The tone is offensive. Almost as if 26 weeks Maternity leave was designed to downgrade the women. Instead of looking at the issue as a problem needing sensible solutions, the querulous tone and the obsession with 'equality' is off-putting. Is 26 week maternity/paternity leave to be given to both? Or is it to be divided and given to both as 13 weeks? The practical truth is that child-bearing/rearing is almost impossible without the support of one or both sets of parents of the couple. As for office creche, part funding of expenses etc must presumably have been discussed before introducing the legislation. Whatever is done, rearing a child, along with a full-time job with all its pressures is going to be full of compromises and sacrifices. IF A COUPLE DOES NOT HAVE THE STOMACH FOR IT OR THE CAPACITY TO ADJUST/COMPROMISE IT IS BETTER NOT TO HAVE A CHILD.
