These columns can bear 5 stories, The column design is over specified Its is not economical also design should make as per thickness of walls like 8x18 inch or 8x24 inch would be much better.

You're right and he is right too, this column can hold 5-6 floor easily in resident building but as he said this one is for commercial building which mean live load is many times higher than the resident's live load so 3 floor in commercial is easily equal to 5 floor in resident

Rightly said, too much usage of steel for 3 storey building, even if it's commercial this specification has been exaggerated

@@Deepakyadav-jk5km if the span distance between two columns is higher , then it's acceptable or reasonable to add number of steel rods, but looking at the site the columns are closely arranged and the rooms are not that bigger. Not a proper design

It will be much better if the bottom of plinthbeam atleast 3inches below ground level to avoid seepage of water into basement during heavy rain and the entry of rats through bottom of beam

Hello sir, Are 12 mm 4 bars and 10 mm 2 bars enough in a 9*15 column..? The column to column distance is 15 feet. How many storeys can be built with this much reinforcement..?

Sir in my house contractor is using 20 columns but in 6 columns span is 18.5 feet, 19 feet. Is column spain is right. Column size is 9×14 and bars used are 16 bars. 16 mm are 4 bars and 12 mm are 2 bars. And plinth beam size is 9×18 can I go for G+2 with this structure

My contractor has give 25feet distance between two pillars. He has used 9x18 pillar size with 8 pieces of 16mm tmt bars. Beam size is given as 9x24 with 6 pieces of 20mm bars. It is a G+2 residential building. Is it ok ?

Thumbs rule: Never make decision on how big and how many bars to use for your house/building if you are not a trained structural designer. Buildings are most likely different from each other. Hire a prof structural engineer, be safe and save money.
