What makes this scene so particular and interesting is the directing of Robert Rodriguez, camera movements, screenplay, etc and of course the talent of Banderas.
Still actors failed to communicate what the scene is about - . because he got shot in the left hand Antonio is showing frustration - "forget this hand" , and also at the end he like snapped because he can't play the guitar anymore. If you watch the original Mariachi film, you can see it. The Script is blindly copied from another film, and regardless, Rodriguez work is genius
After watching this scene, I called my friend and told him I needed to learn guitar, that day I bought a shitty acoustic from him for 60 bucks, then formed a band and went on tour. This scene is magic
The moment he played the tune... You can see how deep and strong the connection was between him and Bucho, the bond was so strong the moment he remembered them playing as kids he stopped immediately, it also happens to me Bucho when he heard the kid playing the tune. You can the pain of in his eyes and the sadness that they drifted apart! This will always be among my Top 5.
I didn't notice that heavy. I seen it as, he started to mess up and stopped. Because his left hand is the one he was shot in. Ruining the strength to play well, anymore
@@TheMulatto83 That can be a reason as well but I don't think so because if you noticed the moment you hear the sound of the kids playing he stopped remembering himself and Bucho because Bucho taught him how to play this tune. Also in Once Upon A Time in Mexico, he still can play somehow perfectly like what he did in the Opening scene with the Electric guitar.
@@yasirbizaroo8849 you based that theory off a child's chuckle right before he stopped.......but I ain't say it was a bad theory 👍 There was still unresolved emotional trauma for sure.
This was literally the first movie I ever saw where it clicked for me... when I realized just what a director actually does. I was 15. I suddenly realized that directors are like a painter, only with moving pictures... they have a style. Here, Robert Rodriguez has a tone, a color pallet, timing, music, the way he directs his actors to speak, the way it's shot and edited...everything!! It all comes together to tell a story, and you really get tuned into the directors style. With a great story, that style is what sets him apart from everyone else. I remember I began going back to all of my other favorite movies like Goodfellas, Back to the Future, Hellraiser, The Godfather. I picked up the styles of each indivudual director!! So yeah, Robert Rodriguez's style is just that important. You can really feel it in each and every scene - especially in his "Mexico Trilogy" and the rest of his "Grindhouse" features like From Dusk Till Dawn and Machete.
my fav movie of all time. watched it a 1000 times and love the atmosphere, the music, the shoot outs, characters, the dusty look, dialogue and the nostalgia.
This scene is so memorable. The music is beautiful and the message is great. Plus, we have sexy Antonio doing that cool guitar spin towards the end as he passes it back to the kid :D
This was is ALWAYS my favorite actor, scene, and movie!! I absolutely adore antonio!! And been in love with the tune he played at the end since I heard it!! 💯💪🏽💕🤤🤤🥰🔥 1:46
Most beautiful man of that time. This is my all time favorite movie. Robert Rodriguez directed and wrote this movie. I wondered if Tarantino took the name of his latest movie from this as he was truly impressed by Rodriguez. Read a Rebel without a crew by Rodriguez. If you love guitars, the soundtrack is outstanding.
it's Desperado, "El Mariachi" is the first one in the trilogy- the ending is recreated at the beginning of Desperado, right up to where he gets shot in the hand.
Yea lol and bucho was a fat white dude in El Mariachi well of course non of the desperado actors was in the first one. but still its funny how different bucho looked!!! but if you love robert's movies you have to watch the very first guitar gunslinger movie!!!
not very simple he stretches his fingers a lot for cancion del mariachi. he also plays at high speeds. i can play most rock and country patterns and stuff but when i try to learn mexican music its actually pretty fast
The music style in this movie is closer to Spanish flamenco than "Mexican music'. Great soundtrack by Los Lobos, a great American band with strong folkloric Spanish and Mexican roots
Merci Beaucoup for showing us the secret. It is the hand that you strum with, it had nothing to do with the notes, but rather your fingering hand that creates the speed. That is why he said, "loosen you hand and for now forget the one you make notes with if you want to get faster." Unlike the kid who walked off with it going in one ear and out the other and was working on notes. I listened to him and am proud to say it had paid off. Good luck to all of you who want to play music. If you earned to learn, ROCK SMITH is excellent it is nothing like guitar hero. You can speed it up, slow it down, it teaches you notes and you need a real guitar.
Haha, when I was a kid, I had this movie on videotape. Some of you might remember. I rewinded it so many times (in this video from 1:48 to 1:57) that the casette would start to make these funny interferences because it was worn out. Now, more then 20 years later I just found myself doing the exact same thing going from 1:57 to 1:48 again and again xD Still such a masterpiece of a song. Oh and fun fact: I was never able to figure out the exact tones that were played in this scene. However, I now have my own style of playing it and can even sing the whole song alacran y pistolero where this piece originates from. I tell you this because it took years.
Well im a self taught player, and even i could figure this out, only 3 main notes are present on this: Am, Em, B7 Watching the video is pointless, as Banderas plays E the whole time, wich is ridiculous because the less played chord on this circle is Em, so as the video is inaccurate you have to rely on the music as is. Easy tip to play this i can give you is start on Em, 6th string is open, then played on 3rd fred, then hit 5th string, quickly swith to Am and play the 5th string again this time should be open, then with your mid and index fingers play 2nd and 3rd string respectively while still on Am, then switch to B7. One thing Banderas got right is that this a normal method to practice "arpeggio", p-i-m-a at the 4th-3rd-2nd-1st string playing open strings respectively with the right hand, after all that's the whole point of this clip, but is not hard to figure it out, even though, to play this little piece you have to use your pinky to hit some strings, like 1st string on 3rd fred when playing Em, arpeggio goes from bottom to top on the right hand most of the times (except for the thumb), using your thumb to play 4th to 6th string and the rest of your fingers to play 1st to 3rd.
I always laugh at the end of this scene. After this cool lesson that the boy receives, he just walks away playing some random notes. Anyway, one of the best scenes in cinema history, subtle yet powerful. Practice
Actually he's not playing random notes, he's actually trying to play it if you listen carefully. But obviously he can't play it well yet. I'm a guitarist and you can hear the first few notes are similar.
perfeito ,dizer mais seria obvio .antonio bandeiras encarna seriamente o estilo espanhol, sua presença valoriza por demais as telas do mundo cinematografico

Yes. I think his point is this, if you practice everyday and all day with tight hands your hands will get tired. After the hands get tired you then loosen your hands and start playing better and of course as the old saying goes "practice makes perfect" (assuming your practicing the right thing).
The song on the background is included in the soundtrack album of the movie, but this is an altered (extended) version, really interested in this if anyone can help me find it :)
