i think you did really well on the logomark, but i felt it connected more to the @ symbol, which didn't really remind me of uber. i personally preferred the 2nd one anyway. really enjoyed the video, quality content as always!
Yeah I can see that! Some have said it looks like a tyre print or even a pin on a map, design can be so subjective 😂 I appreciate your comment and glad you enjoyed the video 😊
Abi, soy tu FAAAANNN!!! me veo tus videos con subtítulos, retrocediendo de vez en cuando para ver lo que vas haciendo o simplemente para repetir tus procesos ✨💪
I love these kinds of videos when designers try to make something in just a few minutes. It's fun challenge that I enjoy watching and it's insightful to the creative thinking that goes into something like this. Quality content indeed
Your video it's great, I wish you would repeat it using the same logo and use the logomark of the person sitting on the car please!!!! It's AWESOME. In the beginning of the second logotype creation I thought you would connect the u and the b on the top and put a white dashed line in the middle of the ligature to symbolise the road but your creation was great. The person sitting on the car u was by far the best logo Uber has ever had.
Initially I wasnt to keen on the route you were going with this logo, but by the end of it I found the logo mark reminded me of a "map pin" so really ended up working out with the type of company Uber is. Great job for 15min.
Your videos helped me consider a new career path, thank you! This one has inspired me to work on my first logo redesign, with Uber as well and I am pretty happy with the result 😁
off topic but i’d love you to make a video on font licenses and what you can do/sell with each type of license etc? i think it would be really helpful! great video btw:)
Have a video on how I manipulate fonts here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lNOqlS5X1GU.html but yes I plan on doing one where I go through my most used Illustrator tools! Thank you for your kind words 😊
Hi abi. First of all, thank you for all the useful videos you made for us 😊 could you make a more detailed video about how you keep the finished brand, in what formats and how you present it to the client and how you send it ...
No Problem, just glad I can help people 😊I have a dedicated video on how I do it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MOlTINHbSLA.html let me know if it helps!
@@abiconnick ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-38NY5yRgABk.html this type of video is very useful to me.but a few things still remain unclear to me...i will try to explain🙂 .I see that in the final part of the video you made a mockup, pattern, card and presented it all in the mood board. I would know this part after that. how do you save all this and in what formats and what do you actually send to the client.thanks for your time!
Thank you for the kind words 😊 So it's actually my partner who makes them, he's a video editor, I know he uses a mix of premiere and after effects, the sections where there is 3D camera movement that is all done in After effects, we are working together on potentially bring a video out about it as I get asked a lot! 😊

I loved this video! It's super inspiring and it's super motivating. Thanks Abi! I just have one question: how do you do all your animations in your videos? With a specific editing software? It's great, it gives a lot of dynamism!
Love to hear it! Glad I can be of help 😊 So my partner edits all my videos and he uses a mixture of adobe premiere pro and after effects, a lot of time goes into them but it's for sure worth it! We will hopefully bring a video out about it in the future, as it's been requested a few times! Appreciate your kind words!
It may be my whole overall experience with the Uber brand, but I prefer the original one and feel a lot more connected to it. Their simple straightforward logotype with the capitalized U works a lot on their favor. Simple for the process of getting a ride wherever whenever (compared to say, getting a taxi) and the capitalized U really reminds you who the king of mobility apps/services is ahaha. I love your logotype tho and it's very creative, if not for the concept I'd even say yours is better........ in 15 minutes......
Oh my god Abi I nerver (really never) write comments but this is soooooooo amazing! I think they should use your logo immediately cause it's so much better than the current one. I'm so deeply impressed! Even the little advertising video in the end.. my gosh I can't say how amazing that is. Great job, great video, maximum entertaining and eucational. Just great!
Thank you so much!! really appreciate it 😊 It would be very cool if they used it, but I'm still waiting for them to email me 😅😂 Again thank you for the comment and your kind words, a lot of effort goes into these videos so I'm really grateful!
Thank you 💛 My partner actually edits all my videos and he does them, but we are working on bringing a video out soon to help, as it's been highly asked for! 😊
Hey Abi! I love what you did here in just 15 minutes. I have never imagined uber could be this cool! I wanted to understand what tools do you use to make the logo presentations? They are beautiful! Is it Premier Pro and After Affects?
Thank you 😊 Appreciate it! So my partner is a video editor and he creates them for me, he uses a mix of premiere and after effects, the sections where there is 3D camera movement that is all done in After effects, we are working together on potentially bring a video out about it as I get asked a lot! 😊
Is there any colors we can't use in logo design or brand identity...? Because when i have done some research i found that colors can be trademarked and there's already brands who trademarked their colors.
I wouldn't say there are colours you can't use, more so colour pallets, for example if you were to create a brand and the colour palette was the exact same red and blue that Pepsi use then you might have a problem, but no one can trademark a single colour, but colour combinations and colour palettes, maybe!
@@abiconnick so is there any way to check the colour pallets that we should avoid? Just in order to not have any problem with brands who trademarked it maybe
@@anouarlakhal5948 To be honest I'm not sure, I personally don't use anything, research prior to starting your project should help you get an understanding of the colour palettes that have been used on similar branding projects within the same industry.
As per my knowledge there is no such rules that you can't use any color/color palette and color /color palette can be trademark. Yes you can't use the same color with the same logo design of the already registered trademark, you can use the same logo mark with the different color and get the trademark after some explanation but it's of no use. #note: laws and rules are subjected to country and might not applicable in different County. Do check the trademark rules of the country you wanna register in.
Love to hear it! 💛 So my partner is a video editor and he creates them for me, he uses a mix of premiere and after effects, the sections where there is 3D camera movement that is all done in After effects, we are working together on potentially bring a video out about it as I get asked a lot! 😊
Actually think setting boundaries like a time limit like this forces creativity more as you have no time to over think and ponder! But just for fun to give myself a little challenge 😊
@@abiconnick no worries Dear. I also told my opinion to you in a casual way. Be happy dude. Live.love .laugh. be satisfied abt this life.. cause we r all temporary beings.
Hello Abi! I messaged you on YT few days ago about GD apprenticeship! I am in dire need for help and there's no one that can help me out! I am looking to drop out of uni and do an apprenticeship. All the ones that are available close by are Digital Marketing Apprenticeship. Would you advice me to follow this apprenticeship? What should I do since I have no other choice? Hope to hear from you soon 😭🎇
Hi there 👋 I know it sounds simple and boring but way up the pros and cons of each choice then make a decision, a good option could be to only leave uni once you have an apprenticeship in place! So my partner actually did a Digital marketing apprenticeship when he first started, you may happen to do a little design (depending on the industry you work in) but it's mostly aimed at how to do marketing campaigns and admin stuff like copyright laws etc. But I'm pretty sure the Uk don't offer just graphic design apprenticeships anymore, they are either called Content Producer apprenticeship or Digital Marketing Apprenticeship. If I were you I would apply for as many as I can, then if you get an interview ask how much design will be involved and make a decision from there. Hope this helps, I wish you the best! 😊 P.s you always have a choice! I don't know you but I presume your in your early 20's, you don't have to have life figured out yet, embrace the journey, and whatever will be will be.
This came out really well! I would love to see a video where you break down how you make your video presentations in more depth. I know you're pulling stock video from Envato and combining them with mockups, but I would love to see the process more if you were able to show it. I think that's a piece of the design process that you do really well and I don't think you've fully dived into yet.
Thank you! Definitely, a fun but hard challenge, especially as it's not the sort of style I usually work with, but I love me a good challenge!! Thank you so much💛
The logomark actually reminds me of the car's tires, so for me it works really well! Loved that greenish color you added to the color palette, it definitely has more personality now :)
Sans-serif logotype is the standard these days haha. Nice I like what you did with connecting the letters cool idea, the only thing is the b losers legibility.
The stress levels were high but I did notice it after!! There were so many things I noticed after and was like OMG that fits in so well 🤣🤣 thank you so much!
Just one word for you, Absolutely lovely :) Big Kudos to you Abi! Loved the way, she talks, she researched for uber and their history and ofcourse her editing skills. ❤️
The full logo is very cool but I don't think the symbol one fits the style, it reminds me more of the Pinterest logo and if one saw just the symbol alone I don't see how they will connect it to the brand "uber"
Well, if we dont hear from Abi anymore its because Uber bought her desing and she is millionaire now 😂 I really enjoy this type of videos where we can see your process :) Loved the desing
hahah I wish 😂 even if I was a millionaire I would still post to the channel, have such an amazing community on here! So grateful! Thank you, appreciate your kind words and support 😊
@@abiconnick hey, I was referring to the uber video that you edited. cause I"m a new graphic designing and before i started watching you my presentations were boring but now cause of you i actually RECIEVE FEEDBACKS! which is a great up for me. And about the uber video, if you could make a tutorial for that i could really try and implement it on my projects. Cause it could give a lot of personality to the product than even mockups. Thank you for he reply
If I am asked to choose between the current Uber logo design and Abi's redesign, to be honest, I would prefer Abi's redesign. It looks more fun and highly attractive, simple and well explanatory. Looks like you're a God-sent designer, I just keep on wondering how you are able to come up with all these amazing Designs, most especially on this 15 minutes challenge?🤔 Well, for the ascent color, I would have love it to be a warm color, like orange. But still, this is the best I have ever seen. Don't worry Uber will consider your logo redesign 🤗. Keep up with the short time logo design challenge. IT'S FUN🤩
I love this video! That Uber logo is stellar and better than their current logo! You’re such an inspiration. I would love to see a video with a description of all those illustrator commands and tools you were using.
I love the final logo Abi, you smashed it! Also love how the green in the color palette also matched your shirt 😂 I really hope you have a course in the making for us aspiring designers who’d love to get started on freelancing these types of designs! It would be amazing to see the full process in a design aspect to the client. And who better to learn from but the Queen right here! 💕
Thank you 💛 Haha the colour must have been in my subconscious! Courses are coming soon, been working on them for a while now bts, just taking a bit of time because I want them to be great! Appreciate the kind words and support 😊
I never felt so in touch with a stranger on RU-vid that I never met! You're amazing! Keep shining bright 🥺 Love you and will support you always! Keep doing what you're doing because you're amazing at what you do 💝💎
This is so lovely to hear!!!! Thank you so damn much, your comment means the most! I’m so glad I’ve been able to chat with you through this community 🧡
Thank you 💛 this is the third time I have done a 15 minute challenge and I do feel like I've gotten better, I think sometimes putting restraints on work or tasks almost forces creativity and actually helps! Otherwise we can be there all day just choosing over what font or colour palette to use 😂 Really appreciate your kind words, thank you 😊
The logomark reminds me Profile Tyrecenter, it’s very close to their logomark so I can understand why it reminds people of tires or wheels. Uber already uses green in their Uber Eats logo so a shade of green was a logical decision. The video was a lot though, at some point I turned off the sound since it was distracting me from the actual process.
In Ubers case I think what they have been going after is to gain a reputation of a more high quality brand, rather that being "the cheap option" that they definitely have at the moment. More generally why "only logotype" visual brand identities are becoming more important is the fact that the name of your brand is way more important than the visual appearance in the age of social media. In videos, tweets and conversations people mention your brand name often, but they rarely end up showing anything. When people see your brand in the wild they then have to be able to connect the name they heard before to the brand. People don't want to use the product from the ad. They want to use the one they heard about from their friend or other people they trust.
haha I love the support 😂 They are always so stressful, but actually quite fun! Think a time limit defiantly forces your creativity! Always appreciate your comments and support! 😊

Thank you! I have a video editor that does all of the editing and makes the brand reveal videos (definitely don't have the time or skills haha). I know they use adobe after effects and premiere pro!)
Love the video as always Abi! I always pop them on whilst I'm working as it feels like having a colleague in the room :D The Nike logo was designed by a student for $35 back in the day, how crazy!!? Just shows to always charge your worth and never undercut yourself!
@@abiconnick I know right!? I feel for the poor student so often when it comes to preparing my price packages for clients! I guess they had no idea how massive Nike would become but wow :|
I just finished my Graphic Design course but have a long way until becoming a professional. I just found your channel and I must say I not only am learning a lot from you but also feel very inspired. Sometimes as a beginner it's easy to lose motivation to improve. I love your videos and the new logo looks amazing! Thank you so much for making these videos and keep up with the awesome content! Much love from Germany!!
As usual you never disappoint Abi. I am a Junior graphic designer and you are truly an inspiration and I love your work more each time ! This project really came out A-M-A-Z-I-N-G ! Uber better reach out to you to update their branding ! Haha 😄 Also, could you do a typography video where you go more in depth on how to complement a logo or business style/name since I am having trouble with that and I know other graphic designers do too. Thanks and looking forward to more videos!
nike logo wasn't aquired for millions, it was like 40 bucks and then later they gave the woman who designed it a ring... pretty massively undercompensated
Heyyyyyyy Abi ❤, You rocking again🌟 & that brand presentation video made me go just wowwww😮like How ???? .............. You took the brand to another level ,Bravo! 😘
The idea is great But we can't connect with the brand @ doesn't connect with uber Also the font could be misread as ulaer But still i would say this is real solid work in just 15 mins 👍👍👍👍
i wanna be a graphic designer and this videa keeps me motivated to pursue this i have no experience and im scared to go to university like heck i dont even know how or what those tools are😂 so many😂
Glad the video inspired you! You don't have to go to uni to be a designer you can be self taught or get an apprenticeship, just figure out what direction is best for you! Remember everyone starts somewhere 😊
Hey i have a question do you have piece of advice for new designers and the one who has just started work with their clients? I like your videos and they are very usefull to me
I would just say be okay with learning along the way as you'll never know everything, at the start really focus on providing good work to your clients as word of mouth is so important! And document your journey on social media, this is a great way to get future clients! I wish you all the best :)
