear it up was head and shoulders 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner. Good luck

I use the same shampoo. My dermatologist have me mix it with my regular shampoo in the palm of my hand. Then apply to my scalp. It works👍🏾

I think it’s time for me to go back to the dermatologist. My scalp is super flaky. I can’t tell if it’s dry or if my eczema is acting up. However, that red shampoo really works. I used it back in the day.

I use the exact same prescribed shampoo and I also use chlorbestoral (sp?) solution . I use that on the hot spots of my sehborric (sp?) dermatitis . It’s been about a yr and my scalp has improved tremendously. I do occasionally still get flakes but it 80% improvement from b4 with the oily nasty patches of dirt.

Thanks so much for sharing. I went to the dermatologist a few years back and was diagnosed with SD. I wasn't prescribed any of the products you were, just some super expensive oil that my insurance didn't cover. It seems that whenever I use products on my hair, my scalp itches and flakes so bad. So I feel like my hair is growing but it's not thriving because I'm not moisturizing it often.

I pray you find total relief. I highly recommend you change your diet for added benefit to your prescribed medications. Cut back or cut out carbs and sugar, processed foods. They cause inflammation in the body and will make any bodily issues worse. No cheap drying hair products. 😉

I'll inquire at my next visit whether my diet is an issue. I honestly don't feel I have any drastically bad eating habits; Not any that contributed to my scalp problems for ALL these years anyway.

I got prescribed that same shampoo by my dermatologist. I had permed my hair years ago, and I had the biggest sore that took over my entire scalp😩 That shampoo stripped my perm immediately😂 But it really helped🙌🏾

I use to struggle with some of the same issues that you currently go through with your scalp. I went to my dermatologist and he had me try the same shampoo. He also prescribed me some Desonide lotion to apply to affected areas twice daily... and with in a week almost all my scalp issues resolved. He diagnosed me with seborrheic dermatitis. Which is a condition that is similar to scalp psoriasis. Maybe you should try it out.
