Designing & 3D printing your own Desktop Neon LED Sign in Fusion 360.
This video is sponsored by PCBway. 👇 More info below 👇
Today we’re customising your own desktop neon sign. This project is based on my previous video explaining the electronics circuit and assembly: • How To Make DESKTOP NE...
They can be powered by either a USB cable or 4 x 'AA' batteries giving you a lot of flexibility for placement. Why not use one to illuminate your next garden or beachside party?
The Free 3D printed parts, wiring diagrams, FAQ etc can be found here:

Download 'Neon Shape Starter' file as a STP model here: www.printables.com/model/3324... (scroll down th list of downloadable files)
There are several ready designed free Neon shapes (www.printables.com/model/3324...) you can choose from and I’ll be creating some more which are available on my Etsy shop:

Purchase a kit of the electronics here (ships internationally): www.etsy.com/listing/1362555283
Every kit purchased helps support the channel and funds the next project. Thank you. 😊

Another small tidbit - to do the backbone at the end (1.5mm) you need to do the extrusion for the Regular extrude and not Thin Extrude - that was my experience at least
@jangrewe
@jangrewe 2 месяца назад
If you're doing a 1mm Shell and want to add an "additional 2 milimeters", you have to select the face on the back of the body. As you're selecting the inside face and extrude by 2mm, doesn't that add only 1mm, as it first extrudes "through" the 1mm that's already there?

There's something off about this tutorial that I can't quite place. If you're placing the sketch on the back face of the starter, and then extruding -13mm, it extrudes away from the back of the starter clip. If you do the opposite, and do 13mm, it pulls it over the top of the starter as in the video, however if you then add the 2mm extrusion on the back of it, your project will no longer print flat, because the shape protudes 2mm more

I bought 12V instead of 5V lights. Is it possible to change the resistor and capacitor to handle this? I know the batteries won’t work but would like to use the boards and lights I bought and not waste them

Thanks for the great tutorial. But how did you make sure that the length of the channel is exactly a multiple of where the LED strip can be cut? Cant find any way to get the length of the spline to adjust it accordingly
@DIYMachines
@DIYMachines Год назад
Off the top of my head you should be able to use the 'Measure' tool from the 'Inspect' menu at the top. Click on one of your lines and it should tell you the length.

How do you extrude such kind of unclosed shapes? Fusion doesn't allow me to select the sketch. I tried thin extrude and normal but without success.

The circuit I designed would not work with individually addressable LEDs. You could still use the design and replace the PCB with a circuit of your own design which incorporates a micro controller.
