Hi April, this app is fantastic, it fulfills maximum requirements, only couple of thing if possible to add it will be perfect 1. Add Dropbox with employees data from SharePoint list column. 2. If one employee assigned to one desk can not be booked for another desk if possible booked employee name should be red marked. 3. Today reservations view with desk details and assigned employee to that desk and exportable to pdf if possible. 4. Each reservation should have specific auto generated 6 digits number. I think it will be perfect if it will have these options. Its not must just a suggestion. Once again thanks for nice videos to share the knowledge. Have a good day.
HI April - this is a really useful app for me to implement, one thing i can get to work is if a desk is book between 9am and 10am for example - if some then puts in a range of 9:30 till 10:30 then the desk shows, but it should not because the checked out time is still within the 9-10 range
Excellent work. I turned this into a parking booking system at headquarters with a glass of wine, this clip and the template in a jiffy. :-) Keep it up!!
Thankyou so much for this April. I have customised your app to be used as a parking space reservation app at the office. We only have 3 spaces and it's always a fight to get access. I was using Office 365 and setting the spaces as resources but this app is much better. I fixed the initial errors by taking out the spaces from the column names and changing all instances of Desk with Parking Space. It works great. Just need to convince my colleagues to use it now. Thanks again.

Thanks for this! Went down well at work. I edited your nav using a rectangle below the icon for the current screen (think you change the default on each screens nav) and also put a label over the top of each button with a hover fill, makes the menu a lot easier 😊

It doesn't have the interactive map component that you had asked about (just a static one for now). That's obviously a little more complex and time consuming but I do plan to build that out eventually and make a video on it. Thanks again for the suggestion!
There's definitely a lot of need for a template like this these days. It would be cool to make a follow-up video where we get a few of us who have made a similar app like this and show how we tackled it in different ways!

I am now using it, but I am having a slight issues with the DESK RESERVATION LIST where CHECK OUT FROM and CHECK OUT TO Date & time does not match from what was selected from the app. I am not sure how and where to correct the mismatch in time zone

Since I am providing these templates to download I wasn't focusing on showing how to build it soup to nuts but rather explain it at a high level and show some important features. It would be a very long video to go over how to create everything from scratch

Would this room booking solution be able to show you a conflict for a future reoccurring meeting? We recently started using Room Finder in my tenant, and a small snag we have found is that when setting up a meeting room, it will only show you a conflict on the start date, but there is no way of knowing if a conflict exists on any future dates until after the meeting has been setup/sent, and the room declines the series. Any thoughts on how to work around this?
I'm going to use this! Thank you! I did get some errors when running the provisioner Flow though. Was able to correct it by adding spaces in the "Reserved By", "Check Out From", and "Check Out To" columns. Also, after you book a desk it says "Your booked!". I changed it to "You're booked!". :)

I had the same issue. Changed the names but still having a couple of problems. The Dashboard still shows an error (red X to the left of the "Upcoming Reservations" text). Says that The SortByColumns function has some problems and then down at the line "Check Out From", it says "The specified column 'Check Out From' does not exist. However, it clearly does. I also do not see my upcoming reservations.
Got it. I typed out the formula again and found out that the column name above "descending" is actually "Check_x0020_Out_x0020_From". I guess because of the spaces.
In the appointments screen, I want to show all bookings, with two tabs, today and next business day, (instead of Upcoming and previous). Can you show how i can filter by next business day, considering tomorrow could be saturday or sunday, and i don't want that day. Thanks in advance.

Hi April, It is possible to extend this to people, desk, items, cars etc. If I have multiple lists and if I want to include everything how would I do that? Would be good to have sections like DESK and under we have deskts, then expand car section and under that we have cars and so on? Is that possible.
Hi April :) This is great! I am creating an Asset reseervation app but they are requesting to have the asset reserved by dates in days (no times) , not just quantity. Do you have anything like this? One that would show how many assets are available and subtract the asset available quantity but only on those resevered days they select from date fields "To" and "From"? Any help would be amazing :)

Hi, this was quite helpful in getting me started. I'm trying another approach which has multiple rooms which once selected shows available slots. My Time slots are coming from SharePoint list with increment of 30mins which is comparing the schedule list which stores all the bookings. How would I go about hiding the slots in case where the booking is for continuous multiple slots. Any suggestion?

I would like to see how you can make a Mailbox/Locker reservation app where people can request a locker, get a key or code assigned to them and then reserve the locker over a subscribed time period (Day, Month, Year). If possible also have Each locker have its own attributes like location, size, and status.

I have some challenges when I am testing on different devices. in the mobile app and web, the date & time format are showing differently. In the web is showing mm/dd/yyyy and 12hr (AM/PM) time format. but in the Mobile app is showing dd/mm/yyyy and 24hr time format. how could I rectify that?

Hello April, great video of a great tool. Almost everything is working, except in the part DeskSelect. When I click on the "Information" icon I want to open a JPG file which was stored in de Sharepoint "Desks" library, Colum "Maplink". The code " Select(Parent);;UpdateContext({showMap:!showMap}) " won't open the JPG file in the app. Were is the hidden fault to get this solved?

Hi, i Got i problem, I've downloaded the template but when i create the flow this doesnt create any list or page in my sharepoint page, I have already change the url page, What may I do to solve this? or in this case do I have to create each list?
Hi Cesar - So you import the Flow and you clicked to run it but it doesn't create the lists? Do you get any errors in the Flow after you run it? It might be easier to re-create the lists in this case
Thank you April. Great app, great template!. With some adjustments, I used it for parking space booking application in my company. Do you have any idea why images uploaded to the SharePoint gallery of the data source do not display? (their urls are stored in MapLink column). I checked some random urls from the internet and these worked correctly.
Hi Patryk, I figured this one out. If you have a map image saved in SharePoint, you can select the ellipses in the top left corner after opening the image and then select view original. You can then use that URL and it works as the Map Link.
fantastic video - I have inherited the app at a workplace. I have noticed that staff are able to double book a desk (maybe a change that the previous tech had done), anyways if I book desk say at 10am-4pm I can still book the same desk at 11am-5pm as it states its available. If I book before 10am the desk is not available - any suggestions would be great - thanks

Hi April, awesome app, my only comment, when selecting a desk say for an afternoon time slot, the desk is not available for a morning booking, is there a work around for this.
It's probably an issue with the field name in SharePoint not matching with the field name used in the "Items" property of the gallery on that screen. I would try adding or removing any spaces in the field names in that items property query and see if that fixes it

When you set up the Sharepoint lists the columns have spaces but in the code they don't. Then... you have to change the formula on the Dashboard and MyAppts pages. FirstN(SortByColumns(Filter('Desk Reservations','Reserved By'.Email = currentUser.Email && 'Check Out From' >= Today()),"Check_x0020_Out_x0020_From",Decending),2) The weird field name "Check_x0020_Out_x0020_From" appears to be because of the spaces in the column name. Not sure why the first reference to the column name is ok but not the second.
Hi April, I would like to add little dots into the calendar below each date showing with colours the occupancy on the respective day. E.g. More than half of the possible seats free = green dot, below half = organge dot and no free space = red dot. Can you show me how I can implement that into the app? That would be great.

I've successfully ran the flow to provision both custom lists and imported the canvas app. I ran the App Checker and encountered a Formula error. On the Dashboard screen, in the .gallMyReservationsPreview gallery, the Issue Details is stating "The specified column 'CheckOutFrom' does not exist". Would you have any idea what maybe causing this issue? Any feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Whew, never-mind; I solved the issue on my side. It had to do with the syntax of "CheckOutFrom". The App Checker kept identifying that as a warning. I changed the syntax to reflect "Check_x0020_Out_x0020_Form" and that action cleared out the issue. Has this issue every happened to you?
Hi April I am using your desk booking powerapps. I want to add some more booking functionality in app like meeting room. When I create same screens as desks but calendar components not working well as expected. When I go to first for book desk and once successfully desk booked user get back to Dashboard screen and he can select room booking same as desk but when user go to calendar screen for room then whole screen goes to blank.

Hi April, Great application! Just what we needed. I was wondering if there was a way to use, for instance, an If statement to make desks visible or not in a custom made map? You mentioned something like this in the comment to Keisha. If I try to use an if statement with the Filter code from the available desks gallery it tells me it isn't a Boolean value. Any possible way to make this "interactive" part of the map working?
Hi Felix, I think for an interactive map like that, you'd be better off creating that in PowerBI and embedding in the app. You could technically do it in Power Apps by adding in the image and overlaying it with rectangle objects as well.

@@AprilDunnam Thanks for coming back to me. I watched your video, but unfortunately I’m still having no luck. I’ve gone to Components > Tabs and located the Items property. If I update the Name(s), they change in the component view but don’t update on any screens where the Tabs component is used. If I change the Icon name in the Items property (within Components), all the icons disappear. Any ideas?
@@benadams109 You have to change it on each of the screens, not the component itself. Click on the screen with the component in it, select it there and change that items property

We've got different email domains in the user information in SharePoint vs. the login info for Office 365 (due to mergers, etc.) My name is even different (Greg vs. Gregory). Do you know of any other filtering options for the user to see only their own reservations?

How do you do the filter with the not function when the sharepoint column is a multi-choice lookup? Is there a way to use your example but look at all of the values of the column? In my case, I am creating a calendar for meetings where the User can reserver multiple rooms across different offices. When I try to use your code I get an error "Power Apps can't convert this text to a table."

When I run the AppChecker, I get an error that says, "Navigate is not suggested in OnStart. Use the StartScreen property instead for better performance." I also get an error message when I play the app, and I'm wondering if it's related to that? The error message says "An unknown error occurred" with no further information. Other than that, the app works fine, except that I can't get the Manage Desks tab to appear, even though I listed my email in the DeskAdmins list. Any ideas on where to start looking?
Great app and design. just what I was looking for. I was wondering how to add the ability to disable a desk from being listed, perhaps due to maintenance or the desktop/hardware being repaired. I noticed you created an "Active" column in the Desks list. Wondering if this column was meant to determine if the desk is active or not. In PowerApps, would it be as simple as looking at this column for its value in the filter to determine whether a particular desk should be listed?
Hi Sergio - Yes, the "Active" column I have included in the template is intended to help you handle that scenario where you want to disable the option to select a desk. You can adjust the filter in the gallery and add where Active = "Active"

@@AprilDunnam the app will allow drivers to apply for parking with automated approval process. the app will also navigate them to the empty lots. Overall the app will have a list of parking duration for admin to know when the parking will expire. There will be no money involved in this app

Such that there is a maximum number of users per slot eg: Thursday, 7 April 2022 10:00AM - Max number of users : 10. Thanks for providing this! I've never touched Power Apps before, so a bit of struggle. I completed the "deployment" instructions per the GitHub page, but could use some guidance after that, if anyone has tips. 1. I added a desk to the Desks list in SP, but it doesn't show up in the app when attempting to make a booking ("Uh oh, no openings found!"). It was already connected to SP lists via the "Data" tab on the left. 2. Lots of small red "x" symbols. Seems related to the gallery groups? Not sure where to begin to fix this. Any help is appreciated!

Hi Luke - For the map link column you'll need to put in a hyperlink to an image file that shows the desk. If you need a spot to upload the image you could use OneDrive or a SharePoint document library and upload the image there then get a link to that and put it in the MapLink column

Hi Rana - You can use Power Automate for that. Since this template is using SharePoint as a data source - you can check for if that column has changed then send an email. Exactly, you can do a check in the data source just like you're saying using the IsBlank() to lookup to the data source. If it returns true then they don't have an existing reservation but if IsBlank() is false they do so don't allow them to book.
