Hello, The degree of freedom of OA is the number of rows - 1. So for L8 array the degree of freedom is 7 which not higher than the degree of freedom required. So why L8 is selected?
It is actually about possibility of fitness.. DOF required is 7 means 4 factors and 3 interactions.. And L8 has provision to fit 7 elements... Thats why.. L8 is selected... You can say it is not higher than 7 but it is 7... So L8 will fit hardly.. But there will be no space for error terms...
