I one year to late to this, but before that part, he says to copy the layer you shaped out (cntrl + c) then when you get to that part cntrl + f should work. Took me a few minutes to figure it out, hopefully it helps someone else new watching this..

I think you need to change from your pen tool to the Select tool and select the image so that it shows up in the transparency window

Also you need to copy [CTRL + C] the first shirt layer

Its the same for me, in the transparency part nothing appears. Did u find out a way to make it??

So if you can’t get the path to copy, you probably locked the layer. With the layer unlocked and turned on, Click on the layer and hit command c. Then turn the layer off. Now go to the shirt layer, make the transparency mask, hit command f, and invert the mask.

I’m getting the path but when I copy it to the mask I just get the last path that I made

It's the same width and height as the image you find I found it on google, and mine is 630x630.

Make sure the pen has a + by it . not a -

You should close watch to those layers he works with. 1. trace the image with pen tool and fill black. 2. Copy that black filled path. 3. lock and toggle visibility the path layer. 4. select the source image layer, go to transparency > make mask 5. click on the mask (black box) hit Ctrl/ Comnd + f, then invert mask 6. duplicate the source image, layer order it above the path layer. 7. unlock and toggle visibility and change the color of the path layer. it ll work for you. it works for me after few attempt.👍
