As 2023 comes to a close, we thought we'd release our character creation session 0 to all (previously this was a Backer exclusive live stream). Let's hang out in chat as we relive the birth of our player characters!

After having watched the first 3 episodes of DesiQuest, it is so fun to go back and see this. Didn't know about this whole project until just recently. I'm such a fan and so THANKFUL for the opportunity to see into desi culture and learn elements that I would never get from the outside. Thank you for sharing and inviting us all in.

The story about the milk with cream on top reminds me of visits as a child to Argentina, where my family managed a ranch. My aunt used to make yogurt from whole milk, with a little sugar sprinkled on top. It was delicious. But in United States most yogurt is fat free which tastes horrible! So I don't eat American yogurt most of the time. Just not worth it. Same thing happened with gelato and American ice cream, but that's a story for another day. Thank you so much for sharing your culture with us! I love it!

So if they end up using 5e, it's sounding like Celestial Warlock, Artificer, Ranger or Druid, and maybe a fighter or barbarian for Laddu Auntie? At least a couple of them clearly have specific archetypes in mind, I'm curious how they might end up transferring them over if they do pick a different system.

The questions she asked (part 1, and I'm hoping I remember to add the rest at the end lol) were approximately: 1. What does your character do for a living? Is your character happy doing that for a living? What would they like to do for a living instead? 2. What is the most important human relationship in their life (positive or negative or otherwise)? 3. What would your character consider the biggest event of their life?

4. How does your character handle big problems? She then presented the same hypothetical, mundane but not every-day scenario to answer about receiving subpar but expensive service.
