I'm a disabled combat veteran of SE Florida. One of the very few things I can enjoy outdoors is the Jonathan Dickinson State Park. Why the Department of Environmental Protection(?) wants to develop lodging and golf courses in it? Only Desantis, the people that bribed him, and the people benefiting economically from it knows.

I'm glad this is making national news - here in FL, we've had many golf courses actually close since the pandemic due to financial mismanagement. To take public land and convert it to golf courses makes no sense, when there is already golf courses available the state can step in and revamp.

I'm a 30 plus year Florida resident. There are more than enough courses in this state. There has been non stop development since the day I moved here and no let up is in sight. Leave the parks alone. Undeveloped land is ok.
None of this is about improving parks - They could upgrade campgrounds, improve bathrooms, fix, improve and expand trails, fix historic homes, pave roads, pave campground roads and lets not talk about equipment needs.

I live in SW Florida and we had several golf courses in the area that have all gone under because nobody is playing on them. Golf is in decline as boomers die off and I am a boomer so I see it. None of the younger people I know play golf at all. Tell DeSantis to play his donated really expensive virtual golf in his home. Leave our state parks alone!

What worries me most is they have nine of the parts slated out of our 175 to be to have both motels to house 350 people with parking and golf courses. He starts out saying he just wants to put pickle ball and frisbee golf in there, it’s just putting his foot in the door to let his rich cronies put in their motels and golf courses. The state parks would not even get 5% of the money made from these entities. The state parks are for us people not for the rich people to have more motels and golf courses we have plenty. Please leave our state parks alone there for the people and not the rich ones!
