Always love these 3D printable chassis projects! Thanks for watching everyone! Looking forward to sharing part 2 were I'll be going through the process of improving the design and doing some 3S "speed runs"! 😆 Any ideas or questions? Let me know below.
Really like the idea if having a heavy truck chassis. Will you be making just the front end available without the rest of the chassis, just the steer axel?
For your rear suspension, look up the RS Series rubber walking beam suspension by Hendrickson. It would give a more scale looking suspension in the rear while still allowing you to keep the gear box and motor orientation you have. It also has the benefit of needing zero springs to keep the chassis at ride height, which should simplify where the axles mount to the chassis. The other nice thing about commercial trucks, the chassis are mostly the same between the US and Europe. So, if someone wanted a Mercedes or Scania, they can use the same frame as a Peterbilt or Mack.
Would this work for a European style cab over truck? I love the (larger) scale trucks from Tamiya, but they’re sooooooo expensive and I prefer a smaller scale truck 😅
As long as the body is the same scale, it should work easily. The differences are minor between a Euro truck and an American truck as far as frame rails go.
What RPM Motor are you using? N20/N30 motors are avialble up to 3000RPM, so as you said these are rated for 12v, but a 2S lipo on a faster motor is capable...
If you ever get around to it. A rc tractor frame would be really cool. Even if there’s no 1/24 or 1/25 kits for them Edit: now that I think of it, with this frame you can make lots of vehicles aside from semis such as, motorhomes, boxvans/delivery trucks using smaller wheels, and busses all using this frame with some minor modifications
You absolutely nailed the Design on this. It looks so good for a Start. So i build 1/10 scale rc, and 1/24 model cars....so im already sold on the idea. But i have 100s, so i have to be careful or i will have $10,000 in rc stuff sitting here....i just happened to be building a 1/25 semi right now (local Walmart put many models on clearance for 13-20$, so i got like 10. Slingshot dragsters, pro street nova and Chevelle, 20$ for 1/25 semi and trailer, dirt oval track gto, and Fairlane 500)
very nice video, i started my own chassis for my own scale car and i am very inexperienced in both fusion and suspension design but seeing you do it gives me the will to continue onward on my own project
