Of course she had to apply three times. She’s a woman. Also, could they have put her into a shorter dress? The poor woman is desperately trying to find the hemline that will go a little bit lower to cover her ass. The way they still dress women in the media. These days is so obvious to me now that I’m older. I was part of second city in Chicago 30 years ago so I can tell you, misogyny is still a thing!

It's actually abusive, like giving somebody the title of "Acting Manager/Director" and no pay increase for months/years. Comedy Central is getting several hosts for the price of none and they need to be called out for it. Just give one of them the job already, preferably her. She's awesome.

@ZenEndurance hosts in general are paid differently than just correspondents, it's a different position. I would assume pay is just increased on nights they are hosting or their salary in general increased but not as much as a nightly host.

The reason she had to wait so long is that the people responsible for bringing in new talent were doing such a terrible job that Trevor insisted on checking out the auditions himself and found a lot of brilliant people who had been swept under the rug for ridiculous reasons.

I really love these candid interviews where the interviewee isn't doing "their bit" but is actually being themselves. One of the reasons why Colbert is such a great host. Desi comes across as an extremely talented, smart, funny, insightful person here which makes the Daily Show persona even more amazing :D

It's great that there aren't any crude comments but let's be honest, Desi Lydic is a gorgeous woman. There's nothing wrong in mentioning that but, in keeping with the modern way things are, it's seldom mentioned in serious comments about her, as if it's a dirty secret. It's a bit weird, to be honest. If she were an actress it'd be fine to talk about it but since she's a "correspondent", notwithstanding that she's a comedian first and foremost, it's kinda uncool to mention it, like it diminishes her talent. It doesn't, it actually complements it :)

@@melanies.6030 I'm convinced her expressions were about the excitement of the crowd and the hullabaloo, etc, not about your suggestion (although I get why anyone may think so). I think that she 100% had consciously planned *(and practiced parts)* and surely thought hard in advance about how to show up, walk that stage and steps, sit, and do the reverse while revealing nothing unplanned and looking as graceful as she is stunning while doing it.

I don't believe it is overstatement to say Desi Lydic is the best Daily Show correspondent since Stephen Colbert. She is also the best of the rotating hosts since Trevor Noah left the show (excluding Jon Stewart, of course).
