This is a great move. HOWEVER, it should include criminal prosecution for breaking and entering a structure with intent to commit a crime, criminal trespass and grand theft property, a FELONY.
Of course New York and California will never do this. Instead they will increase the rights of squatters on the premises that squatters are simply unhoused people who have no choice but to live in someone's property while they are on vacation, etc.
@@owenbowen1090 First you wrote that a contract between a homeowner and an HOA is a private agreement, a personal contract. Now you are writing that there are two types of contracts: a personal contract and a business contract. You wrote that states cannot regulate personal contracts but states can regulate business contracts. You wrote that financial tractions are business documents that are regulated, but an HOA agreement with a homeowner includes, among other language, fees for application, fees for maintenance, fees for late payments, fees for special assessments, fees for various extra services, and fees for community violations. These are all financial transactions. So which is an HOA contract? A private agreement that a state cannot regulate (like you initially claimed), or a business document consisting of financial transactions that can be regulated? Since you are contradicting yourself, then I am guessing that you parsing the definition of contracts simply because you don't like Donald Trump.
Another attack on renters during a decades-long housing crisis which was only worsened by Airbnb, Boomer retirements and the pandemic. It's like the failing crapitalist government still hasn't figured out the pitchforks are coming. Anyone that has ever picked up a history book knows how that works.

It's an extremely archaic law that did make sense under the specific conditions and time period when it was created: Someone could find an old, abandoned shack, which no one had lived in for many years, and which was falling into ruin, and in need of extensive repair. Often it was also located in a remote area with very low land value; and had been owned originally by an elderly person who had died with no children/grandchildren/heirs. So the finder (usually along with his wife and children) would work hard to restore the shack to a liveable state, often also working on the surrounding land and planting a garden. Since the shack was usually too decrepit to move into until the repairs were made, the family often stayed in a tent, or a sod-house nearby, while they worked together to make the shack liveable. But it was never intended to include perfectly viable homes whose owners WANT them. It's one of those archaic laws which should've been revised decades ago. I hope more states follow Florida's example!
@@willcolleman8931 He wants to be able to force them into shelters but the homeless advocacy groups keep suing. A Supreme Court case may help his efforts.
Glad to see they approved a law to prevent this, there was this illegal migrant from Venezuela promoting in Spanish that it was ok to proceed to squat empty homes and that all who were arriving here illegally should take advantage.
Ikr, and depending on the state where someone tries that, he or she could get shot! That's criminally dangerous advice; and if some immigrant thinks it's a viable idea and DOES get shot, then the Venezuelan man who told people to do it, should get prosecuted. Lots of immigrants don't know how dangerous this stupid suggestion is.
Squatters moved into my SC condo and trashed it so much that I was forced to sell it for 60% off of my purchase a year earlier. They were professionals
I wish they would do this in California. My aunt has lost over $50k because of a squatter in her house. Been fighting the case for over two years and still waiting
Desantis needs to sign banning HOA scammers from stealing home owners properties or stop special assessments fees and banned HOAs fees period. Instead of harassment homeless people.
I moved from Burbank, California to Florida in 2005. Not only have I never looked back, I don't regret leaving, and I will never go back, not even to visit. I love Florida. It should be the new Capitol.
You should worry more about the Homeowners insurance, cost-of-living,and reigning on the car insurance industry The cost for metal expenses for our seniors instead of attacking the simple problems like squatters rights which I understand is important, but we need some rent control in the state. The prices of living in Florida is getting out of control.
Chang to USA laws.this laws is agreement papers or signatures ( only documents people and ID ,Signatures and rent house or room ) or owners can stay in this house and room .
Our Texas governor Greg Abbott of the great 😃 Red ♥️🍒 Republican state of Texas is the greatest governor that Texas ever had in the history of Time vote red ♥️🍒 for 👑 King President Donald j Trump make America great 😃 again
This idiot DeSantis need to address affordable housing, rent control, helping the homeless in lieu of criminalizing them. Stop the investment firms from buying up the homes. I live in a beautiful gated community with large homes unoccupied because they are investments. It’s driving up high home prices and making it difficult for middle and lower income folks to buy.
This idiot Cindy promotes all the things wrong with this country. Affordable housing (ghettos) rent control (ghettos) helping homeless (enabling coddler).
