I live in the hills of North-central Idaho in a tiny rural town. Our little house has a metal roof. When my our bedroom was upstairs the sound of the rain pattering on the roof brought back so many wonderful childhood memories of being snug in my flannel-lined sleeping bag, listening to the rain on the canvas of our tent trailer. The first winter we were here, we had about 15’ (over 4.5m) of snow. Power and telephone went out, and I had to close the little library I ran. It was amazing, quiet, beautiful-like living in a snow globe. I constantly think there’s poetry in somewhere under the trees. My husband and I love watching your videos.

As a child, I used to enjoy sitting by a specific window when it rained because it was cooler than anywhere else in the house and I could hear the rain drops hitting the window. It was a mindful experience before I knew what mindfulness was lol. Great video!

Nothing like a brisk walk in the rain at night with the city lights reflecting off every shiny surface. I especially appreciate you speaking about the incorporation of nature back into the architecture.

As a Portuguese architect, this theme of outdoor integration is something that my architecture school (and others in my country) really focus on. The moments of contemplation and wholesomeness are really key when you want to infuse intimacy and comfort into the building, especially if it's to be a home for someone. Not sure if you (or whoever is reading this comment) are familiar with Álvaro Siza's work. If not, I do recommend studying his process and drive behind the projects. Thanks so much for the videos, Dami. Really enjoy them :)

I love the chain-rain-drain thinggy. Such a great idea! And I love the Autumn & Winter when I get out of the city and into nature... but when I'm in the city I rarely see anything but the negatives. This video gave me some insight into partly why... my city apartment completely blocks out any of the weather; it's something you're completely isolated from or completely exposed to - there's little of the comfy balance between the two.

I know what you mean. City living can be very desensitizing. That's why things like fireplace on loop or cosy rainy day videos exist I guess 😆 you can take advantage of public spaces though, spend some time finding a nice coffee shop and sit there with a coffee on a rainy day..

My mom is planning to build her house and asked me to give suggestions. I am not an architect or anything, but I watch a lot of HGTV and design videos online. I convinced her that she needs a sleeping porch, a window seat with a large window and a big balcony. Lots of outdoor living features too. So this vid convinced me I did the right thing.

This is beautifully explained. As a graduate architect, I often share facts about the need for 'site specific design'. To put it in few words I say, "The building is a platform for us to experience nature in a controlled manner".

Frank Llyod Wright using those chains dovetails into the architecture in such a subtle fashion, like when there is no rain you might say What the hell, why this? But during the rain when it does its magic like that, its becomes a specific memory for the owners about the house. One thing they will never forget! I had this epiphany about some designs that finds their way into the people's memories. Really inspiring stuff.

I like the series revolving around a particular architect it kinda helps some continuity between the concepts. The way design of a building radiates into the landscape seems like a really fundamental concept. Also as someone that wants to learn how to sketch concepts and design I was struck when you took an ink drawing and a yellow marker and visualized warmth radiating into a room maybe that’s basic but 🤷‍♂️

Greetings Dami ! Always a wonderful time viewing your often insightful videos. You are an interesting, intelligent, charming, fun, bright, attractive, adventurous, skilled, talented individual. Please take the comment/compliment strictly as a pleasant observation. :) I too took a road trip journey over several years to the variety of Frank Lloyd Wright brilliance and beautiful architecture. For I was inspired by him--as I grew up in Chicago and Oak Park Illinois--and even from my adolescence (which was quite some time ago as I have recently "entered my 70's! Who Knew?!) I somehow knew his creations were unlike any others. Extraordinary! And they inspired ME to make an attempt at becoming an architect! Sadly, that was not to be. For though I was an excellent draftsman--all I wanted to do was try to recreate/emulate Frank Lloyd Wright...with a bit of Louis Sullivan and Daniel Burnham mixed in. My instructors, in my sophomore year at University, eventually had to tell me that I needed my OWN voice, my OWN imagination! And back then, all I could think to myself was: "Why"?!? Frank Lloyd Wright was the master of architecture and I wanted to "follow in his footsteps--unfortunately, a bit TOO closely. I was eventually advised to consider finding another path of study/career. I was asked not to enroll for my Junior year--there were other gifted students who could use a seat. I was crushed, but of course--in the long run, they were correct. So, I found photography and have been one off and on for the last 45 years! It also imbues me. And though influenced by hundreds of others, and dozens of the true Masters in many forms/schools of Photography (architectural, fine art, fashion, landscape, portrait, et al) there at least I discovered my own "eye"! Happily. All this brought up oh somewhat in the way of an introduction...to then let you know why I am including two links to videos here on You Tube. I would not be at all surprised if you have of course seen them--but if not, they are quite interesting and insightful. Oh, on Frank Lloyd Wright, of course. A shared fascination. Enjoy them if not yet viewed. Much more to say, but it will keep. This was just my way of "getting acquainted" I hope so, that we might be doing that, and that you don't mind I didn't intrude. Keep on going and stay inspired! I am duly impressed by what your are, and continuing to attempt to accomplish. Building with quality and compassion and love of nature and humanity is a true noble calling!! HUGS! And I adore the rain! Oh, and btw...did I mention that I'm a "general neutral" crossdresser?! Silly me for almost forgetting. Stay safe and well. PS: and don't let any of the "nay-sayers" get you down or wear you out! You GO Girlfriend!!!! Ahh...and this is my Instagram link...just on the chance you might consider view some of my photography. You'll like it. :) instagram.com/veemichaelsphoto/ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-W8EABJrMplY.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DeKzIZAKG3E.html
