The Minister of Local Government, Desmond McKenzie, is insisting that the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management, ODPEM did its job.
This amid criticism from the Opposition PNP that ODPEM was asleep on the job.The Minister was providing an update in the House of Representatives on Tuesday in the wake of magnitude 5.6 earthquake which rocked sections of the island on Monday.
He says while assessments are ongoing, the country’s infrastructure appears to have suffered only minimal damage.
He dismissed criticism that ODPEM failed to communicate meaningfully and promptly following the disaster.
