This was beautiful. Have travelled every year from India for the last decade to see him live and it's always been worth it. Love how you got him talk about the structuring of shows, 45 minutes well spent.

I was grateful to be at those NYC shows, and to meet him afterwards. He was very kind, and I hope he comes back.

Oh yeah the “tense” relationship with the audience. I luckily never had that maybe because I was performing from a very early age. And I learned, especially when playing music that when you fuck up, to either acknowledge it by pulling a disgusted face, and when that part comes around again, pull an over animated for of suspense. And when you play it right the seconds time people applaud extra loud 😂 Funny story I emailed with Andy Nyman when I was a mentalist - he was an honorary member of Psycrets too. He did a film called Wild Romance (I believe) it’s about Dutch Rock legend Herman Brood and I believe also Nena (they used to be close friends). We opened for Herman Brood and the Wild Romance 4 or 5 times. So that was a nice that I could actually tell Andy that Herman was that split personality, between a rock god and a tormented soul that could hardly speak because of the damage to his brain from the substances he had done. But he was so gentle. The first time we opened for them was truly our worst show ever. So bad!!! And he was like: “you can fight but it won’t make the show better. One question I ask all of you, do you love rock and roll?” -“Euhm yeah” “Then focus on the next gig and not on the one that is in the past that one you can never improve on.” Such simple wisdom. Only to hear speak to us one more time: “did you see my stuff? You know…”😂

A little late watching this, but a really insightful interview with very carefully constructed questions that allow exploration and further depth towards understanding what goes into performing. Thank you.
