Designing calculation of clariflocculator: Clariflocculator is a combination of flocculation and clarification in a single tank. Clariflocculator has two concentric tanks where the inner tank serves as a flocculation basin and the outer tank serves as a clarifier.
In the Clariflocculator, the water enters the flocculator, where the flocculating paddles enhance flocculation of the feed solids. As heavy particles settle to the bottom, the liquid flows radially upward in the clarifier zone,. The clarified liquid is discharged over a peripheral weir into the peripheral launder. The deposited sludge is raked to the bottom near the central weir from where it is routed to the sludge chamber and discharged.
It works on the mechanism of three drives:
Drive unit:
Two separate drive units are provided for flocculator & clarifier mechanism so that both are operative independently.
Flocculator drive:
Flocculator drive comprise of a motor connected by worm reduction gearbox by flexible coupling, chain & sprocket to get required RPM of flocculator paddles of suitable size which are suspended from the arms of flocculation zone.
Clarifier drive:
Clarifier drive also comprises of motor connected to worm reduction gearbox by chain & sprockets to impart slow motion to the scrapper. Clarifier mechanism is used continuously to remove the settled sludge from the centre of the tank.
The drive unit & feed well (MS) is fixed at the centre of the bridge which is designed to take static & dynamic load of the drive unit.
