The demon dragon dog one looks a lot like Brightblaze, which if you know about the earlier games and have seen the mini previewed for Ghosts of Greyhaven is interesting. Also this Act II seems to have been numbered 4 in the series, so might be something else coming before Act III as well as these two expansions? Also Syrus seems to have been split off from his phoenix as separate figures (I think, the shots are still a bit teaser-ish due to the distance they are zoomed out) From the preview where it was hidden under a big cloth the big mini seems to be about as tall as a human head compared to the others which are about a nose, so it is indeed biiiiiig. As we have fire scenery I'm thinking it's also going to be fairly lethal and tough to bring down....

Brightblaze!? I pulled him out to compare. Definitely can see some resemblance. That would be cool if they make some kind of connection or it may just be the same kind of creature? I was wondering why they called it the fourth darkness? Act 1 is the first darkness? Ghosts of grey haven is 2 or 3? And then they May release 1 other before? Or is the darkness something else completely? Nice eye! I didn’t notice that syrus didn’t have indrus with him. I looked one the website again and in one of the pics you can zoom in and see indrus has her own mini! Can’t wait to take on that dragon and his fire! Probably have some kind of tactic that pushes you towards the fire or it moves. Simulating real fire. Great comments! Thanks

@@boardheroes4757 Re Brightblaze take a look at the mini they previewed for Ghosts of Greyhaven, a figure that could be used for Challara? Maybe one or both have to be 'tamed' in some way to join the forces of good? :) Re the darknesses, the lore of several of the previous Terrinoth games references three darknesses (suggesting that these all came before the games) and the whole of 'Legends' is introduced as being set in the fourth (see the 'Villains of Descent' news item for 'Legends' and the lore book with Act I), so the other three are in its past history, effectively ages in which Terrinoth/Mennara faced a particular threat, the first that of the Uthuk Y’llan, the second that of Waiqar the Undying who is a key part of the story of this second act of 'Legends' and the third the wars of the dragonlords. It seems all three are coming together for the fourth darkness as told in the games of Descent: Legends of the Dark and its three acts, and it seems each game will have a few units of each group, Uthuk, undead and dragons/ dragon hybrids. It is implied by the lore that most/all of the other Terrinoth games take place some time after these first three darknesses as many of them reference the three in their lore and backstory, certainly for the most recent games, so can effectively be considered to all happen in the fourth. But Descent Legends is definitely set in the fourth as it's specifically stated as such. So Act I and II are both in the fourth darkness and I'm guessing Act III will be a conclusion of this saga. I'm working on a big five-part homebrew that does go back to each of the first three darknesses and then has a slightly different but overlapping take on the fourth and goes beyond it into a fifth and final showdown, each with a different main enemy group but some overlaps to the first three and the games. Perhaps more tied into the stuff up to 'Journeys' 2e than 'Legends' and the novels as I was working on it well before those and kind of want to let those exist as their own thing. With Indrus the phoenix as it seems a separate mini and Brightblaze/Challara possibly in Act II and Ghosts of Greyhaven respectively I wonder if we're getting familiars like in both versions of Descent Journeys in the Dark (though this is just speculation on my part, could just be similar creature/mage), still like the fire breath template of Descent Journeys first edition as dragons and similar creatures could flamethrow into a triangle of the board basically which is fun :) , maybe there's similar with the fire but for smaller areas. Have a feeling heroes may have to stop dragons torching the terrain around them! Indrus might be quite useful here too methinks as a phoenix should be a bit more flameproof than other beings!

@@martins3776 challara. That mini does look like a enemy, having the slot underneath, but would be a cool aspect to be able to tam a bet? I heard frosthaven has a tame/capture element. Thanks for clarifying the different darknesses. You sure know a lot about terrinoth! I did get the book about waiqar. Looks like there is half a dozen other books as well!? I’m excited to dive deeper into the world! Homebrew campaign sounds awesome! What heroes are you able to use? I’ve always been a fan of familiars! Hope to see more than just one! Fire burning up the map will be a cool tactic to deal with!

@@boardheroes4757 Indeed both the minis that could be Brightblaze/Challara look like being enemy rather than hero pieces due to having the slots for the bases, so they may be like the allies/lieutenants of 2e 'Journeys' Raythen/Serena which could be enemies OR heroes. This might as you suggest have been adapted to taming animals. Definitely thinking there's a use of them we'll find out on the adventure other than being only enemies, or maybe they've outright turned against the heroes (or of course they are not who I'm thinking they might be!) It even seems Waiqar may have some duality in this act two as there seems to be a bit of overlap/confusion as to who is fighting who that they are playing with in the story of Legends, seems parts of Terrinoth are possibly themselves at war or at least not getting on too well and that there's some conflict of the three groups Uthuk, undead and dragons/ dragon hybrids as the intro in the news article for The Betrayers War (Act II of Legends) says Waiqar's armies are fighting dragonlord Levirax' whilst the Uthuk do their thing too, so there could be some alliances/rivalries that may help or hinder the heroes, perhaps even influenced by their game? So could be a fun mash up of different entities on different sides be that allied or alone and the heroes caught up in it all. I know a lot of the lore as I have a lot of the Terrinoth games including among others the three incarnations of Descent, the latest versions of Runebound and Runewars, all of Runewars Miniatures, Heroes of Terrinoth, BattleLore and its digital version and the RPG sourcebook 'Realms of Terrinoth' which has a whole load of lore in it. Think the earliest I've got are Rune Age, Drakon (loose overlap) and a couple of diskwars sets. There's an artbook coming soon too from the same publisher as the Waiqar and other novels. The homebrew may annoy a few people as for reasons of not being mind-breakingly complex, covering all the darknesses thus making sense and being quite story heavy it has set heroes for each part, likewise enemies, so it's about using what you've got which has its pros and cons, one of the pros being not having to choose from a massive amount of options and getting to play as different entities. If you know about maths and how each option added exponentially increases the overall options and ways things could break such as becoming over/under powered plus the headaches of designing stuff for games this is why I've taken that route. It may have some moments of hero/monster choice too but the choices are more about what you do with the situation you are in. So to What heroes are you able to use? All of them but at the times they are a part of events. If you know 2e and RWM you'll know there are a lot, so to also avoid breaking my brain working on it or breaking the logic of the story it's not every choice all at once. Which I think will work as the heroes and monsters then make sense for each adventure they pop up in in various ways, rather than how you can get with a core game adventure that has to shoehorn everything in the box into an adventure even if the combinations sometimes seem a bit mismatched. As I'm also doing it for the RPG I may go with some more flexible options too but that's where my head's at on the project currently. Homebrew project is 'Wandering orbits of light and shadow' beginning with 'The Descent of Mennara' which explores how the fall (in multiple ways) of both the realm and the initially benevolent dragon that share the name sets in motion the first darkness, bringing death and desires for revenge to the lands and thus also planting the early seeds of the future darknesses as a result, so the evils are a bit like a domino cascade of one thing that leads to another that leads to another and so on. For the homebrew the first three darknesses are the same in terms of the main enemy groups as in the lore, currently the fourth overlaps the games and the three merging somewhat but adds in giants with a link back to the first two Descent adventures unless that plan changes, overlapping the fifth with something else (no spoilers!) Skarn my fave ever Descent enemy makes an appearance bigger than before somewhere but still not sure if will be at the end of four or start of five or both as the two overlap for reasons of again spoilers so keeping it zipped on that.... Also a nice overlap with how Descent second edition finishes for anyone who got that far (in The Chains That Rust), the heroes might just have made things quite a bit worse, which I also won't spoil as it has an 'interesting' ending.... It also uses Syrus for Mabinogi a character mentioned in one of the 2e expansions but not in the games and his raven phoenix, so knowing we may get a standalone phoenix is awesome. Likewise fire as that plays a big part along with said ravens. I might be ahead of the curve on animal taming too as this is already an idea for the homebrew due to the beastmaster in RWM and Mistress of Serpents in the original Descent. So I have delved just slightly deep into this, just slightly :)

@@martins3776 wow! There is so much more to this world then I ever thought! Thanks for sharing and just delving in 😊 I’ll defiantly go check out some of those resources you mentioned! What system would you use for your homebrew? I just watched some videos on genesys from fantasy flight which could be a good system to use for such a story driven rpg?
