For a long time real puukko knife How to video.
So, found another blank blade made by blacksmith Saku Honkisalo from my storage. There’s third one too. 😀
Also contacted Saku and he promised I will get his blade blanks in the future too.
Desert ironwood represents wood species that most knifemakers get more than fachinated. It’s real king of the hardwoods. In this time too moment of using finishing oil. Well, have a look!

Another beautiful knife Osmo! Desert Ironwood with an oil finish is the perfect combination for a knife like that. Saku makes a beautiful blade as well.

Beautiful! As always, Osmo! I made my first Puuko some years ago with YP blade, stacked birch bark handle with peened tang and sheath of leather and curly birch, all by your instructive videos. Still love this Puuko, and still love to watch your uploads. Thanks for sharing your know how and skills! All the best, stay safe

Nice piece of work there, Osmo. I have a couple of blades to work this winter and some moose antler to make handles of. Your work inspires me. I have tried kohlrosing a bit and hope to get better at it with practice.

when you mention Osmo, is that your first name, or are you referring to osmo oil? I've used osmo worktop oil for all sorts of jobs, including knife handles and carved spoons and ladles and its very good product. Its tough water resistant no chemicals and does not crack chip or peel off. Superb stuff

Hi. Do u have any tips on how to make a leuku handle less slippery? I have a curly birch handle on a leuku and the gable is smooth and it is very difficult to grip when in use.
@thetopicala
@thetopicala 3 года назад
What kind of end part is it in your leuku? Same size as handle or bigger nut?
@eamonsrockymountainadventu2296
@eamonsrockymountainadventu2296 3 года назад
It has a flared end but it’s not like a traditional one. It is similar to the anti leukus in handle shape.

@@eamonsrockymountainadventu2296 Slippery handle… I’d say make it smaller or sand it partly more rough and finish it with good finishing oil. ???
