Hooah to the brave men and women of the U.S. Army who fought and died in the Persian Gulf War! Thanks to the 18th Airborne Corps and the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). Thanks for your service!

The 20th Engineer Brigade was an airborne unit at the time and should be shown with the Airborne tab. The brigade lost its airborne status during 2009, with the unit's shoulder sleeve insignia being modified effective 16 September 2009 to remove the airborne tab.

You are correct. I should’ve shown it with an airborne tab. I did mention the Airborne tab and showed examples of some of the other 18th airborne corps units with the tab. Thank you for calling this to my attention . when I update the video I will correct it. Always appreciate any suggestions for improvement.

I was in Apache Troop 1st Squadron 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment. 3ACR as well as 11ADA came from Ft. Bliss TX, where we were part of III Corps. 1 Cav Div, came from Ft. Hood, and as I understand it were also part of III Corps. We were loaned out to 18th Airborne Corp to make them a little heavier as they only had 24 ID for armor, and they were the Quick Response Force, and needed the firepower. I had PCS'd from 4/70 AR, 2nd BDE, 1AD a little over a year before, so I had a lot of friends who were still there.

22nd Support Command was not mentioned. 22nd Support Command served as the primary Logistics and Combat Service Support organization for ARCENT during the Operation Desert Shield, Operation Desert Storm and Operation Desert Farewell portions of the operation.

I served in B battery 1/142 field artillery, part of the 142d Artillery Brigade from Arkansas. One battalion of our brigade was 1/158th field artillery from Oklahoma. We were mobilized and deployed as an independent brigade, rather than a "round out brigade" for a regular army division. We wound up providing fire support for the UK 1st Armoured Division during the tank battles in Kuwait.

3rd Armored Division had Armor and Air Defense battalions from 8th Infantry Division attached to it. Desert Storm started just as units began to downsize and needed to be replenished asap. I was with 8th infantry division at the time and was attached to the 3rd AD. I was authorized to wear either the 3rd AD or 8th IN division patches, I chose to wear the 8th ID.

I have an uncle that served with the 1st battalion 158th field artillery regiment of the OK Army guard during the war. His battalion was attached to the 142nd FA Brigade or the 75th artillery I’m not sure which according to him and everyone I know they were with the 142nd but Wikipedia says the 75th in all his pictures if his unit in Saudi and Iraq they show them using the 45th artillery brigade patch would it also be correct for them ti use the 45th patch fir their combat patch instead if the 142nd/75th? Sorry for any sort of confusion in the post.

@@melaniekeen3611 I know I was just asking which unit patch they would be credited with since it says they were attached they all just wear 45th FA patches.

I was in B battery 1st Battalion 142d Field Artillery (Arkansas National Guard) during the Gulf War. You are correct...1/158th Battalion from Oklahoma was attached to us, to round out the 142d brigade. They were an MLRS artillery unit, multiple launch rockets. Best I remember, they wore the old 45th Division "thunderbird" patch. I got out shortly after the war, but it's my understanding that their combat patch would be the 142d Artillery Brigade patch shown in the video. As he mentions in the video, we provided fire support for the UK 1st Armoured Division against the Republican Guard in Kuwait.

10:08 why is there A fourth infantry division patch there
@veteransmedalsworkshop-moa4376
@veteransmedalsworkshop-moa4376 3 года назад
The fourth infantry division patch is in a soldiers shadowbox and represents the unit he served with during operation Iraqi freedom. He served in both Desert Storm and operation Iraqi freedom so he has 2 combat patches in his display. I will try to do a better job explaining an unusual patch for a particular operation. Thank you for your comment.

Kind of sad they couldn't get real 1st, 2nd, and most importantly 3rd Armored Division patches. What they show represents the basic designs, but actual patches would be so much better. Ditto the 18th Artillery Brigade (Airborne) and the 525th MI Brigade. During this period, the Airborne tab was organic to the patches of both 18th Arty and the 525th. 7th Engineer Brigade patch is incorrect. The patch shown is the 176th EN BDE of the TXARNG, a unit that did not exist during this period. The MI BDE patch of 7th Corps is the 207th, not the 270th Military Intelligence Brigade. The 18th Aviation Brigade patch, like the 18th FA and 525th MI BDE, is missing its Airborne tab. During this period, it was organic to the patch. The 13th COSCOM patch is displayed incorrectly: the red lines should look roughly like a Confederate flag/Cross of St. Andrews. Aside from these issues, this is a pretty good lay down.

What is the 1st Division? Does he mean the 1st Infantry Division or the 1st Armored Division? Sloppy. He must be getting old!
@demurevilleneuvewinslet8235
I'm just curious, why can't someone who can actually draw, create these symbols? Please DON'T misunderstand my statement, I'm not in any way bashing the folks who put on the uniform, and voluntarily decide to serve. That IS NOT my intention. My point is why can't folks who went to art school, or comic book artist be given the opportunity to use their talents in the field to submit some designs? I've seen every patch, and they all suck.

Only a person who never served would say something so ignorant.
